How many calories can I burn for being judgmental?
You win a shiny new interwebz for that :flowerforyou:
Have you discussed this new interwebz with Al Gore first?0 -
Different strokes for different folks. Everyone's fitness level is different. If they want to log light house cleaning as exercise, it's a free country and I've got no problem with it.0
-
If I am cleaning and working up a sweat, then I consider it exercise, especially vacuuming. I vacuum more so that I am working up a sweat...And sometimes I put on some workout music so that I can "exercise: while dusting, etc-- jogging in place, dancing around--you get the idea........... But I find that cooking is not an exercise. Sweating in the kitchen means that the kitchen is hot........
big YES to this!!! ^^^^0 -
But if we're gonna go ahead & start banning stuff, I would like to ban Miley Cyrus. Just you know, because I want to. :devil:0

How many calories can I burn for being judgmental?
I work out 5-6 days a week on my ski machine, zumba, yoga. whatever...but
on the days when my husband is off work...it hurts his feelings to see me working out...
so I consider my laundry, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and cooking to be a bit of a burn....
I am far from lazy0 -
I think that if you've got the time and stamina to clean a lighthouse you deserve the calories.
Lots of Love

Have you ever tried to climb the steps of a lighthouse? Not even thinking about mopping each step as you go and scrubbing the walls! Anyone who has committed to lighthouse cleaning has undertaken a serious task and you should be ashamed for making...er...light of their work!0
-
I don't agree with you! I'm 67 years old and I belong to the gym also. I'm not lazy ay all! I work hard in my big home and do garden and yard work. I don't understand why it concerns you what I'm doing!

I've even seen "taking a shower" as calories burned! Really?
maybe they don't shower daily.....
  :laugh:0 -
...and here's how you can claim it.
She puts in a french maid outfit and high heels.
Grabs the vacuum
Starts to vacuum "vigorously".
:cue brown chicken brown cow: music
Have you been talking to my hubby?0 -
I second that- I really do - I understand the concept that any movement helps, but my question is - was the house always a mess before the journey of weight loss started - how about the cooking and preparation of meals, really?
Any movement does help but the every day chores are every day chores.
I am going to the dark side for being judgmental... *sigh*
Actually, my house always was a mess. Now, it's not. You also need to remember it's not just calories out that count. If you're eating 3000 cals a day, the 150 burned from housecleaning means nothing. If you're eating 1200 calories, and burning 150 from housecleaning, it means a hell of a lot.0 -

^^this^^0 -
Wow, I bet it's fun to be YOUR friend. WTF do you care what someone else considers exercise? Frankly I NEVER clean my own house, I pay someone to do it. So those rare times when I do a deep clean I have worn my HRM and I do break a sweat. Of course I'm a fat@ss so what's strenuous and burns calories for me probably wouldn't do a thing for someone as fit and awesome as yourself.
^^ This. Word for word.0 -
Complaining about how people log their own caloric burns is like complaining about someone eating a donut in front of you when you're on a diet. Your choices and opinions don't have to match up with their own, because they don't affect each other. Get over it.0
-
I think cleaning this would burn a LOT of calories.
HILARIOUS! I'd log it! LOL0 -
i am SO going to log this! ...wait ...that means i have to clean the house. nevermind.0
-
what do you have against that? There are some people that cant do much and something like this is a form of excercise. I think we shouldnt judge what/how a person chooses to exercise. Plus I wear a body media fit link and when I do vigious cleaning I burn ALOT!
To each his own...but im just saying....
Peace0 -

You are Fabulous sir!!!0 -
I think I love you.0

here's how i solve this age old mfp debate: by NOT CLEANING... problem solved   :laugh:0
-
Honestly for some of us who are at a 1200 calorie a day limit this is actually a validate workout....for an hour I have burned 200 calories before....That as much as a 15 minute work out on the eliptical or bike.....and not to mention if I didn't count that I would be in a deficit. GRANTED I do other exercises...... I just think that this is alittle hypocritical to be perfectly honest not everyone that counts this is "LAZY"0

You can burn calories in the shower................................0 -
When I first started here, I was over 400 lbs, and "light house cleaning" left me in a sweat with back pain so severe I could cry. It's not about whether or not it's work for YOU, it's about whether or not it's work for the person doing it. I know you think you were being funny, but really, you were belittling and ridiculing the efforts of others. I don't enter "light house cleaning" anymore unless I've gone on an hour-long sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming binge that leaves me sweating. Otherwise, that's not exercise for ME anymore. But it is for someone, and I'm not about to giggle at them and tell them that their efforts aren't worthy of consideration.
You should try that.0 -
Just burned 7 calories from a Bowel Movement.0
-
You can not judge what people consider exercise. Each of us is at our own personal stage. If light housekeeping is banned then slow walking should be as well, then what, when YOU get to YOUR next level are you going to ban the next thing??? Instead of calling others lazy, maybe you should encourage.
Well put0 -

It's actually quite fun being his friend
I see his point and I see yours also. The bigger problem is the fact you got so worked up over a silly post
Also light housecleaning does not do anything calories burned wise bc if it had I would be in great shape because I clean a mean house DAILY!
Are you kidding me right now? Because cleaning or not cleaning your house is the ONLY factor in losing weight. Maybe youstuff your judgemental mouth with doritos every day? *****, I don't know your life! What do you really know about people who log the cleaning they do?
Just so you know, it's completely possible to judge people without pointing it out to them. I do it every day for whiners like this. It just takes some practice.0 -
For some people doing light house cleaning is a way to get them started on doing more.
Everyone journey is different. I think there is enough judgment out there, we need to encourage every effort.0 -

So if I run 5 miles a day a shouldn't count that as exercise? Great logic.
Seriously what does running 5 miles a day have anything to do with cleaning? Two VERY different things
As far as logging it goes there's no way someone should look at that and feel accomplished at the end of my day I like to look back and know I've pushing past boundaries. Ppl taking the easy way [which aren't always people that are so big they can't work out] are the main ones complaining that they haven't lost weight. Push yourself people0
