The scale can become your worse enemy! Or best friend. Depending on how you ise it.0
-
i sneak up on my scale like a thief in the night, and step on it like Im trying not to break the eggs on it somehow thinking i may weigh less if it doesn't notice me right way..lol0
-
My scale is heavy. And topped with glass. Not sure I wanna leave that lying in the road.0
-
Yes I tend to think mine lies to me...the clothes fit differently so that is bonus even though the scales does not seem to want to move.......maybe it is on it's way out...lol0

I join you in the 'TOSS THE SCALE' party. I just weighed myself a few days ago and was glad...lost 32 lbs I have not been on a scale since i started using MFP back in Dec. 11....I am not a fan of always being on the scale...it can break your motivation if you ask me...so yes let's do it toss that puppy right out the window...or front door....which ever you choose.0

My scale provides useful information that I try to approach as objectively as possible. It may not be true for you, but some people let their weight creep up because they don't have the regular feedback of a scale. Then they're surprised that they've gained a lot of weight. I don't like surprises.0

True! Thats why I said it can be your worse enemy or best friend. In this case best friend. Unless your goal is to increase lean muscle mass, which in turn is healthier than being skinny fat. Trust me, i go through this emotional roller coaster with scale ALL the time.0 -

OMG this is hilariouos and so me.0 -
:drinker: Yeppers I agree 100%.0

sometimes the weight gain is lean muscle mass. If we are sedentary and start exercising even if you don't lift weights you gain some weight because your muscles tone up0

Good job on your weightloss thus far!0 -

YES! TOSS IT!! LOL!0 -
I wish I could join the no-scale movement but the last time I did, I gained 35 pounds! I absolutely love the philosophy behind it, but I know I too easily delude myself, lol. Plus, the way I carry extra weight, I have to gain a lot before it's really that noticeable. No scale is dangerous for me!0

For the love of God! Dont do it then!! :-)0 -

I acknowledge that for some people the scale info is more of a burden than a boon. If I ate more or less the same number of calories every day, exercised religiously (I'm recovering from an injury at the moment), and never deviated from my regime I might be willing to try consulting the scale less.
I have a scale that provides a body fat percentage estimate as well as the weight. I watch that number just as closely.
Whatever works.0 -
The scale is more of a nightmare if you fret over the fluctuations you get from day to day, which I tend to do.
I find I only have to eat a bit closer to weigh in, to have a Ib up, or to have had a bread or oat product and find it is up.
I do wish it remained exactly the same from day to day, but it doesn't seem to happen.
I was 125.8 yesterday, and same time today I was 126.6.0 -
i still do not own a scale.0

i am only going to weigh when i go to the Dr. otherwise i get so depressed with little or no progress i just want to give up. I made a big decision today, i set my ticker back to 0, as i have not been doing anything in the way of continuing on this journey i started way back in 2009. I am considering this day 1 of a new journey!!!!0

I HATE my scale! Actually, it's not the scale's fault, but I live in an old house and the floors are uneven. So I can't get an accurate read ANYWHERE!! I try to just weigh myself 1x a week at the gym, but just out of morbid curiosity I step on my scale.
Depending on where I put it - I can weigh 4 - 8lbs more than what I usually do.
My husband just picks a spot and uses it as a gauge, but I NEED a specific correct number lol0 -

i like weighing in at the gym too! getting rid of my at home scale eases so much stress. Although I still stress during the gym's weigh in as well. lol!!! It's a personal struggle that i think alot of us deal with. we've been brainwashed for so long by the fda and other government agencies that try to tell us how to eat and what magic # we should weigh. Yes weight does matter, but lean muscle mass and eating good stuff and not the bad stuff should matter more. Don't mind my babbling these are things I have to tell myself everyday to help me in my journey! LOL!0 -
I love my scale. You have to divorce your emotions from the number. The only power the number has is the power you give it.0

I don't want to waste the 20 bucks... sorry0

I gave my boyfriend my scale to hide until next "weigh day" otherwise I want to check my weight daily and get discouraged. It's so self destructive. I had the hardest time when I was doing the Curves workouts to wait the whole MONTH until the next weigh/measure day, especially when those numbers didn't move as far as I thought they should.0
