Yeah, it's because they're bent.0

I knew it.0

bent food makes you fat....at least that is what made ME fat!!0

Bananas are good for you but just like anything eat in moderation because they are high in sugar and carbs. Natural sugars are better for you than refined ones so I'm not afraid of fruit.0
-
I think it's because of the type of sugar that's in them...0

Didn't attempt to hide it, either.0 -

Judging from the responses I guess you were quite successful with your attempt
You deserve your troll badge, wear it with pride

I dunno, nitachi, there hasn't actually been that many reponses. Far fewer than the posts I have read this evening about the evil banana.
Why are they worse than sweet potato?0 -
This may be a troll but I would like to know the answer to this question as well.0
-
They're higher in calories than most fruit. Not to mention they have a higher glycemic index than other fruit, which will cause it to turn into sugar quicker than other fruits.0
-
They are a higher GI? Hang on.
Ok, I have done my best google and they are not. Watermelon (!) and pineapple are at the highest and cherries (!) are at the lowest. Bananas are the same as mango - I knew it! Let's see all the threads about how mango is so bad for you! I love mango.
I would have thought watermelon were low gi, but I guess they really are nothing but water and sugar.
This is the dodgy google thing I found, feel free to refute with something more substantial.

Well, I will say that bananas constipate me, so that is why I do not eat them anymore. I do love them and they are a fast snack, as well as a delicious base for my smoothies, my body just does not seem to like them.0

So, in the face of the boundless, well, non-existent criticism of the aforesaid herb, I declare the mango the most damaging fruit on the planet. Yes, you know who you are, R2E2!
Except for the evil watermelon. I know where you are.0 -
Yes, it's because they are bent!

Guava is meant to be the "best" fruit nutrition wise...0

Here's a great resource I use almost every day for looking GI and stuff up:

blah--- hate bananas.0

Bannnas are excellent for yo - superfood, full of potassium, good carbs etc.
However... not good for weight loss - full of sugar!!! Then, everything in moderation and I would say that if you are factoring that carb/sugar content into your diet appropriately then there is no problem!0 -

Is that right! On what basis? I love guavas, I think they are my favorite fruit. They are not very popular in Australia. Perhaps, like a lot of exotics, they don't travel well, and then there are all those annoying seeds, so inconvenient in a smoothie.0 -
I LOVE bananas! They are one of my favorite fruits but I CANNOT have them. I am hypoglycemic and bananas are full of sugars and carbs. One banana takes up almost half of my daily allotment. I eat them on rare occasion as a special treat like most people would eat a slice of cake as a treat. Don't even get me started on the watermelon, cantaloupes and dates that I LOVE so much!!! :-)0

  I have a banana every day, probably why i am not losing weight. hey ho! Thought they were a healthy snack?0

Cherries? My dodgy site said that cherries were the lowest GI?
Oh, dates and other dried fruits like the dastardly dried APRICOTS, I never knew what horrors lurked inside that innocent-looking plastic bag of imported evil before I scanned their barcode into the saintly mfp. Aargh!0 -
I never really understood that myself. I love bananas so what I do is only eat one once a week. Unless I have a large amount of left over calories.0

The biggest reason for obsecity in America is bananas!

So, how are they worse than mango? How does mango lead this charmed life? Or any other fruit?
Or do you mean that fruit, in general, is bad for weight loss?0 -
Haha, my advertisement banner has started to try to sell me bananas!! How do they know? Get thee behind me, banana.0
-
I have a banana every now and then. Eating half in the AM and then the PM. I know they are not the best for me because they are high in carbs/sugar. But also a great source of niacin and potassium.0

Actually yes, an excess of fruit is bad for weight loss because of the sugars and their position on the GI (the website you posted said 52, a website I saw said 55). I understand your sarcasm, but excess fruit can actually stifle fat loss. The only "diet" that takes the pounds off quickly is a high protein and low carb diet, however its not safe to use for an extended period of time.0
