mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I love stuffed mushrooms.
Adding some artificial crab meat gets some protein in it as well, tiny squares of Provolone cheese melted on top in oven does not add many more calories either....
crab and spinach .... so good0 -
Stuffed Mushrooms ohh my!
Ingredients
24 whole fresh button mushrooms
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Clean mushrooms with a damp paper towel. Carefully break off stems. Chop stems extremely fine, discarding tough end of stems.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and chopped mushroom stems to the skillet. Fry until any moisture has disappeared, taking care not to burn garlic. Set aside to cool.
When garlic and mushroom mixture is no longer hot, stir in cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, black pepper, onion powder and cayenne pepper. Mixture should be very thick. Using a little spoon, fill each mushroom cap with a generous amount of stuffing. Arrange the mushroom caps on prepared cookie sheet.
Bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the mushrooms are piping hot and liquid starts to form under caps.
These are wonderful!!!! After putting all the ingredients in MFP recipe calculator, they were only 19 calories a piece!!!
How can I save this recipe to try later?0 -

I love " Mushrooms " ... stuffed, sauteed, raw ... you name it ! But, I have to question your calories for these ... I just want to point out that there is approx 792 calories in 8oz of cream cheese alone ... and that divided by 24 servings = about 33 calories per button. Add 7 calories for each button mushroom and then the oil, and few others including the cheese. Still this is a very low calorie treat by far ... but I would guess the calories come in more around 50 per button ... cut the cream cheese in half and your set !
Thanks for sharing ... Again, I mean no disrespect ... just we all tend to count the calories !
Enjoy ! :drinker:
I use 1/3 less fat cream cheese OR fat free cream cheese and that really lowers the calories.
I have a version of mushrooms similar to this but I add a couple slices of crumbled bacon to mine and I have that figured at about 26 calories each. And they are delicious.0 -

Is there a way to surf the MFP recipes? I've submitted a few myself for the database, but am not sure if there is a way to search others (outside of this forum).
