Best bread to eat?

I have to find this Ezekiel bread... the pitas I eat are made by Haddad Bakery (I'm in Ontario, Canada), they are the 'high protein' ones. I've seen a similar one (though not as high in protein or fiber, or low in carbs or calories). I've not found anything even close to the nutritionals on these... 100 calories, 10 g Fiber, 10 g Protein 16g Carbs for a whole pita. (Even the 'high fiber' ones aren't as high in fiber!! lol!)0

We go back and forth between Arnold's Healthfull Flax and Fiber and their Grains and More Double Fiber breads. Both are nice fiber content and generally low calorie.
Per Slice:
Flax and Fiber - 80 calories, 1g total fat, 140 mg sodium, Total Carbs 16g, Fiber 4g, Protein 5g
Double Fiber - 100 calories, 1.5g total fat, 150 mg sodium, 21 Total Carbs, Fiber 6g, Protein 4g0 -
I like the Silver Hills Squirrelly bread. It's dense enough to keep me satisfied longer than white bread, and tastes great. My bf calls it hippie bread and maintains it's made from twigs and bark, but he just doesn't know what he's missing! Copied some stuff from the website...
Our non-GMO vegan ingredients:
Organic whole sprouted wheat*, raisin nectar (raisins, water), sesame seeds, water, sunflower seeds, vital wheat gluten, yeast, sea salt, cultured wheat and citric acid.
*Certified Organic. May contain tree nuts and soy.

I've heard that pumpernickel bread is a better choice than whole wheat bread.
It contains more minerals and fiber than whole wheat bread.0 -
Dave's Killer Bread is a little more calorie dense (about 130 for a slice) but it has 4g of fiber, 6g of protein and 610mg omega 3. If you happen to be looking for a more nutritional bagel, Dave's bagels have 11g fiber, 14g protein and 1360mg omega 3 for 310 calories. I only eat half at a time because they are 100% whole grain and very filling.
I love the bread, but where do you find the bagels?0 -
Ezekiel or homemade
homemade. now, there's a good suggestion0 -
my favorite is Wonder Smart Wheat. its 100% whole wheat, and its only 50 calories per slice. and it tastes delicious, especially toasted with some peanut butter on it!0

I've gotta jump on the Ezekiel wagon! It's really yummy. I also like the Alvarado Street Bakery flax bread.0

Cybros Brothers makes a line of sprouted grain breads that are a little more tasty than the Ezekiel breads. One thing I've noticed is I don't crave these breads like I crave regular bread.0

My favorite is Martin's Whole Wheat Potato Bread. The slices are thick and fluffy and delicious and only 70 calories a slice. I'm sure there is healthier and lower calorie options out there but Martin's is a good middle ground between healthy and tasty for me.0

I eat bread sparingly but when I do I use Sunflower Market brand nine grain or multi grain. Its flavorful and only 61 cals per slice. They bake it fresh as Sunflower Market. Its dense and chewy therefore I dont mind "spending" calories on it....its rewarding. I hate fluffy meaningless breads after you eat it you think why did I spend my calories on something that tasted like AIR LOL0

Homemade, whole grain. It takes time but isn’t time consuming. The rise (usually 2 of them) takes the longest and – nothing to do but let it happen. Kneading is great exercise and a stress reliever like I can’t even describe. It doesn’t keep for weeks on the counter (real food won’t). High in calories and carbs but loaded with nutrition.0

If it is available in your area Aunt Millie makes a Whole Grain Bread that has 35 calories per slice. It is very tasty and appears to be very healthy! Check it out and give it a try! Again if it is available in your neck of the woods!0

I use either Orowheat Multi-grain (or whole wheat) mini rounds at 100 calories for a "bun". They make a good sandwich-holder-together. Or there's Sara Lee 45 calorie breads. Sara Lee has wheat, multi-grain and whole grain white bread. The whole grain white bread has more substance to me.. the others are too airy and almost melt in your mouth. The white at least seems like real bread and holds off hunger longer.0

I'm gonna have to check out this ezekial bread
If its sold over here that is!0 -
I eat pumpernickel bread, the brand is beefsteak. its 120 calories for two slices while being filling0
-
Healthy Life 30-40 calories per slice. I get the high fiber-flaxseed with omega-3 100% whole wheat whole grain.
. Tastes great too!0 -
I normally go for Silver Hills sprouted grain breads, either "Squirrelly", "Big 16" or "Steadie Eddie" . They are pretty filling, and more affordable when you purchase them at Costco. . My man often buys Safeway Organics Ancient Grain breads, pretty tasty.0

theres a bread i like really well it says 35 on the bag because it only has 35 cals0

Bump for later (got to hunt me down some of the Ezekiel stuff)0

Sprouted grain bread is the best option
If you can't find it go for whole grain (not necessarily whole wheat) with as few ingredients as possible. Avoid any with lots of sugar or high fructose corn syrup (best to avoid that one altogether)...just because it says natural doesn't mean it is so read ingredients lists.
Personally I love bread, and it's one thing I won't give up, but I have been eating less of it since I joined MFP.0 -
I eat Sara Lee 45 cals and delicious...can't tell the difference, it's great!0

Ezekial Bread, all natural, high in protein and low in sodium. This is also what my trainer suggests.
Prior to switching to Ezekial I used Sara Lee 45 & Delightful Whole Grain.0 -
I don't eat bread that much anymore but when I do I get the Ezekial Low Sodium Sprouted grain bread. I used to love cinnamon raisin bagels so my replacement is the Ezekial Cinnamon Raisin toasted with some Trader Joe's Light Organic Cream Cheese. YUM!0
-
shana_phoenix- I get the Dave's bagels, called "Good Seed Halos", in the natural foods section of the grocery store Fred Meyers. Not sure if you have those where you are but if you're finding the bread, the bagels can't be too far away0
