What is your biggest pet peeve at the gym

lol I'm totally guilty of texting while working out...but, I have swype texting and am not one of those people that needs to hold on to the treadmill like it's leaving so I just continue to jog while I send back a quick text. It works for me!
Mine is those people who are obviously too busy focused on what others are doing and not paying attention to what they are doing! I sat down to take a short break (I have small tables in the corners at my gym for that purpose) and saw a couple of girls fully clad in makeup who were laughing at someone on another treadmill (I was close enough to hear them) it was so rude! Luckily for me, I don't give a damn what others think when I'm there. I dress how I want, take my purse everywhere with me (so long as it's not in anyone's way), text while jogging, spend only five minutes at a time on each machine sometimes, and if I want to wear mascara, damned if I care who's judging me for it...though I'll add...why?! That **** is too damn messy if you get all sweaty, which most people do (hopefully) :laugh:0 -
My pet peeve is people that do curls in the squat rack. Usually some knucklehead with chicken legs that's never done a squat in their life.0
-
the size zero that wines and complains LOUDLY to everyone about how she just cant lose the 15 lbs she wants to wile wearing a hot pink freaking bikkini in the gym omg i want to slap this b#$%* every time i see her0
-
When people don't clean/ wipe off the machines after they use It's soooo gross! YUCK!0
-
people in the gym conversating and not working out so the next person can use the machine0
-
Perfume queens and cologne kings. Sweat + strong scent = eau de parfum of salami. :sad:0
-
The GUYS (most girls do it while they do cardio) that sit on the weight machine that I plan on ripping on and TEXT THE ENTIRE TIME! Hello?!?! You do not get rep credit for texting your #$$!@%^ girlfriend! Get out of my way!0

So at the gym i go to there is a circuit training room and the idea of the room is to start at one machine and do everything until you get to the last one. The machines are numbered 1-20 and one day i was the only person in the room and i was on machine 5 when a mother and her daughter came in and started doing it also, now this did not bother me...until they started going backwards and doing all the machines out of order making it so i had to skip some and go to the next. The nice person that i am did not say anything but i was really frustrated with it......
Ok so that was my rant for the day..what is your biggest pet peeve at the gym?
OMG! You must go to Planet Fitness as well! This kills me when idiots don't follow the rules. Just the other day there was only 4 of us in the 30 minute express room & I had trouble with ALL 3! Finally I said something to the 3rd guy & he got mad & walked out. I've ignored this for far too long and will not any longer. Going to the staff does not help. If you don't follow the circuit as intended, YOU'RE GONNA CATCH AN EAR FULL FROM ME! :explode: :grumble:
My thoughts exactly...I belong there!0 -
I have a few of them:
- Not putting weights back where they go. Example you leave the leg press loaded with like 1000 lbs.
- Guys using bad form to try and curl that 60lbs dumbbell when they should be only using 25-30lbs at most.
- Not using a lock on your locker...and you wonder why there is thievery in this world.
- People in spin class that have zero load on the resistance and they think they are in a race just because they are spinning faster then everyone else.0 -
I do have one annoying pet peeve...
The gym I go to.... has a room with like 8 hanging bags.... I strongly dislike the guy who decides he needs 7 of those hanging bags to do whatever TAE BO MMA wannabe work out he is doing ...
Or when couples are making out and touchy feely... in the gym ...I don't pay my 30 bucks a month to watch two people kiss for an hour... Blech... just thinking of sexual contact in a gym makes me queasy0 -
This is completely unrelated, but I just want to say how excited I am for the weather to turn, for it to be warm and sunny again so I can go walking and exploring outside!!!0
-
People who set their big gym bags on the treadmill beside them. It's so rude.
I do this.....not sure why it's rude as it is in nobodys way.0 -
Mine is the people, mostly guys, who carry a gallon of water around the gym. There is no way they are going to drink all that water, and why is a water bottle not enough? It seems more of a fashion statement than anything else.0
-
Here are mine:
1. For heaven's sake, you can read. Follow the instructions. Wipe the machines.
2. Please leave your poor young child with a baby sitter. You can't focus on your work out if you're supervising him/her. I just don't think it's safe to let him/her run around a gym where people are lifting heavy objects. You deserve the break. Let someone else take care of the kid for two hours.
3. Deodorant is your friend. Use it.
4. Perfume is great, and I think yours smells lovely. However, you bought the good kind and that means it has a very rich, powerful odor. Use a dab, not the bottle.0 -

