This group is for those like myself that may have all too many times began this journey only to have had those times interrupted, but now find yourself back again. This time you come with anticipation, determination and the realization that it is the best gift you can give yourself.

Good health. So here we will share what's working for us, what's not and change it up a bit, get healthy and more importantly get happy. Share a joke, a laugh, a recipe, an event that brings joy to your life and above all meet and make lasting friendships from across the miles.

In this group it is your own and all that is ask as you join us is that you commit to get fit, get out and enjoy your life to the fullest and keep in touch each and every day, if only to say HI......

Together we will achieve our personal goals.......again they are personal and respect is encouraged at all times. No limits, guidelines or restrictions and any challenges brought before the group are strictly optional so keep that in mind.

The name of the group is inspired from the blog I have that helps to better explain the title. For us, it is simply a joining of hearts and hands that make a circle of support and encouragement. Welcome All

Lissette, you are already a member just by posting. Welcome, so nice of you to join me and hopefully more will follow.

My diet of choice is weight watchers, its a personal choice and one that has always worked best for me. I am type 2 diabetic and it works with that as well, I have yo yo-ed but am ready to begin again. Forgiveness is key. If you are new here and watching your weight the diary ( a journal of food choices) is a great tool. Their is also tickerfactory where you can create your own signature to fit your life, exercise, weight loss, you'll see your options on the site there. Under settings here you can go to create my signature and cut and paste the ticker tracker you created and its fun and personalizes your posting each time you comment.

So I am from Ohio and a Buckeye all the way! I love to read novels mainly, love life, family, friends and very spiritually minded. I see the best in people and embrace each day I am blessed to share in. I avoid chaos, drama at all cost, drains you and most of the time conflict settles little I have come to the conclusion in my thinking. Most people view me as very optimistic and I would like to think and own that I am that!! I am always looking to the brighter side of things, even in the toughest of times. So I hope I've sold you on the type of friend I will be :)

So what brings you here? In other words, are you new to myfitness pal? Its an awesome site and so glad I found it actually last spring. Was here a while and then life got in the way but I never forgot the friendships and tools to help me live a healthier lifestyle. So here's to life :drinker: , love, laughter and our journey, again, Welcome!

Its nice to meet both of you:flowerforyou:

:drinker:  :drinker:  Hey there everyone, welcome Tanya and Caliecat (marie) good to have you here with us. Congrats to all for a success weight loss. As you know keeping a journal is a big help and watching portions.
Assess and make notes of how you feel as well. In otherwords, cravings, days you are feeling full and totally satisfied. This can be a big help to you. When I have those awesome and satisfying days it really helps. If I am having and we all have them, those days where no matter what we eat, we aren't satisfied and feel we could eat everything in sight. Those days something is out of keelter, so it is good to review and see what we ate on those days we were totally on track and satisfied. Eat more of those choices and see if it doesn't make a different before you totally sabotage your week. Just an FYI.

Anyone wanting to share a tip you use, bring it as we all can learn from one another, its not a group if we don't share. :drinker::heart::drinker:  :drinker:

Well I'll check back later, in the meantime, stay happy and healthy

Cool ... I like the enthusiasm here. I do belong to a couple of groups but if you don't mind, I would like to join you all too. All this accountability is good for me. It works. Thanks for starting this. My story? Well I'm a 48 year old lady, happily married for 28 years (well mostly happily), I have 2 grown daughters who are the pride of my life. I have battled and yo yo'ed with my weight forever. I've tried various diet plans that have worked for about a minute. Then I found MFP and changed my lifestyle. People are starting now to notice a weight loss and when they ask "How on earth did you do it?" I always respond with "I joined MFP and haven't looked back"

Good evening all ... I just got back from a hike at the Woodend Conservation Area near my house. I did 45 minutes and according to my new HRM I burned off 359 calories. I always thought the hikes burned off more then Turbo Jam Party but apparently not. Things that make you go hmmmmm. Well ... it's almost 9:00 pm here in Niagara, Ontario so I'm going to some dishes for fun, then have a shower, then off to bed. I'm pooped tonight.

