For over a year my boyfriend and I lived 600km (roughly 410 miles) apart. We alternated who made the trip about once a month. Thankfully I was able to find a job closer to home (my original home) and now we live together :)

1000 miles? Probably as long as it was for at least a long weekend.
  • Absolutely! whether it works out or not, you will have a great story to tell..:drinker:

Hard to say not knowing the background story, but as a hopeless romantic, I am going to have to go with: Yes :)

My honey drove 700 miles, 12 hours for our first date (Detroit to DC). 8 years later we are still together. So if, in your heart, you feel she might be the one, absolutely its worth the drive. If, however, you are looking to *play*, there are playgrounds a lot closer to home. :flowerforyou:

I notice a lot of boring people here lol. Ok, so if it goes well, awesome, things will be amazing. If it goes wrong, at least you had an adventure, drove around thru places you probably never did before and you got a mini vacation.

Not in a million years would I drive 1,000 miles for sex, whether she's hot or not. The cost of gas + the time in the car + food + other unexpected expenses? No...I can hire a call girl for much less and that's 100% a SURE THING.

Now, I've never hired a pro and never would, but the fact remains that sex is everywhere...you don't need to drive 1,000 miles to get it.

A 1000 mile is a couple hundred dollars worth of gas... for that price you can get someone a whole lot closer for less....

For someone that I hadn't actually met yet (as in face to face met), no way. For my fiance now, assuming that he was 1000 miles away and not laying on the other side of the couch a few feet away from me, absolutely.
  • Fly! If you believe it really is a sure thing.

Don't do it if its just for sex though

There's no sure things in life son....the sooner you learn that the better!!

But yeah, I'd probably drive all the way to Minnesota for an "encounter" with a good friend, maybe even a little further....

    True story

I drove ~3500 miles for a sure thing, and we've been married almost 6 years. LONG story short, we met online (on a forum for a rock group) and were friends for about 2 years before we started talking about stuff like meeting. I mean, we just thought each other were really cool and kept winding up in the same conversations with much the same point of view (but not always). She flew me out to meet her, I flew her out to see me, and we went in on my ticket to see her place one last time -- on her visit, she had decided to move in with me. But on the third visit, I decided to move in with her instead. So I did. Threw everything I owned in an 18-year-old Honda, wrapped things up, and drove from one side of the United States to the other. I was actually able to transfer at my job, so I kept my seniority level and benefits, so that was cool.

It isn't for everybody so don't take my success story to think that it is. But it can work, and has.

Thats a really sweet story :)

You guys have it all wrong. . I'M the sure thing. . I want her to drive to me!

Still no way. Once you get sick of her she'll be reluctant to leave as it's a 8 hour drive home.

    that's an excellent point. .

Yeah, and that would suck! Make her stay far far away!

Let's just say this sure thing is HOT, funny, and just downright awesome!
No way!! But dending on how good the thing is and how good the destination is, I might use some of my frequent flyer miles and take a flight.

well considering me and my husband lived 2500mile away before we got married, I would drive/fly 1000 miles for a sure thing! We are happy as can be and enjoying our lives together :))
