I used coconut oil, worked fine. I think next time am going to do as traybake and call them flapjacks!

I also soaked the raisins in boiling water for a few minutes (and then drained), I always do that in baking makes them more moist.

I wonder if you could replace the oil with applesauce? Or at least half and half?

I've been making these cookies for a while now, they are amazing. I use applesauce instead of oil also and sometimes chop up some walnuts to go inside.

I was thinking the same thing nuts sound yummy in these! awesome thanks for sharing

    They sound wonderful Thanks
  • I don't understand why you would choose to eat oil instead of butter, unless you are lactose intolerant. Butter is not evil and it tastes a heck of a lot better. Canola is a man made food and vegetable oil is made from soy which is bad for all kinds of health conditions. Olive oil doesn't work as well for baking.
I do like the applesauce idea. Sounds like the flavor combination could be yummy.

I think it means "bring up my post", and it puts this topic to "My Topics", so you can easily find it later.

just made these and they are gooood! ... i replaced the oil with applesauce and used 1/8c dried cranberries, and chopped up 7 pieces of bliss dark chocolate. mine came out to be 50 cals for each cookie (making 24) ... they are a chewy texture, not really cookie-y... but still very good. love the chocolate/banana combo! make sure to roll them and flatten a little, since they hold the exact shape you make them into.
oh also, GREASE THE BAKING SHEET!!! i had a hell of a time getting them off the first time haha

  • Made this today, was soo yummy! I couldn't seem to shape the mixture into nice cookies so I just filled a brownie tray with the mix and cut it up afterwards. They are lovely and squidgy on the inside and the hint of banana really works!

  • I WISH I LIKED BANANAS!

could they be replaced with anything else?

i don't like pumpkin either, i might sound really fussy but these two are probably the only foods i don't like haha