I think the original poster meant not on your treadmill, but on the next one over. I've seen people that workout on one treadmill and leave their bag on another treadmill as if they were saving it for someone. Fine, if your friend is in the potty and is right there. Not cool if you save a treadmill for no one for more than 15 min. There are other people at the gym.0 -
This happened to me, except for he still wont leave me alone, even when he sees me walk in the gym with my boyfriend he still makes it a point to interrupt me when i clearly do not want to be bothered.0

my pet peeve is people complaining about sweaty bodies! my gosh people it is just water for gosh sakes!!!0

thanks....misread...set mine on the floor right next to the treadmill that I'm currently on....yes, those kind of people should be tripped while on the treadmill.0 -
next time you should let them know cause they probably thought doing what they want is ok and that its not rude .ive had that happen alot in the circit room at my gym if they are not doing it in some sort of order i let um know and they usually say they didnt know how the room works and i havent ever had a bad responce either. so i think you should definitly let them know.0

the biggest think i hate at the gym is people doing everything but not working out ! usually on there i phones playing or texting they can do all the talk text and game playing outside!0
-
When people get on the machine right next to you even though there is an entire row of machines available. I also hate it when people wear a ton of cologne/perfume and/or no deodorant.
This too! Must be 20 treadmills with only 5 in use, and you choose to climb up next to me? Prepare to get sweat slung in your direction!
Guilty! But I have a good reason....I work out at our YMCA, and we really don't have that many machines, and they are all different! So, unfortunately, I don't like change, so if you're next to the machine I'm used to, I'm gonna be your neighbor, lol. If there is another one that I'm comfortable on that is further down, I'll choose that one though.0 -
Ahhhh so that was you then?? : I work out at the YMCA, too.0
-
folks who don't wipe down the equipment afterwards which is our gym's policy0
-
Guys who use the ONLY squat rack to do bicep curls with the barbell. C'mon, man, there are plenty of dubmbells and pre-set barbells out on the floor, and this is the only place I can squat!
The lady who does "dynamic stretching" on her way from machine to machine. I've nearly been hit/kicked a number of times!
Yes, I am guilty of the makeup thing. I work out on my lunch break. Sorry.0 -

Props to you for being in league with the young single girls after you've been married for a while with two kids! What that trainer did shows that he's a jerk - but it also shows that you still got it!!The in- house personal trainer who was all flirty and complimentary etc, then asked me if I was single.
When I said "no I'm happily married with 2 teenage boys" - he basically lost interest, ran away, and has never been helpful since.
But is is VERY helpful to all the single ladies - lol.
At least there are still some normal trainers there...he just makes me feel awkward now!!0 -
People who don't wipe down equipment after sweating all over it.
And farting.... Nothing worse than breathing in a fart when the guy on the treadmill next to you let's one rip! The dingy gym air just makes them linger foreverrrrrrr lol.0 -
Guys (not being sexist, but it's ALWAYS guys who do this) who rack up a ton of weights on something, do one set and move on to another exercise without removing their weights. When you say something to them, it's all "oh, I'm gonna do another set in a bit". Well, nice for you but I'd like to use that NOW.0
-
Ppl who pass gas OMG lol
That used to be me running on the treadmill I had to cut out so many veggies I love those cucumbers. I had to quit eating them I think they were getting ready to kick me out.
And or two ladies on cardio equipment going very slowly chatting at each other for 45 minutes while im waiting0 -
Woops double post which I could delete it0
