Thanks, I will be joining you all over there shortly!!!
Wow, what an intriguing mix of thoughts and ideas.. Thanks everyone for sharing.

Of course, I just have to put in my two sense worth as someone who has done the cleanse at least 3 times, my longest being 12 days. I have also supported others in doing the cleanse.

First of all, it is not intended as a weight loss program, although people I know usually drop on average 3/4 - 1 pound per day while on the cleanse. It may come back on or stay off depending on what you do after the cleanse.

Secondly, does it cure cancer? Fact: Cancer has a difficult time surviving in an alkaline environment - most MDs even if not holistically oriented will agree with this. Due to the Standard American Diet, our bodies tend to be over-acidic, not alkaline. Fact: the Master Cleanse drink helps the body create an alkaline environment. Hhhmmmm.

Third, most people will feel yukky the first couple days on the cleanse, as your body spills toxins out of the cells and into the bloodstream to be transported out of the body - drink a little extra water and take it easy. Plan the first couple days so you don't have a lot of commitments or work to do. Not surprising that someone felt lighted or nauseous. I have done the cleanse a number of times and the first couple days are headachy and such. After about the third day, I have always felt great. Others I know who have done the cleanse report the same results.

Fourth, with all due respect to the medical viewpoint, most nutritionists and dieticians have no issue with suggesting diet drinks for people who would like to lose weight. Aspartame, the main ingredient in most diet drinks is a neurotoxin - poisonous to your brain - and can be used as an ant killer. (see www.natural-cure-alternatives.com/aspartame.html). Why would the master cleanse be so awful?

Anyone who has done the master cleanse or has tried to do the master cleanse, I welcome you to share your comments at www.natural-cure-alternatives.com/master-cleanse-forum.html. Good or bad experience.

    Thanks.

    TD!

 I have done the Master Cleanse on four different occaissions. Each time for atleast 18 days and 31 days at the most. It's a great cleanse if you have trouble with your digestive system. Watch out for the salt flush, it's brutal!

Last year I used to salt to help clear the way after nothing worked. I mistakenly measured tablespoon instead of teaspoon and boy was I sore.

While I do believe in fasting for spiritual purposes I don't think it's a good idea for weight loss. I think the problem is that people started using it as a diet when it wasn't meant to be such. It was a meant as a gateway to clean eating as Lioness mentioned. I am aquainted with a biofeedback specialist (actually have some of the equipment used even though I only used it once) she was able to correct her autoimmune problems (lupus) through clean diet and homeopathic medicine.

As far as fasting. I started fasting from sunday 12 am to sunday 2pm (close of worship) and all I seemed to think about was where were we gonna eat after church. So I figured it wasn't doing my spirit any good.

************ Holistic is the way I live my life. I respect anyone who went to school and learned all that they have learned. Good for them. People who study alternative methods are just as respectable, they study just as hard and live what they preach. I agree with Lioness here, as this is a part of my Spiritual Practice. My body is my temple. That is my opinion. bigsmile ***********

I worked at a Naturopathic college, & believe me, their program of study is as rigorous as any MD's. Maybe even more so because nutrition and other areas are included.

Thanks for all this peeps! :flowerforyou:  :flowerforyou:
Will join you on the next thread...............:drinker:

Wow, that took me quite awhile to read everything, and I skimmed over a bit, so if I misunderstood anyone, I apologize now.

Personal experience : I attempted the Master Cleanse once. By the third day I couldn't hold the lemonade down, and heaved for about an hour after doing the salt water flush. I have actually had acid reflux ever since, even after resuming a normal diet, which was never a problem before. I didn't finish, I went off on day 3, but I was dizzy the whole time, my head throbbed, and I almost passed out a few times.

I felt like crap, and I'd never do it again. I used to agree with this kind of thinking, before I tried it.

I don't really want to get into this argument, so much, but I would like to point something out about the alkaline balance. It is true that cancer prefers an acidic environment. At least as far as I've read. however, if your body is not naturally alkaline, you only have your diet to blame. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables with naturally provide an alkaline balance, as well as lots of roughage to help " clean" out the colon, all the vitamins and minerals your liver needs to function properly, and kick into overdrive if need be, all of which can be flushed out by drinking lots of pure natural water. All of this while still eating, healthily, of course.

In all fairness, lemons are the most alkaline producing food you can eat, thus why the master cleanse has such a drastic effect on the pH. However, you'd get the same effect from squeezing some fresh lemon in your ice water, which happens to be quite refreshing.

    Just saying..
