Well...of course there are the usual fast food items:
It wasn't rare for me to down a Whopper with cheese, large order of fries, and a large chocolate shake from Burger King in less than 20 minutes. I've logged that meal on here before just to see. Let's just say that large shake had 900 calories all on it's own. :noway:

Another fast food thing I ate often was Subway. Italian BMT on wheat with some veggies and extra mayo and ranch. I used to think that was my "healthy" dinner...once I logged that, it was 1200 calories...and I would occasionally grab 3 cookies also. Not healthy at all. That place is like a trap. You THINK it's good for you, but some of the stuff there is worse than a BigMac.

Also, Chinese buffet...probably my greatest weakness.

Something I made at home a lot that I found out was horrible (okay,I secretly always knew...there are 2 one pound bags of cheese involved) is chicken enchiladas. I make them authentic style the way my great-grandmother made them....but more cheese. 2lbs of dark meat chicken simmered up, corn tortillas (fried up in hot oil of course!), cheese inside, a bag of cheese outside and a green enchilada sauce. I used to eat 6 at a time....logged that one time....1700+ calories...and I used to eat them for lunch AND dinner in the same day.

I don't think I miss any of that stuff though. I remember bad nights with stomach pains from the grease overload. I'm much more content with a good sized salad and some fruit...or some of those things (like Chinese) in very small portions.

Back in college I used to mix ranch, melted cheese and bacon bits in a bowl and dip french fries into it - like almost every day!
  • McDonald's Chicken Club sandwich and fries......it must have been my entire calorie count for the day and was not my only meal. I stay far away from fast food now! So many calories!

Snackwell cookies, Lean Cuisine meals, fat free cheese, fat free salad dressing - basically any processed 'diet food'. I don't eat anything like that anymore.
  • just eating less of but the demons are French Fries , Choc. and of course BBQ in my world

I used to eat a huge bag of chips, any chips you could think of, in one sitting no problem! Nowadays if I get a craving for chips i will set aside one serving of reduced fat Wheat Thins. They are tastier and less addictive, so I can stop myself from eating too many without a problem, and they satisfy my need for a salty crunch. Multigrain Goldfish crackers also do the trick. I am at the point where I have no interest or craving for chips at all anymore!

Okay this thread is just another cruel reminder of how bad I was. hahaha

I used to eat fast food everyday for lunch and at least 3 times in the evenings and/or on weekends. I'm talking Mickey D's, Burger King, Taco Bell, Arby's, pizza, wings, and Chinese. I still have Chinese or pizza once a week but I limit how much of it I eat.

I've have never watched calories before and when I first started on MFP I was amazed at what I used to put in my mouth. I still don't have my lifestyle under control completely but I avoid fast food like the plague. If I want a hamburger I make turkey burgers at home. Just the thought of all that grease makes me sick. I feel like I've over ate when I eat 1800 calories a day but when I was eating McDonald's I bet I was pushing over 3,000 calories a day and not even realizing it.

I stopped eating a majority of processed foods
And when eating out I'll pick healthier options like falafel and hummus.
I am now attempting to stop eating weekly saturday night meal of pizza (which isn't that calorific but I need to keep making cut backs)
I'd eat foods I wouldn't particularly like just for convience such as pot noodles and highly processed foods.
I've always liked eating healthy though, and I feel a lot better now that I am.

I try to still eat a lot of what I like, but in moderation. I almost NEVER eat fast food anymore or out at chain restaurants. Those things are like special "treats" to me and if I do eat at those places I look up the calories before hand and do my best to fit it into my calories for the day. Also as far as fast food goes I no longer eat at any of the burger chains either I only eat taco bell and subway. I have also cut way back on sweets because I could eat tons of cookies, cupcakes, cakes, ice cream and not even care. I try very hard not to deprive myself because then that's when binge eating comes into play and that's never a good thing for me.
  • I used to have crisp butties, 2 slices of white bread, slathered with butter and a whole packet of walkers cheese and onion.Occaisonaly Id put mayo on too.
Or chips with melted cheese and mayo!

    This was a frequent lunch:
Dairy Queen Double cheeseburger with mayo - sometimes 2!
    Large fries or onion rings
    Large Reese's or M&M's Blizzard

And that would be after eating 2 Hardee's steak biscuits for breakfast.

And then a drive home 'snack' of some fast food (maybe another large Blizzard, maybe McDonald's nuggets (20))

And then dinner would be more fast food...probably KFC 3pc Original Meal with mashed potatoes and mac & cheese.

Wow...I can't believe I used to eat this much in one day.

    Big Macs!
    Poutine!
    Hot Dogs!
    Coke!
  • Cookies/Biscuits - I could easily work my way through an entire pack of Oreos
Crisps - could finish an entire tube of Pringles easily
Chips/Fries - MY UTTER WEAKNESS, I love them crispy on the outside but soft on the inside, dipped in ketchup
Bread - my other weakness, in the form of sandwiches, toast, more sandwiches, more toast...
    Huge stacks of pancakes/French toast
Rice and pasta - not entirely unhealthy, but I would have mega-sized portions

There's lots more but I can't seem to think of them...

Well I do remember sitting and eating like 4 oz of cheese at once instead of 1 oz so that was a big problem of mine. or 3 cups of icecream instead of .5 to 1 cup
  • I used to LOVE Andy Capp's Hot Fries.
They were so tasty and GREASY.

I used to make big plates of no yolks egg noodles, and dollop margarine on them, then sprinkle with parmesan cheese and salt. It was so freaking good when I wanted nothing else. I also have to avoid dipping ridgies chips in chocolate ice cream. One taste and I can't stop. I still sometimes have those noodles, just not near as much. I'm a picky eater and still trying to learn how to eat right. Everything else I can control myself on, and if I get out of hand with it, I restrict it from my diet for a long time. Then I'm ok again.

I haven't cut out any of the foods I like. I still eat what I want, just much much less of it.

Proportions used to be crazy high and not really realizing it. Like two oreos is a serving size. I could easily eat 10 of those with milk. When you look at the serving size of foods you realize why and how those calories can add up really fast despite "not eating much"/

This. I still eat the foods I like but instead of wolfing down almost a quarter of say, a key lime pie or chocolate truffle cake and washing it down with milk, I slowly enjoy a small slice. Still gotta have the milk though...

Old Chicago's Meat Me Large Deep Dish Pizza.

    l.jpg

    I'd down about 3 slices: 3,215 calories.

And that was after the mozzerella sticks and caprese salad.

    That looks so nice

    OH YES THAT LOOKS LUSH!

    This is just cruel.

Oh goodness...when I sit and think about it, its a wonder why I'm not 300+ pounds to begin with! I have a better metabolism than I thought! ;) Let's see....there are these scotcharoos (600cals) at Casey's General Store that are to die for. I could easily eat one with my 2 donuts(250 cals each) from there for breakfast! Not to mention the candy...the m&m's 'shareable' package that I'd share maybe 3-5 with my 2 kids? The list goes on and on!

I used to order the big mouth bites, and an order of skillet queso and chips from Chili's for lunch once a week.

2120 calories for the big mouth bites, 1710 for the skillet queso, and that was just lunch!!!!!

No wonder I was huge! Even now with working out 10+ hours a week I don't eat that many calories in a whole day!
