FT4 is a bit cheaper, FT7 does everything the FT4 does plus has some extra features. It all depends on what you need for your goals. :-)0 -
i really want it to measure my calories and for me to keep y heart rate/fitness in check. But for calories in the main...
Do any of you guys use the chest strap too?0 -
yep you have to use the chest strap in conjunction with the watch it gives max HR average HR calories burned and time in zone as well as total time0

Yep it comes with the chest strap and you have to use it. That's how it tracks your heartrate and it has to have that number to estimate your calories.0 -
LOVE IT!!!!!!0

Yup love mine too. Plus it is pink :laugh:0

Best investment so far.0

The FT7 has more features and a larger memory and the ability to change the battery yourself.0 -
I have it and love it.
It usually makes me push through my exercise routine just to see a higher calorie burn than last time I worked out.0 -
I just got mine 2 days ago and LOVE it it is my first HRM so I think its good to get used to that before using a more expensive one with more features because Im still kind of getting used to it with the buttons can be confusing but once you use it for activity youll love it too, mine is pink also I got it from bodytronics and put in a coupon code and got it just under $600

It is only a watch and timer if you don't use the chest strap, that is what sends your HR signal to the watch to calculate calories burned.0 -
So the FT4 you have to send it away to get the battery changed ?0

I love mine and my husband liked it so much he got the man's version!0

Got one about a month ago (FT4) and I think it is the best value HRM on the market. It doesn't do all the functions that the others do, (like tracking calorie intake, but that's why we use this site!) and since it doesn't do all those functions it is very easy to use.
Like you, I just wanted heart rate and calories burned, and it does both those things very well....0 -
I have the polar FT7 with the chest strap and I LOVE it!!! Best invest ever for my fitness needs...0
-
I have it in Pink and love it. And you have to wear the strap for it to track your heart rate. It's comfortable though, I don't even notice it while I am working out. It works for me!!!0

Yup love mine too. Plus it is pink
Mine's grey and I am happy with it.0 -
No...the FT4: User-replaceable battery. Love mine!0

I bought an FT4 about a month ago and absolutely love it. I find its motivating when I use it because I have a more clear idea of how well I am working out. I also find it easy to use.
I also looked into the difference between the FT4 and the FT7. What the store manager told me, and what was validated by polar is that they have the same functions. The only difference is that the FT7 allows you to create a profile on the polar website to use in training and to track your workouts. I figured since I already have MFP to do that, the FT7 wasn't worth the extra money.
I was told that's the only difference. I also know people who ahve the FT7 - and I have never heard of them being able anything that I can't do with the FT4.0 -

I just recently changed mine on my own. They recommend not doing it yourself if its still under warranty and replacing the seal for the back, but there isn't any place available near where in live (western canada). Really easy to replace on your own and I've had no problems with it since replacing the battery.0 -
My FT4 came with a chest strap.0

I LOVE IT...USE IT WITH EVERY WORKOUT...ITS A GREAT MOTIVATION..DEFINITELY WORTH THE INVESTMENT!!0

I have one. best investment i ever made towards my weight loss goals. The one day i forgot to take it to the gym, i was so miserable because i couldnt track calories burned.0
-
Did you purchase at a local retailer or online?0
-
Love mine. Got it from Amazon (US). Love the functions, timer, calorie counter etc. I can change the battery myself.
I had a few issues with it not immediately picking up my heartrate, but if i leave going it while i put my shoes on etc, by the time i'm ready it's reading it.
If i recall, the FT4 sold in the UK didn't have the cal counter, but i could be wrong.0 -
I've had mine for about a month. Love it! I paid too much for it at Best Buy (found it later on Amazon and other sites for much less), but I was impatient. I agree with the other reviews; it's probably the best investment I've made with the exception of my gym membership and personal training sessions. Wel worth it, even if I did pay too much for mine.
(and mine's pink too. :flowerforyou:)0
