    Tomorrow is another day.
Make your next meal a healthy one and you are back on track, don't beat yourself up for slipping up, we all do it at some point, just dust yourself off and get right back on track.

After all we are human, stuff likes this happens occasionally.

    I assume you ARE human????

Drink so water and remember tomorrow is a new day. Binges are okay sometimes, no need to beat yourself up.
  • A lot of people binge. But you should really try to uncover the root of why this happens. Are you restricting yourself too much? I use to have an eating disorder and binge all the time. Over the years I have tried to figure out my triggers. I find under stress, emotions etc I will binge. Also if I restrict myself too much. I will eat like it's my last meal.

What I do now is, I try not to let myself feel guilty about eating. Yesterday I said okay I will have 2 slices of pizza and ENJOY the two slices. Not think about it as BAD food but just moderation food.

Good luck. Start fresh tomorrow. Do not continue the cycle and really try to find the root to this

    it'll be okay..just start over tomorrow :)
  • Was it a binge or just a bad day?
yesterday I had a bad day that was
    6 fun sized chocolate bars
two handfuls of chocolate covered sultanas
    5 oreos
    a burger
    some chips

but you know what? sometimes it's good to overeat because your body needs a variety of food to stay healthy, try to take it in your stride , eat better tomorrow :) At the place I volunteer at the lady describes it as you can only hold your breath for so long before you gulp for air... eating a strict diet is the same... can only last so long before you need to take in a hell of a lot of junk

YEP! Today was a chocolate abuse day for me. My new plan is to enter my food and exercise a day in advance, this way I will start my day with a plan.

Tomorrow is a new day and a fresh start ! :)

If it helps, try not to focus on today's calories and focus now on a good week's average. You can turn it around. Be patient, stay positive.

I like this response. Look for what triggers this behavior and see if you can, a little bit at a time, modify it! And seriously, we all need moderation, we all need cheat days sometimes, so it's OKAY!
  • I took a gander at your diary, it seems you were building up for a binge by under eating a few days prior to today and most of what you had were processed carbs (not that you can't eat those, but solely eating them, that'll cause an imbalance). Don't beat yourself up too badly, just get back to what you were doing before under-eating and you'll be less likely to do so again. I'm sure you'll get back on track (: I hope I haven't offended you in any way.

Tomorrow IS a new day, and you should get up, keep logging, and move on. I would HIGHLY recommend, however, that you take some time tonight to journal about what happened, where you think it came from, and how you feel (both physically and emotionally) now. I'd also add how much sleep you've been getting, and how your eating has been going for say the last week (being super restrictive? not getting enough water?) Either it might help you to head off the next one, or if you continue to journal after binges, you will probably find some real patterns that will help you learn more about how to make better choices and NOT let the stage be set for another day like today. Hang in there!

I had a day about a month ago that was like that... I ate an entire 8 ounce brick of cream cheese mixed with granola, a mocha, and two bagels with peanut butter. It doesn't sound like a lot of food but it's the amount of calories I would normally eat in three days, not one! I got back on track and didn't beat myself up over it.

ETA that mine was during finals, so I know it was stress-induced. Doesn't happen often.

Like Scarlett O'Hara said, "Tomorrow is another day."

Just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and put one foot in front of the other and keep going. The great thing about mistakes is they give us a chance to learn something about ourselves.

2 weeks ago I did the same thing which was way off the radar or so I thought.

Mine were chips, dip, little Debbie honey buns, moon pies and cheetos.
I ate so much I hurt!

Anyway, we mess up, and so we learn; we gather our energies, solidify our resolve and just move on.

DON'T LET THIS BECOME YOUR FAILURE!

Just rub your tummy and say "Yummy!"
OK, now it's time to get some sleep, and tomorrow, proceed as though nothing happened.
Time to get your nose back to the grindstone.

FYI: this is why I have a "free day" to eat 500 calories past maintenance and a monthly binge day where I eat anything I want - as much as I want.

At least then I plan it and feel in control.

I do that too....in those type quantities. I agree with the water...to help you digest it better and try to let it go. Tomorrow is a new day. I have often wondered the "why" of it and mostly, I just love food. Yes, stress causes me to be weak......but on days like you are describing, I just WANT it so bad. All of it. Drink the water and exercise tomorrow. I hope you feel better when you wake up:flowerforyou:
  • My fiance is picking up a Twix ice cream bar as I'm typing this. AND he brought pizza home from work (he works at Domino's) so I'll be having pizza tomorrow.

