I don't agree with lots of fibre. It didn't help me at all, instead I take a pro biotic everyday, and boy do I go now :)

I have the same problem. I used to be so regular now not so much and i will have quiet a bit of pain when it has been a couple days. I drank a slim fast shake this morning and almost didn't make it to the restroom. I don't know what is in that thing but if it will work like that daily Im game. lol.

I am known to some on my MFP friends list as the "Fiber King" (usually always greater than 40 g of fiber per day), and I still have issues "back there". Even on days when I drink 8+ cups of water. I do agree that stress can cause things to get all stopped up. I can go from liquid to solid in the course of 24 hours when I am really stressed.

Not just fiber, yogurt, the natural cultures will help. Walking, writing, anything that helps you destress will help too. If it persist, a doctors visit is a must. And you should only weigh yourself once or twice a week, your body weight can fluctuate between 3 & 5 pounds in a day. And the lack of poop coming out will also cause weight fluctuations. You can look online too, there are some natural elements (herbal) that can also help regulate the system

I think I'm an *expert* on this- I am chronically constipated, and EVERY trick in the book hasn't worked for me-
WATER, FIBER, every concoction under the sun......

Stress is a huge factor- and getting thrown out of regular routine can really screw anyone up.

Ya know what *may*work like a charm?
Cheap, inexpensive magnesium supplement- 250 mg. tablet- follow dosage on bottle.

After COUNTLESS trips to GI specialist, this silly little tablet works.
It stimulates the muscle function- without the UNdesirable side effects of stool softeners/laxatives that work whenEVER- and you never know when that will be.

These work within 20 minutes- just the same way you'd *normally* go.

be wary of adding more fiber. If you're adding fiber, you HAVE to add water. Otherwise you make the problem worse. Fiber without water is roughage with nothing to thin it out. And that can lead to constipation, diverticulitis, etc. And add a lot of water.

I was having the same problem...not exactly sure of the cause. (Maybe change in diet). A co-bootcamper of mine just gave me some Chia Seeds and High Fiber Organic Hemp Protein Powder ( from Whole Foods). I couldn't believe how quickly it worked and I have been pooping pretty regular ever since. I make a shake for breakfast every other day with 3 tblsp of Hemp Protein Powder, 1 tsp of chia seeds, 1 cup frozen berries, 1 banana, 2 tblsp of Chobani Vanilla yogurt, and water. Sooooo Yummy! I also try to add just the chiaa seeds to my Oatmeal, yogurt or salads. They can really be added to so many things and you can even bake with them! Going to try that this weekend. Ahyway I hope I've helped. Bombs away! LOL

How is your sodium intake? That makes my scale tip :(

    Maybe more fiber & water...

If you aren't opposed to it, coffee/ caffeine helps move things along. Sometimes I take Senna pills to keep things moving too.

Try Ones Prunes (individually wrapped prunes) or any prunes for that matter. 2-3 before bedtime every nite and you will be regular in a couple of days. Then every other day is fine....

Maybe it would help your digestive tract if you would fast and only drink water until you are able to poop again. Its backed up and by continuing to eat i imagine its making it harder for it to catch up. Just a thought, thats what i would do.

I agree about the Miralax ( or Restoralax as it's called in Canada.... also known as peg powder, in generic )

I eat a TON of fiber... but all the extra protein has really, seriously, significantly slowed me down. I USED to be ever 3 days. Then it was 1x a week.

I started taking Restoralax two weeks ago - a tablespoon in my afternoon coffee. It took about a week to work and I haven't taken it since I ran out on Friday.

    I'm still going.

Pretty sure I've lost three inches around my middle though!

If I eat too much fiber I get bloated and sore. Prune juice works better for me (and it's delicious!). Also agree about yoghurt and pro-biotics - they are a life-saver for all manner of tummy problems.

ETA - Oh, and licorice! Or licorice tea.

More fiber usually makes things WORSE for me. One thing that really makes a very noticeable positive difference, however, is regularly (3-4x/week) eating yogurt. I prefer greek yogurt.

And if you're uncomfortable and looking to "clear it out", try a salt water flush. It's pretty gross, but totally safe & natural and believe me, it works. (Make sure you can stay at home for at least an hour!)
