Weekly, because your weight fluctuates throughout the week due to water weight. Also, you could find one day you've lost a pound, and the next day you've put on two. It can leave you feeling disappointed and put you off. But that's just me!

Weekly, maybe even every other week since my deficit is so small that I can't usually see a change in a week. My weight could fluctuate up to 5 pounds in a day, not useful information to weigh daily.
  • The water weight thing has me really frustrated, so I am going to start weighing weekly... I get tempted to weigh daily, but need to not become obsessed with it. That is a way that you can become to focused on the number and not the goal, which is to be healthy. I went from 156.0 to 159.8 in one day and that was after an hour and a half of tennis and sticking really well to my calories, so I was really frustrated and ready to give up, so now, I am only going to weigh once a week, the same day and time.
  • I know that I get obsessive about it, so now I don't have a scale at all... if I want to weigh myself then I go visit a friend who has a scale in their bathroom :)
  • That is a really good idea!! I already find myself going to the scale every time I step into my bathroom.

I keep my scale in the guest bathroom, so I'm not tempted to check on myself every time I'm in my own. Works pretty well for me!

I'm horrible. I weigh in daily and it is frustrating. Maybe its time to hide the scale!

I weigh in weekly. I think if I weighed in everyday I may get too discouraged.

Weekly and at my gym. I don't have a scale at home because I know I'd be on it everyday and I'd probably be disappointed. If for some reason I feel like I've done a really great job and feel like I might have lost another pound or whatever, I'll weigh myself again. So two times a week, tops.

Used to be several times a day. But now I do it Monday mornings.
  • I usually weigh in one time per month. :)
  • I weight myself in daily, but it's really not something that gets to me. I like to see how workouts, my eating, and other factors contribute as a whole to fluctuations in my weight. I only record when I'm a certain weight for a few consecutive days.

I weigh every morning. It does not upset me or anything. If I'm up, I cut back on carbs for the day. I'
m maintaining a 200 pound loss so I must stay on top of it or I will gain it all back!!

I do daily weigh ins and then average them to see my real weight loss. I also look at monthly trends.

    I <3 excel.... 'nuff said

Daily, because it is what keeps ME accountable. This topic can be "cussed and discussed" from now until eternity, but it all boils down to personal preference.

To keep myself from weighing in everyday I put my scale up. I put it up on a high shelf that I actully have to work to get it out. it works for me but right now I am weighing in three times a weeks but only because I'm doing a program that I have to go in to a office and weight in three times a week. The only time I ever gain is if I eat beef for dinner the nit before I weight in.

I weigh myself most days, I find it's a good indicator of whether I've overdone the salt for example and whether any particular food/lifestyle combo is good or bad eg eating late :O( You could say it's obvious, but I find it helpful, it keeps me "in the zone" knowing the scales are not going to lie to me the next morning! I only log my weight about once a week though, aiming for same day wherever possible.

I try and log weekly, but I weigh in every few days just to see how I'm doing.

I weigh in every morning, it helps me keep track of how poorly i did the day before, i understand our weight does fluctuate with water and other factors, but if i notice ive gained a pound or two i try to start my morning eating way healthy and just watch what i eat throughout the day... if i notice ive lost weight i continue with the routine i have going for myself. weekly would be nice but if im not on myself about it on a daily basis i tend to cheat and slack off.

I weigh weekly because of the fluctuation thing, but also because once I weigh in on Monday mornings I can close the door on the last week. Whatever happened is done, I have my result and I can concentrate on the next week, the next goal.

I tend to weigh myself daily, but the only ones that actually count are Mondays or the 1st of the month.

If the scale goes up then I don't let it get to me, but if the scale goes down I feel just a little bit better

Last week I recorded each day (just because I could). I found that my weight really is a see-saw, up one day, down the next, up again the next. (Was happy that my Monday weigh in was a "down" day  ) However, even when it had gone up from the previous day, it wasn't going higher than the day before that, so still going in the right direction

I weigh daily just out of habit and to account for my sins. I usually log my weight about every 7-10 days. This month, I logged in the days I was leveling up the 30DS and then the end of the 30 day cycle (today). I measure every time I log my weight into MFP, too. I also try to take photos.

Yes, I am one of those people that even though I am fitting into pants I could not even close 2 months ago and I feel so much better...I need the affirmations in a photo montage. So when I feel like I keep losing and gaining that same 1/2 inch, I can see my stomach is getting flatter and my legs are more toned and my arms are less wing-like.
  • Monthly..and I use measurements because the scale wasn't moving as fast as I like..but the inches are melting
  • I have been weighing in daily, in the mornings. There is a "get active" challenge going on at work where we have to record our stats every day. What seems to be working for me so far, is that I will record a loss, but if I gain, I'll record an even weight that day and see what it is the next day. If it is still a gain the next day, then I record the gain. That seems to be offsetting the fluctuations pretty well, though I wish we could do weekly for that challenge :-/.

As far as MFP, I'm making myself only record once a week, and that is the guage I am using for my personal goal rewards and the true measure of where I am.

    You look amazing! Good job
  • I admit to pulling out the scale most mornings, just because it interests me. I only "count" Friday or Saturday morning.

I have at times been obsessive about how much I weigh, but now I'm at a mindset where I know that my weight is going to fluctuate, and that is fine. But, in the same sense, weighing everyday, I KNOW that my weight is fluctuating, so if for some reason (time of month, stress, sodium, quitting coffee and having... ahem, slow digestion for a few days) my weight has fluctuated up during the first half of the week, it makes me understand why come Friday, I have lost nothing when in reality I may have lost some water weight, I picked up at the beginning of the week.

I realize weighing everyday can be a frustration, but if you can look at it as a tool to understanding how your body reacts and functions, it can be very interesting.

Daily. My weight fluctuates a lot depending on water rentition or on bowl movement so I weigh myself first thing in the morning and record every loss I have. If I would only weight myself once a week I might gain one week and then lose the next and thats a "false" loss and it to much of a mind**** for me.

Yes, I like to know if I need to cut back on something or if I am on track. I don't have the internal control over food that I need to be successful without external cues (logging, weigh-ins, the fit of my clothing, etc.).
  • I do weekly since that way i won't have daily disapoinments..if there are any.. or i get weekly surprises...
