I only log things in with calories.
I don't care about salt - my 3000 is a whole lot better than the 6000 I used to consume.
    So no, not everything.

I log everything that has calories and carbs. I'll add spice mixes if they contain salt. That's just me--we've all got our thing that works for us.

    :-)

That's what I do, too. I do not log calorie free/sodium free drinks like crystal lite.

I do not log everything. I catch all the main things and keep refining. You are doing great! Keep up the good work and add things as you see that it might make a difference.

I'm less obsessive about logging everything than I was a year ago - now I'm maintaining, I have a pretty good idea how many cals are in the little extras. I do still log most things - but not black coffee, herbal tea, salt or pepper (I'm not bothered about sodium), home made chilli relish (about 5 cals for 1/2 tsp), an extra splash of wine in a recipe (about 30 cals for 5 or 6 servings) etc.
Most of my meals are home made and I will add the recipe the first time, then sometimes I will tweak it next time, other times I just use it as a guide. For example, I have logged chicken soup and although it has different veggies every time, I don't go back and change it each time.

I log everything - even my calorie free tea. I log spices too - even if it is just a couple of calories - and yes, I log my vitamins - they have calories too! (AND they DO add up!)

I do not log the 1 or vary rare 2nd cup of coffee I have each day, and I do not log my Crystal Light on my meals, but add it my water.

I don't log EVERY single little thing. I don't log gum. I only log coffee or tea for my own reference (so I know I didn't just have a tablespoon of milk by itself... haha.) I don't log spices. Sometimes I won't log the few leaves of lettuce I threw on my sandwich, but I've been trying to get better about logging everything.

I don't log drinks unless they have calories; so I log low carb energy drinks, 'normal' soft drinks, alcohol etc but I don't log sugar free lemon cordial or Pepsi Max....

I don't log salt when boiling veggies (don't have that much)

I don't log spray oil if I use a bit, but I do log if I use pouring oil/butter.

I log everything. Even the little nibbles here and there when I'm preparing meals. I usually quick add 100-200 cals. Sometimes I add more, just to make sure.
  • I don't think it's being *obsessive* to keep track of EVERYthing- anymore than when you first go on a budget, and you keep track of every single cent....to realize where it all goes at the end of the day....

and keeping track of calories is just one part of this- for me,the sodium and saturated fat affect me way more than calories....

so learning where they hide is part of the education of learning a whole new lifestyle.

I'm @ my goal, in maintenance, and just have learned where the hidden calories go now.

I log everything including spices. It helps me keep an eye on my sodium.

I try to log everything. Even black coffee.

    My starbuck's Tall = 5 cals If I have three in a day that's 15 calories/day. ( If I ate a candy that was 15 calories I'd log that.)

    15 cals x 7 days = 105 cals/week

    It all adds up.

I log everything except spices too... even down to the gum that I chew and all drinks!! I am not sure how to log the medication that I take... any suggestions?? I also used to log the tums that I took (I took a lot of those before the surgery that I just had to stop the acid reflux)... let's hope that that changes :-)

I do log everything. But mainly in recipe complilations. Lemon juice has calories. a splash of milk has calories. So yes I log everything. If you dont see it in my diary, trust me it is in the recipe entry.

For me, every little thing counts

    Ditto this

    Everything!
    Spices have a carb count,
the oil you cook in counts even if it's just a teaspoon.
    vitamins count
the coffee or tea is worth noting if you re looking at a day to day picture it's the real deal.
I think it's a slippery slope to be on if you don't add everything in.

I love everything, mainly because I like to see what I'm eating. I log supplements because I want to make sure I'm getting enough calcium each day. When creating recipes, I do include the spices on the ingredient list.