Good Evening and welcome maggie. I love your positive attitude and the 'sweet dreams", and thank you for the compliment. I am pretty forthright and try my best to be upbeat so I hope that each day you post you are inspired.

As I began my journal today staying within calorie range was fairly easy, what I need to work on I see is the sodium, but its the choices I made (pre-packaged) meals that did it but I am so glad to have the journal as it is a great way to see where the pitfalls are and what you need to change. We are a work in progress here, so bare with me everyone

Well as you make your discoveries please share, we can all take something from here and make it our own, success in numbers I always say!!!!!

This group is on the grow, stay healthy and see you all tomorrow.

    Good Morning Everyone:flowerforyou:

So yesturday was hard for me. I ended up going to lunch with my co-workers and we went to a chinese/japanese restaurant and I had a Bento Box (Beef Terriyaki) and the portion was so big. I finished about a little over half of it and the rest I packed to go. I felt sooo full I could'nt even eat anymore and I basically ate almost all my allowed calories for lunch and dinner. I only ate Blackberries for dinner, and still went a little over my allowed calories, and that night, I have a such a belly ache. I think it was because I ate so much and my body is used to the smaller potions now:grumble: . I know I am probably rambling and I apoligize for that, but also my first week I lost 4 pounds and this week I am struggling to lose more than a pound:grumble: its aggrivating. Anyways, today is a new day and I will try to think positive:smile:

I made it thru yesterday after a goof up on my med. I had to eat more than I plan to keep my blood sugar from getting too low. It may hinded me in my goal for this week.

Good Morning Tanya, Ocean007, Maggie, Caliecat, and all that follow. Sorry I was MIA yesterday, got totally lost in the day..........friend in need, going to the park with 9 yr. old daughter, running errands, dodging raindrops....ah..................keep in mind that I am writing this to you all and its 4:41 A.M....couldn't sleep.

You see today is an exciting day for me. I am going to my new workplace to complete my NEW HIRE paperwork before starting my training on Monday, August 17th. This is exciting for me for many reasons and to give hope to anyone in need I will share why this is Such a Special Day!!!

For those of you that don't know me, here goes. In 1999 I was hired into a company where I began a new career. I became a collections representative for a major credit card company. Nope, this was nothing I ever thought I would find myself doing, and I've done lots of different jobs in my lifetime. Well my little one was born just a month prior of my starting this job and it was the best pay and work environment I had ever been in. Finally I felt respected and appreciated for my efforts. Life was great.

Well in 2003 out of nowhere I became ill. It started out that I just was having difficulty sleeping, and was always feeling run down. Then I began noticing that I was having trouble concentrating, and some of the simpliest of task became a real challenge. I knew something was wrong but didn't feel I had time in my busy lifestyle to address this, and frankly I thought it was something that with time would pass, like a flu bug. Well as time went on it became apparent to my co-workers and supervisor that I was ill, and not myself and I discovered I was not playing it off well. So I began seeing doctors.

Took awhile for one to take me serious enough to run test, refer me to a specialist and that ended up being a cardiologist and so I underwent all of his testing and he says to me, "Well lucky you, you have a strong and healthy heart dispite how ill you are". He refers me to a neurologist, and when I ask why he says, I believe you have Sleep Apnea. Well I never heard of such a thing, but I begin my homework of finding out all about this an so it began. More testing, and all this time I am getting even more ill, and nearly at death's door. I can't carry on a conversation, I can barely dress myself, I still am not sleeping, and what I thought was just a bug has lasted nearly a yr.

This illness lead me to loss of job, nearly financial ruin, and early retirement as I found myself applying against my own better judgement for disability. So for the last six yrs. I have treated my illness, and finally I am and can say recovered. Now the sleep apnea didn't go away, it still exist, but with the help of a bi-pap machine I am able to sleep, retain my memory, manage my life, and take care of my family. Its been a long road back and boy the lessons I have learnt about life, faith, patience, are endless. Throughout my illness I never lost hope of working again dispite what I was told when I began living a life less than what I longed for. :flowerforyou:

Well I can tell you the work I loved doing I will be doing again, for a different company but what is so unexpected and overwhelming is to learn that many of my former supervisors and co-workers are now at this company as well. Going back to work and beginning this new chapter in my life is well, as my interviewer for the job that recognized and remembered me said, its like a Home Coming!

