My name is Jessica and I am looking for friends that have the same goals in mind. I've been trying to lose weight for a while and I think that having friends to hold me accountable is just what I need. I would like to share this experience with someone and I think it would be easier not to go through this alone.

Hi Jessica! I haven't been on here long, and only lost 5 lbs. - haven't even been tracking my food or exercising much this week - got off track - however, thanks to two of my fitness pals, tomorrow will be a better day - your pals WILL motivate you and keep you going on days when you don't feel like it! Exercise (anything) and water are key components - also, trying to eat 6 small meals a day will keep your blood sugar at an even keel to keep your metabolism burning........apple slices with a little peanut butter really helps me. Send me a note to let me know how you're doin! -keep on swimmin, swimmin, swimmin! - Sharon

Welcome to MFP. It is a wonderful site. I have been using it for one year now (my one year anniversary was yesterday) and have been able to lose 65.5 pounds (I have about another 15 pounds to go). Just take it one day at a time, log in your food intake (as much as possible) and start moving and you will see some positive results. Feel free to add me as a friend :-)

Welcome Jessica! I've been on mfp for two weeks now, and I'm loving it! I also have 100+ to lose, feel free to add me. (:
  • Hi Jessica. My name is Marlana. I started on this journey 3 years ago. I am trying to take it slow so that it is easier to keep off. I had 80 lbs to lose and so far I have lost 40. It has not been easy. I have had a lot of stress in my life as of lately...disabled husband and my daughter diagnosed and fighting cancer, but if you want it bad enough, you can do it. There is nothing that can stop you if it is what you really want. I never realized that until my daughter was diagnosed. Stress is one of the biggest hurdles when losing weight and I was able to do it at my age (48). If I can do it anyone can. I have been a big girl for most of my life and now I feel so much better. I know I am only half way there but I also know I will get there.
You can do this!!!!! And don't let anyone tell you different.
  • Hello Jessica my name is Jessica! I also need to lose over a 100lbs! Feel free to add me! :flowerforyou:

I just signed up and have about the same to lose. I've been on another program but stalled out and stopped applying myself. I actually think I'll get more support here, so I am open to building a friend network here.

I started with 123# to lose and currently have just 28# left. My diary is open and I have good days and bad days.....my good days far "outweigh" the bad so I continue to lose (slowly at this point!) and that is what counts!

I wish you the best! You *can* do it!

ETA: I'm not really adding people, but I get asked about how I did it so often that I blogged about it. Feel free to take a look if you want.

Add me! Add me! I need to lose a ton of weight! And am having a hard time getting motivated enough to make it thru a whole day without backsliding on the eating! And exercise? No way! That's not even a blip on my radar yet! I feel like I just must not be ready emotionally, but I am oh-so-ready physically!!! I need a swift kick in the rump to get me going!!!!!!

    Hi!

I just signed up but have been on this journey for more than 30 years! Have only recently (July 2011) found the eating plan that works for me and the weight has been melting off.

The weight loss was an unexpected happy side effect of managing my allergies and arthritis.

The biggest problem I am facing is from colleagues and so-called friends... Everyone is a critic of my healthy eating plan (too much fat, not enough carbs, shouldn't have chocolate, etc) You name it, I`ve heard it! But I`m sure you have too. People who never spoke to me before seem to believe it is ok to ask how much I`ve lost and a full range of other personal questions.

As much as I would love to tell them to butt out I have to maintain a degree of professionalism that is required within the workplace.

Any suggestions of how to deal with what I perceive as their rudeness, would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! And welcome! I will be your friend! I have 100 pounds to lose as well.

At MFP, you don't have to do it alone!

    You CAN do this!!
  • I think that most people ask questions about your weight loss probably because they are looking for some tips of their own and most people throw in their two cents because they think they know it all but some people really care. The best thing to do is thank the person for their suggestion and let them know that you have a system that works and you'll keep their suggestion in mind. For other random people who just start asking you personal questions I would keep in mind that they are probably in need of help or tips. I would reverse the questions to them and say " Why do you ask, are you looking for some pointers"? and make it about them and not about you. You may even make some new work out friends.
