I tried to, when I had tonsillitis, but I panicked about weight gain and went back. So, not too well.0

I wasn't able to log in for about a week recently, I stayed on track for the most part but I found myself wanting sugary cakes and stuff waaaay more when I didn't know how many cals I had in the day.0

I took my spring break off- honestly its been reeeally hard to get back into it. and i was OBSESSED with logging before and I really enjoyed doing it- but it's a lot harder than I thought it'd be to get back into the swing of things. good luck!!0

Today is day 425 for me here on MFP. I've logged in everyday, but didn't log my food the week we went to Disney World this past summer. I just watched what I ate and the amounts (I shared a lot of food with my sons), and I actually ended up losing 3 pounds that week, probably due to all the walking around (11 hours each day).0

I've never taken off more than a couple of days... I'm too afraid of the back slide0
-
Nope, not since I started this Dec 31st......:)0

Yes I have taken a break from logging. I went off for about 2 1/2 months I still lost but it was a longer process because there were days where I didn't watch what I was eating and then those days were I did. The longest I logged off for was 2 1/2 months. I only lost 5 pounds but I was still happy with that. Anyone can loose weight and I think once your body gets trained on a certain calorie based diet it knows when it is full or if you have gone over your limit. Good Luck and dont feel bad if you stop logging for a while if you feel your over doing it log back in. :happy:0

Not in 5 months. I am not responsible to do this on my own, and even now I'm pregnant I am still logging, so I don't gain too much weight.0

About one day out of every two weeks, I do not log.
Today is my "not logging" day.
It's just a day off. I don't really eat differently, I still do active stuff, I just take off a day from logging.
I plan it in advance, it is one day, then I go back to logging. Keeps me sane.0 -
After I was at a plateau for several months, I took several months off and I didn't gain or lose, I think I mentally needed it and now that I am back to tracking I still have not lost so I guess it worked for me!0

I have not taken a break from logging in over 400 days. It's so second nature now! That said, I have taken breaks from exercise to heal from injuries/sickness as well as I am currently taking a break from a calorie deficit by eating at maintenance for a week or so
I feel like I might eventually be able to live without logging, but I really like the accountability!

I always take a break on the weekends... I shouldn't though.. :"(0

I'm an unrealistic eater, so I need to log to fully "own" what I put in my mouth. By unrealistic I mean:
1. I totally overestimate portion size
2. I have a tendency to graze far, far too much!0 -
I take breaks whenever I go visit my boyfriend. I hate trying to guess calories in food when there's no barcode to scan or the restaurant isn't a chain, meaning no nutrition facts online.
I refuse to stress myself over calorie counting.0 -
I have taken a few cheat days when I stop logging that day, but when my friend visited I didn't log that weekend. I wouldn't recommend it. It was so hard to get back into logging regularly, even though I was so adamant about it before.0

I've tried it...failed. In the past before using MFP I tried keeping a journal, but it wasn't as exact as MFP. This site is the ONLY thing that keeps me from going back to how I used to be.0
-
Pretty much every Saturday and Sunday - and just dandy0
-
No way. Can't think about not logging. Keeps me honest about what I eat. It is good for me to know how many calories I have left to play with.0
-
Well I haven't yet, we'll see though when I reach maintenance, I'm not sure how long after that I will keep going, by then the eating habits will be pretty entrenched since I'm creating patterns for each meal, now if I was going to go off the rails for a weekend or event I would log so I could see what happened, lol.0

i used to have a very hectic job where i barely logged what i ate, but i always tried to support my friends as much as i could; now i have a different situation and i do try logging everything i eat but im not consistent. i go to "quiet" periods where ill check what my friends are doing but that's about it.0

I have to log everything. It's a very appealing activity for the obsessive compulsive person. Yesterday I was sick and could only stomach cottage cheese and rice cakes. At the end of the day, even though I had measured every half cup carefully, the carton looked like it was missing more than a cup and a half, so I logged an extra serving whether I had eaten it or not.
I'm going into the hospital in a couple of weeks and the only thing worrying me is how I'll keep track of the food without a computer and with someone else serving it up. I don't think they'll appreciate it in the kitchen at St. Vinnies if I call up and ask them to measure everything for me and tell me how much is on the plate. It really is bugging me.0 -
no. i will most likely log for the rest of my life.
when i lost the last pound, i promised myself that i would never again put myself through the lose weight / gain it back nightmare again. i will do my best to keep that promise.0 -
So far I have logged everyday since I started in late November 2011, its like second nature now and just part of my lifestyle. Even on those days I eat whatever I want I still log. I don't see me stopping anytime soon.0

Has anyone taken a break from logging? How did it go?
I reached my goal weight a few years back and then stopped logging. I put two thirds of the weight back on.
In my own case it was a case of couldn't see food and drink logged in black and white so I pretended that what I was eating was okay, but it wasn't.
This time when I reach my goal, I will continue to log for maintenance,.0 -
I took a break for 8 months and gained 20+ lbs back - I'm working on getting that back off now and logging is an essential part of that.0
-
Only for a day or two when it was just crazy. But, I kept a log in my head!
I have just gone into maintenance mode and I plan to continue to log every day for 3 months. If I'm doing okay at the end of that 3 months, I was thinking about logging intermittently… first maybe 4 days a week, or maybe every other week, or something like that. I don't think I can ever quit logging. I think it would be too easy for me to gradually increase my portions without maybe even being conscious of it, if I wasn't actually ever weighing or measuring my food.

I've been on MFP for over a year, and I have taken several breaks when I thought that I had healthy eating under control. I always gained a few pounds before I start logging again. I still go a day or two sometimes when I don't log, but long term not-logging simply doesn't work for me.0
-
I didn't log while I was on vacation last week, and even though I thought I ate well and definitely got plenty of exercise, I gained 2lbs. I've only been here since late January, so I guess I just haven't learned what proper portions are yet and don't keep track of my calories as closely as I thought I did. So it will be a while before I skip logging again.0
-
I haven't stopped logging for a minute.
There was even a dose of apple cider vinegar I had the other day and I logged it even though it supposedly has zero calories.
I'm enjoying the benefits of MFP too much to stop logging.0 -
When I wasn't logging consistently, it wasn't going well. But it was because I was making bad choices and didn't want to have to see it all written down. So far, logging helps me. Obviously I'd like to get to the point where I don't need to log, as this isn't something I want to do forever, but that's a long ways away for now.0