So I'm glad to share with you that today is a very special day for me and its not the illness that has me up this morning its the excitement and anticipation of beginning something new and seeing old friends I have so missed.

I hope I am not boring you or appear to be bragging is not my intentions here. Ya know life sometimes throws us a curve ball. Its unexpected, seldom do we see it as a blessing, but my illness was. Yes you heard me right. Now I know your wondering how can an illness be a blessing. Let me just say that sometimes illness makes you stop and look at your life, it puts things in perspective, its sort of your Wake Up Call. I never was one to much take life for granted, or so I thought. Now I can say, I really embrace each day, I live it to the fulliest, I strive to form real and lasting relationships and give 100 percent of the best of me in all I do. I really care how I am perceived, I cry less, laugh and love more. Its been a long journey but I am glad for it in so many ways. Key lesson, never lose sight of your dreams, Dream Big!!!!

Thanks for listening, and make it a good day everyone!!! Welcome newbies..........please share whatever is on your mind, perhaps a time when your life came Full Circle, mine certainly has......
    God Bless, Debbie

   Okay my friends, I am big on Quotes as some of you know :)

    Quote of the Day!!!
The best changes often start as a single thought. Think BIG>and discover that ways to make your dreams REAL.

    Don't follow your dreams-Chase Them!

Drink your water, exercise for 30 mins, (I like to break it down into 3 ten minute segments) and journal your food choices today and make them good ones....

Tanya I wanted to not let it go unsaid, you did great yesterday. Setting aside that extra portion is the key to success and that success is learning Self Control. Listen to your body. Eat slowly and enjoy your meal, and when you start to have that feeling of satisfaction and fullness, put your fork down and ask yourself, "am I still hungry?" If the answer is "NO", then enjoy the company around you, drink your water or beverage of choice and remember those extra portions will be there another day :)

I like to eat from a divided plate I have that was actually my daughters when she was little. It has 3 sections, the bigger one I place my veggies, the smaller two my carbs, and protein, then my fruit is on the side in a small serving bowl. The plate is a 10 inch, verses most 12 inch plates and with the dividers, it appears I have a fuller plate, but it keeps me in control of my portions and I'm not at all upset at times when I am satisfied and leave some on my plate. Just a tip that may prove handy to some of you. I do keep my measuring cups and spoons in a handy place so when serving up my dish its within my limits and it takes all the guess work out of it, and saves me calories in the long run!!!

Wow, thats really touching Debbie. You really have come a long way, its great that you never gave up.
I hope you have lots of success in your new job.:flowerforyou:

Well, today for me is officially 2 weeks since I strated my lifestyle change and I am a little disappointed and aggrivated:grumble: I did good the first week. Lost 4 pounds which I am sure was all water weight but this week I lost zero. How is that? I only went over one day this week. My husband thinks I hit a platau and that I should start excersicing but I thin k its kinda too early for me to hit a platau already I mean I just started eating right and watching my portions. I am going to work out but I wanted to start after next week that way by then I will feel comfortable with watching what I eat and how much. So basically I don't know what I did wrong this week and what I should do different so I start losing weight again.

    Beautiful day here in Texas.
I am on a caveman diet. It is the Primal diet. I eat meat, fish ,pork , the lighter veggies [ no starctes ones] Good oil, ,butter and heavy cream. fruits [ mostly berries] It is a low carb diet. And loving it. It is good for my disbetic. I made chili last night, tonight it will be chicken pizza. This week I am drinking protein shakes for breakfast and lunch. and a good meal at night. Haven't plan yet what I will be doing next week. It will be simple tho.

