Should I trust the "calories burned" readout on the gym equipment and if not how do I figure out how many to record?

Sometimes the gym machines are kind of high. I would recommend a heart rate monitor or bodybugg...which I have and love. Anyway, I would log maybe 75% of what it says to be safe. The treadmill has been pretty close to me with my bodybugg, but the elliptical and stair stepper have not been as accurate.
  • Ok. Thank you. Another Question. How do I convert heart rate to calories burned? Sorry. Just quit smoking and gained some weight. Impatient to get it off.
