Bump !!! I want to know too0

I have been logging it as 20min circuit training, but I need to get a HRM so that I know exactly what I am burning. I think the calorie burn is different for everyone. When I log it it says around 190 calories0
-
I'm on Level 3, and up until a couple of days ago, I was logging it as "Circuit Training, General" for 20 minutes, and it was saying 163 calories. I bought a HRM at the beginning of this week, and so for for the 27 minutes the lowest was 271 and the highest was 291.0

I was wondering the same thing!0

I just got a heart rate monitor and my calories average between 225-285 depending on which level I do. I also got heavier weights (8 lbs)... I was using 5 lbs. hop this helps If you want to know specific levels i can wear it and do that level lol
Today I did ripped in 30 and burned around 320 that was with the cool down on level 20 -
I also log it as Circuit Training, General. It's about 217 calories for me for the 27 minutes. I need to invest in a HRM though because I don't think that is very accurate.0

I am 5'6 and I was 140 and 20yrs old when I did a few days of 30DS. My average calorie burn for Lvl 1 was 230 calories.
Also I am super weak and have shoulder problems so I was using no weights0 -
It depends on your height, weight, how hard you work, etc. Get a HRM.0

GET AN HRM.
Honestly.. best thing you can do if you are serious about tracking calorie burn.0 -

circuit training here on MFP closely matched the amount i got with my heart rate monitor. wish i had known they were so accurate before i bought it! but since it is an estimate, make sure you're actually working the whole time you input. of course it'll be wrong if you include the times you were just standing around lol
(it's practically accurate since they both use height/weight/age/gender)0 -
I use a HRM. The other night I did level 1 and burned 225 calories, using 5 lb weights.0

Been getting 400 or better...but of course I'm a 6' tall, 225lb person with some body fat to lose.
I think this just shows that it depends on each individuals circumstances and the only true way to determine, is with a HRM. Too many variables to account for ie. body type, age, weight, intensity performed, etc. A more fit person will burn less calories doing the exact same exercise as my fat butt will.0 -
When I did the 30DS, I put in 25 minutes{ that is w/out cool~down} and put it under "circuit training". Now, mind you, I do not have a HRM. I lost weight { when doing 30DS I was in my healthy BMI} and inches. Blessings to you and may you have success!!! :flowerforyou:0

I have lost 46lbs without a HRM. I'm tired of people acting like it's the only way. I just do 20 min circuit training.0

I tried my dvd for the first time this week. Hopefully you get extra calories from getting mad and cussing at her! It was hard hard hard for this newbie!!0

Not saying the only way to lose weight is with a HRM. But it's most definitely the only way to get the most accurate reading for calories burned.0 -

An HRM is still just an estimation and nobody should regard it as "the only true way" to measure calories burned.0 -
Thanks everyone for all your imput! I'm definitely going to get a HRM but until then I at least know what to estimate it to!0

A heart rate monitor is the way to go with these types of workouts. I find my calories burned vary day to day, even though the work out is exactly the same. Just like using a treadmill, elliptical, exercise bike, walk around the park, or sports; you never use the same level of effort. My difference can be as much as 30-80 calories just depends on how tired my body is from the day or from previous workouts, sleep deprivation is also a factor.
I love when my body starts to feel tighter. The only issue I have, just ask many others, is keeping up with it and working out everyday as the program states. I even tried every other day with a cardio day in-between. Can only stick with it for a week - 2 max. It is a good short, fun, and easy work out. Plus you can sweat a lot on those high energy days.
If you do not want to or can not buy a HR monitor then use the CIRCUIT Training option as indicated by the others. Then add some Cardio just to make sure you cover any calories you may have missed by having a low energy day. Extra Cardio can never hurt as long as you go at a pace that is comfortable to you.0 -
I burn 200 I am 5'2 weight 124 per the HRM I have a polar FT60 that is one of the most accurate ones.0

I'm 5'4", 26 years old and weigh 145lbs. I'm using 1lb weights as I have no upper body strength! My HRM said Level 1 was 160cals burned (on average) and level 2 is 150cals (on average). 20 minutes of Circuit Training on MFP comes to 220cal for me so it's quite a difference.
Hope that helps some! :flowerforyou:0 -

Do you have a more accurate method?0 -
Bump too hard to give full input on Android.0

it depends on your weight, height and how hard your pushing.... I use a heart rate moniter and it varies from 200-250 calories. I'm on level 3 day 7 .... I'm 5ft 3 and weigh 1830

It depends on your height, weight, how hard you work, etc. Get a HRM.
This! I used to post it as circuit training, then bought a HRM and it said I was burning a third of the calories I thought I was! Mind you, I was still losing weight and inches when I was posting it as circuit training0 -
After we figure this one out anyone know the calorie burn for zumba on the wii lol0

Same here, MFP tends to overestimate quite a bit.0