Hey there Maggie, Tanya, Calie and all that follow. Tanya, do you use the food journal, in doing so you may better be able to pin-point where something worked and didn't and it is a easy fix sometimes then. Forgiveness is key though none of us can do it perfectly all the time, life happens, so today is a new day. I have to agree though, a plateau I wouldn't think just yet. Could be a little resistance, time of the month, high sodium food you had, also bare in mind if you eat beef it will make you weigh heavy if eaten 2-3 days before you weigh yourself. REason being that it takes longer to digest, (learnt this rule a long time ago on Weight Watchers).

Calie, protein drinks...........ummmmm...do they keep you satisfied? I'm not a shake person but just wondering, sometimes we do need to change it up a bit and that could be a great alternative. I know many people are into fruit smoothies and I have thought of throwing some strawberries, bananas, in a blender with some milk or yogurt and would be one way also to get your fruit in, (if that is difficult for anyone). I also like to make jello with pineapple or cabbage shredded and carrot shredded in it), orange jello and those items are great, and you can get a little veggie or fruit in that way and its not so boring :) Just some suggestions.

So gonna get my shower and get ready for a fun and exciting afternoon!!! Thanks Tanya for the new job wishes, your sweet!!!!

    Skinny Vibes to All,

Yes Debbie it keeps me satisfied. I buy the Jay Robb's protein on line and it is good. It is sweeted with Stevia . Here is my recipes \
    1 scoop of protein powder
    1 c. frozen berries
    1/4 c. whipping cream
1/2 c water Put ii all in the blender till good and thick. Yum

I don't used any sweeten besides stevia So that cut out a loft of stuff.

I looked forward to my shakes.

Good Morning ... IT'S FRIDAY!!!!! So as you know I was planning a killer hike to the beat of some groovy new tunes on my iPod on Wednesday night but then my DH said as I was about to leave ... "If you wait 'til I'm done eating I can walk with you". Well who am I to discourage him from getting some exercise right? It's so interesting walking with him ... it's like being with a child with ADD. We've lived in the Niagara Region for all of my life (and he's been here for a good 40 years) and when I walk with him it's like he's never seen it before. I love it ...he's always "Hey, look at this, isn't that nice?" or "How cool is that?". Needless to say, the hike that usually takes me about 40 minutes took almost an hour and a half. But you know what? According to my new fangled HRM I burned the same amount of calories anyway ... it was the same distance but it took longer to get it done ... so I now know that I can leisurely lose some calories once in a while so I can stop and smell the roses. Last night I finally got out and hoofed it to the iPod ... very high energy and so much fun. Well, I best get back to my job before they fire my tookus ... have an awesome day all.

Good Friday Morning; Love your minnie mouse Maggie have fun on your hike. Cindy your job sounds like loads of fun, I know why the owners chose you, you are a people person!!!!
Cindy on a personal note, I heard from Hazel, she is recovering from unbilical hernia operation and planning wedding for DD, sends her love your way!

Well everyone I went and did my new hire paperwork. For those wondering what this mystery job is, well I am a collections associate. I will be calling on delinquent retail credit card accounts and establishing pmt. arrangements. With today's economy it will be a bit more of a challenge, but its a great company and I'm so elated they chose me. Sorry if I have my head in the clouds a bit.

Quote of the Day: "There is more hunger for love and appreciation in this world than their is for bread", by Mother Teresa

So group lets spread a little love, give an extra hug, and appreciate or take time to look someone in the eye and thank them for the gift of their friendship.......you'll feel full, more satisfied than one can imagine and you'll make someone SMILE..........

    have a great TGIF,
    Debbie

    Hey Everyone,

Its is soo hot today and it should be like this the whole weekend so tomorrow I am planning to take my daughter Jenna to my aunt's pool and then on sunday I have a baptism to go to which I don't have an outfit for yet, so at some point tomorrow I have to go shopping and I am going to do some light cleaning tomorrow since my house is fairly clean right now.

Well, since I started this journey I am noticing that I am becoming full a lot quicker and the portions are a lot smaller, so thats good. I am realizing a lot of things that I did'nt pay attention to, like for instance, I used to love going to IHOP and the breakfast sampler that I would get most of the time is over 1200 calories I recently found out, thats my breakfast, lunch and dinner combined. Real eye opener.

Well, thats basically it for now. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend:flowerforyou:
