a glass of chocolate milk is a good recovery as well if you don't have protein powder, depends if you are lifting heavy or just doing some cardio too.... ??

The anabolic window is a joke.
Don't feel like you have to down a shake or eat the second you leave the gym.

That being said. I'm normally worn out and hungry after a good workout, so I prefer to get something in my body as soon as possible.

I agree with ^^^ about the chocolate milk. Nestle quick has a FF or Low fat 100 cal bottles of choco milk. having one of those afterwards should suffice until bed time. Even something like a serving of fruit or yogurt/cheese stick can help.

I've been buying most of my stuff from http://www.dolphinfitness.co.uk/

Seem to be the most reasonably priced (they also price match) and the delivery speeds are excellent.

I eat dinner around 5:30 - 6 on Mon/Wednes nights and then go to Zumba at the gym at 7. By the time I get home, I'm always hungry and have to eat a snack, or I won't go to sleep!

There are tons of around 200 calorie protein bars if you can't or don't want to do the shakes, I can't do dairy and all the tasty protein shake powders are based on whey. Read the labels on the bars and find one that has some protein, not too many carbs and not more than 200 calories, then just build that into you workout days. Gives your brain the idea you are having a late dessert, lol.

I always pack an apple in my gym bag to eat on the way home. Chocolate milk is a great alternative to protein shakes too- the right balance of carbs and protein.

well everyone is going on about protein shakes and that after gym to help muscles.. you said that they replace meals.. soo for protein why not have a couple of eggs and make scrammbled eggs? just with a drop of milk though, no cheese or nothing or else calories will be sky high! you could try it for a little while and see how you get on..
  • I leave the gym long before and now using sida cordifolia fat burners and will give rush of energy, also suppress appetite without feeling too jittery. I got the product at http://www.ukhealthproducts.co.uk/other-fat-burners/sida-cordifolia-100-tablets
