4th OF JULY CHALLENGE - WEEK 1

went for a run this morning ( I have only just started about a month or so ago so I only run about 3 miles 4 or 5 times a week) ...but my shins and calves ARE THROBBING this morning. I always stretch, I spent a FORTUNE on a nice new pair of Asics...and Im still suffering with shin splints I hope this goes away soon. Its just very frustrating, I want to work out..I "enjoy" it so much lol...no really I do, I love the feeling when its all said and done and I know I burned those calories and put all of myself into it and I am all sweaty and feeling like I want to eat the whole pantry but I hate the pain my legs are in...and I hope its only because Ive just started running, and it won't keep me down for long.
my goal today is to NOT SNACK after lunch...for some reason Im always hungry even after Ive eaten lunch. NOT TODAY!! Im going to eat smaller portions more frequently in hope that I wont stand and snack on those randoms in my cupboards. Hope everyone is having a great day so far!
:flowerforyou: Hey!!! Congrats on the running... nothing to 3 miles in one month is GREAT, but may also be the source of you shin splints... sometimes increasing the distance / intensity too quickly can be problematic... I have been a runner since high school (cross country / track) so trust me I know how they feel... and honestly (you are not going to like this) they take awhile to go away AND you really need to cut back on the running for a bit... do exercises that have less of an impact on your legs... (swim, eliptical etc.). I'm no expert (so def. see a doctor if you don't feel any improvement soon.... my mom actually ended up with hairline fractures... she is also a long time runner) but I know taking about 2 weeks off always helped me get over them... otherwise they linger for MONTHS :grumble: Hope this helps!!! Hey everyone! Sorry I have been MIA today (lots of work)... but keep those heads up ladies! So... tomorrow is the BIG DAY... our first weigh-in.... so in case I am not the first on (which I am sure I will not be)... here is the game plan... the first person to check in can copy the most recent list and UPDATE THEIR CURRENT WEIGHT (CW)...we can also write (WL = ...the # of LBs you lost since the first day of this challenge)... Also... so we can keep track of who checked-in (we need to keep each other motivated and accountable ) move your name to the top... and keep a space between the "checked in group" and the people who have not updated their linfo yet.... THE WEIGHT LOST IS THE WEIGHT YOU HAVE LOST IN THE FIRST WEEK OF THE CHALLENGE :flowerforyou: At the end of this it will be fun to add up how much the group lost toegether... :bigsmile: :bigsmile: :bigsmile: We should set a group goal... 27 people... about 10lbs per person... Thanks ladies. I dont have any work out videos yet, but I am going to get the jillian michaels one this weekend. I hear she kicks your butt lol. I am feeling a bit better, bc my brother said he would watch my little one when he gets home from work today. So I can go for a nice long bike ride and maybe get on the elliptical for a while at his house.

lol, I have a fantastic family! I got in a 40 min. bike ride. So I am feeling pretty good. I plan on working that up to an hour. It is amazing how much better I feel getting in that exercise though! I will weigh-in in the morning, but pry haven't lost much from my starting weight, because that was only tuesday. Next week will hopefully show up numbers ) I am excited I am within reach of my pre-pregnancy weight. 3 more lbs! woohoo! (Feeling much better than I was this morning, thank you everyone!)

gahhhh im soo frustrated
I am actually very angry with my body right now...I just went to weigh myself, and its been about 16 days since the last time I weighed in. I have actually been on a diet for two months, exercising for awhile before this challenge. I expected the scale to AT LEAST have budged 3 or so pounds.....I actually gained 1.3lbs. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't understand. I have worked soo hard since I had my baby. I stopped nursing, and thought that would lose some weight....but nothing.
I know everyone hits a point where it gets harder to move the scale. But I am ALWAYS trying new things, different workouts, running, yoga, pilates. It is so discouraging, after 8 weeks of trying soo hard to eat the right foods...working out till I want to drop dead...getting up at the crack of dawn so I can get in my run before my husband goes to work....to not see ANY results...FEELS LIKE CRAP.
I will try and stay positive, work harder, keep both feet moving forward to my ultimate goal. Afterall I know this isnt about the scale...its about how I feel about myself. I guess I just REALLY didnt want to go through another summer of not being able to wear shorts...or walking around the pool covered up by a stupid wrap....grrr...
