In Ab ripper x theres a exercise Tony calls oblique crunches. I hate them cuz I have no form, I feel lika a little helpless baby seal or a maggot or something just lying there waiting for my death. But also I can never do more then eleven on each side and it took me forever to work up to that. But I can tell I benefit from this one.0

I hate twisting crunches, but they're the easiest thing I've found for abs other than a certain machine I no longer can access.
In general though, if you hate something, it isn't worth the risk that at some point it will dissuade you. If possible find something else. The personal trainer industry loves exercises you'll resist without them there.
I'm 55 and have been working out pretty steadily for almost 40 years. Don't do what you hate, it's highly likely there's a substitute you won't hate.0
