LADIES! Has your TOM went haywire since losing weight????
Mine has!
Basically as soon as I began to lose weight mid January I have been getting my TOM every two weeks. I have went to see the doctor about it and I just need to book myself in for an internal now to see if they can find a cause for it.
Has this happened to anyone else?

I'd be interested to see other peoples replies to this. Mine has gone the other way but I'm assuming its down to other factors as my weight loss has been slow and sensible. I'd hate to think that doing it the healthy way has scared away my normal bodily functions!0

For me that has drastically slowed down my weight loss. In 3 months I've lost 16lbs, it is EXTREMELY frustrating but there's not a whole lot I can do. My doctor has said that if no cause is found with the internal then my only choice is to go back on the pill which I really don't want too.
Also since it is so regular this means I am not ovulating as well.0 -

I was going to say significantly lowering your fat intake could mess with your hormones, but judging from your diary you look fine by that measure.
Now if I could only get my TOM under control =P0 -
Unless you have drastically reduced your calories and/or dropped weight very quickly, I personally think your problem is due to something other than weight loss, especially if an OCP is involved.
While I was never obese, I went from overweight to being slim with a decently low BF%, and my TOM went from being exactly like clockwork every 27 days to being more easily shifted due to stress or syncing. I have never missed one, but it has come 4 days early and up to a week late depending on if I've had a rough week or spending a lot of time with another girl, especially if she is on an OCP (meaning I'm more likely to sync to her).
ETA: Is your "extra" TOM as heavy as the regular one? Have you also considered the possibility that you are spotting due to ovulation? Some people have spotting, cramps, etc. during this time too.0 -

my extra TOM is actually usually longer and a bit heavier than my normal one. I don't use any OCPs and well I started out as severely obese...0 -

Even with birth control, I've not had a period since October when I began this journey. I've heard its not unusual, but I'm headed to my gyno in May.0

Ok, I just wanted to let you know, going back on the pill is NOT your only option. I was getting my period every three weeks, had horrible pms, weight gain, trouble losing weight, adult acne, was tired all the time, etc etc.
My MD wanted to put me on the pill becuae she said I had a hormonal imbalance. I asked if there was anything else, she told me the there was a bio identical hormone cream I could use that after time would fix the problem, but because its not prescription, it takes longer than if you were prescribed hormones (the pill). The lady MD that came up with the formula and sells it is a bit on the.....Christian side, but I don't mind that so much. Cause in three months my period is back to normal, I have more energy, the acne is all gone save one blemish or so a month during TOM. I probably could have fixed it in one month with BC. But BC does horrible things to me, including vomiting and headaches, etc.0 -

I wouldn't be too worried. Significant changes in weight loss or activity could effect this. Lot's of women athletes stop getting their TOM (Time of Month), due to intense exercise. I've lost so much weight and do a ton of cardio...haven't had my TOM since May 2010! I've been checked by my GP and OBGYN, tests run, etc. Nothing's happened. Can't say I've missed it! LOL0 -

I went from having no periods thanks to my PCOS to it being a constant now. Between the metforim and my dropping weight I think it is just adjusting to the changes. I am seeing my doctor every 3 months so I will talk to her at the next appointment. This has happened before.0

My period has been sporadic and irregular ever since I got it at age 12. I have PCOS and after losing a lot of weight, eating healthy and exercising, it is the most regular ever! I get it around the same time every month and I'm not on the pill anymore. I also don't have cramps *knocks on wood*, but my PMS is out of control. I guess that's the price I pay for no cramps.
I hope yours comes soon. I eat a lot of fat, around 70-90g (healthy fats, olive oils and nuts).0 -
Mine has changed too. I never use to spot before a period and for the past 5 months or so I have been. I have not had more then 1 a month but it has come a week early from time to time or a few days late.0

YES! I have tracked my cycles since I got married 6 years ago, & they have always been very regular, 27-28 days. 3 cycles ago, I was 2 weeks late. The next cycle, I started a week early. This cycle, I am 2 weeks late & counting! I exercise a lot & am training for a half marathon, & did the triple crown of racing last month. I wonder if that could by why???0

My TOM has been like clockwork since dropping this weight. I still have about 40 or so lbs to go but dropping 30 has made my body snap out of its funk. We even had an unplanned pregnancy in February that took one "oops" when our son took 7 months to be conceived (when I was 190). Sadly that pregnancy in February ended quickly... but it gives me hope that with this weight loss when we choose to have another, it might not take very long because of my healthier body.0

I initially lost weight too fast and in a not-completely healthy manner (under 600 calories a day), and even though I never reached an underweight BMI, I skipped two periods. I think your body may need an adjustment period, regardless as to how you're losing weight. Your body takes time to adapt to change. Of course, other things can be at play too, not just weightloss. With me it took a return to a higher intake and some weight gain for my periods to come back (straight back into their regular routine, too).
Currently not the case though because I got implanon inserted three months ago, and its hellish.0 -
When I started I was having 1200 calories a day and not I'm about 1500-1600 although I usually go over with exercise cals0