Good answer! I'm impressed that you took the time to check out her diary instead of assuming she has emotional problems. Sometimes I just binge. I sit and watch dumb tv, and eat my face off. I'm sure I'm stressed, pms'ing and about to have a meltdown. I don't do it often, but every now and then it's like a holiday lol Also you have to remind yourself why you don't eat like that anymore. It's like drinking, how many times have you said "i'm never drinking again."

aww, sweetie you don't need to feel so bad. We all do it from time to time, just pick yourself up and look forward for tomorrow, and there was a post on here about having a free day, or maybe you could have something every two days.

    Ex:

Monday, Tuesdays, Thursday, Friday: eating healthy non processed foods
Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday: Eating one meal of your choice, make sure it is one meal (a burger and fries for instance) and fits in your daily calorie goal (so do a little more cardio on these days) cardio example: go window shopping for a couple of hours, or do some jumping jack and aerobic activity.

It is important to develop an good relationship with our food, when I chose not to eat something it isn't because of anything emotional (this is the biggest reason for a binge, emotional attachments to food) but it is because I don't feel it will benefit my goals at this time and it will be there later.

I have been promoting writing to the foods we are craving or talking to them.
I have used this in the past to help develop a healthy relationship my food.
This will help create a time gap between the craving and putting it in your mouth.
It will also help you understand why you are needing to binge so you may be able to address that problem.

This is a note to my friends a few days ago it might help you :flowerforyou:

"What I do when I have a craving... I sit and think about morning that food, saying oh why have I left you? ((shaking head)) is it cause of your this or that? Or could it be for this or that? Oh I remember it's cause I am trying to lose and you aren't any help ((hangs head down in defeat)) that's ok my old friend, I will be back some day and we can enjoy each other even more than ever when I do :) And it's always ok, cause the food will understand and it will always be there when I am ready to come back ;) Remember food will always be there later no mater how long later may be ((big smile and a wink))"

Then I followed it with this:
" I feel like I need to clarify this, my previous post is more of a lesson on how to develop a healthy and loving relationship with our food. No more abuse (binge eating, feeling guilty or emotional) the statement about how I will come back and we can enjoy each other more than ever is something I truly believe in. Food needs to be eaten and we need to eat, after reaching my goal I will have no emotional need to binge (abusing food and me) and will be able to enjoy that delicious food within moderation, slowly allowing it to pleasure my taste buds. This should be our goal while losing weight, and that is how I developed my healthy relationship with food. This may work for you, and you may need to find your own way. Good luck all, and yes I will say it my name is **** and I truly love food ;)"

This is an example of me morning a food I just couldn't have at the time I was craving it:

"damn I miss my milk!! oh milk, why have I forsaken you? who cares about the coffee or caffeine, I just miss you :'( I miss your thick creaminess and subtle sweetness. I can mix you with so many things too and you never disappoint. Crap I feel like a breastfed baby going through withdrawals, what is wrong with me!!!"

I would be happy to be your friend :flowerforyou: , just send me an invite and we can help each other reach our goals

I hope you have a wonderful night!!

My worst binge is eating a jar of peanut butter in one sitting. I almost killed myself doing that. (Really think so because I was SO SICK!)

I ate 3 pieces of pizza today and had one beer. It was good! Pick up the pieces, you have 70 lbs under your belt to be proud of, you've done this before and you can do it again.

These things happen. You're usually really, really good, so don't stress it. I think letting yourself enjoy some of these treats every now and then (even if it's weekly) is fine. It's good to keep your body guessing! Like I said before, you've got really good eating habits so the binge isn't going to cause all your hard work to be lost.

When things are hard, just sing a happy song, and keep on moving! Woo.

Like Many others before me said, learn from it & get right back up & begin again. I have had several struggles with binging this month. I know what's causing it & I'm trying to learn how to work with it so I can get back on track. Unfortunately, there have been several days in a row & I gained back 5lbs. :frown: But I'm working on it & today was much better!

Don't beat yourself up over one day. Try some of the suggestions made here, I really liked taraatwood, beautyreaps, his_kid1, & MaximalLife comments. I think I'll try those things, & look for the patterns in my eating too.

Thanks for posting this, we all need to know we aren't alone sometimes.

Good luck with your goals to you & everyone who posts here!
