I remember having to do some stupid government standardized testing in high school, and we would be in there for hours at a time. I really had to go one day during one of them. REALLY had to go. So I told a teacher and they said "No you have to wait, you might cheat if you leave" (???). I said fine just take my damn test right now then, I'M GOING. They ended up just sending another teacher with me to the bathroom (who told me she thought it was stupid and ridiculous that they wouldn't let me go alone) to make sure that I wasn't passing notes or something in the bathroom about a test that meant nothing to me specifically (no grades, no scores to me, etc). Schools take standardized testing way too seriously... I have NEVER been in a situation in the real world where I was prevented from using the bathroom like that. I really hate how so many of mandatory things in school are just so useless once you're done.
I agree with you one the testing; however, this class wasn't even taking the standardized test. Those tests don't start until 3rd grade. They were "preparing" 6 year olds for a test that won't happen for another three years.

I guess I'm spoiled. The elementary my daughter goes to has classroom bathrooms in all K and 1st grade rooms. They also have a large stash of extra clothes in all sizes so that kids can clean up and change if they have an accident while they wait for their parents. This goes far beyond a child having an accident. Just terrible~

My daughter's school has a bathroom in the kindergarten classrooms. They ended up needing a 3rd kindergarten class this year and needed special permission to have it in a classroom that did not have a bathroom. We are asked to always keep a full change of clothes in her backpack.

Poor girl :( I know what that feels like. My wife makes me sit in my own ALL the time before changing me. She always says something that I'm 31 years old and should make it to the potty by now. I'd be furious if this happened to my kids. That teacher would be receiving a face-to-face confrontation with SofaKingRad.

That's absolutely disgusting. I don't care what anyone says, that teacher should be fired. How would she like to be in the little girls position? Shame on our so-called educators!

I can sympathize, sweetheart. My personal attendant sometimes runs late and I end up lying in my own product for more than an hour. I suspect that she is going to the track to bet on horse races.

The important thing is that you don't play in it while you wait.

Its considered child abuse. When I called social services on a day care my son attended one of the listed concerns was in using humiliation or punishment with the bathroom most likely that teacher will hopefully lose her license. She should of sent the child to the nurses for a change. Accidents happen I know my 7 year old had an accident at school and he went to the nurse and she gave him a change of clothes. He was embarrassed enough that his zipper got stuck I would have been extremely upset if he had to sit in his urine all day let alone poop.

I have a friend who told me about how, when he was in kindergarten, the teacher refused to let him go to the restroom. In protest, and in need of a good release, he stood up on his group table, shouted "Doo Doo!", and crapped in his pants publicly.

We love him! one of the coolest surfer dudes I know today. True story.

That just made me sick. I also think that people today are too lawsuit happy, but this incident would have me lawyered up and suing! I can't imagine a teacher doing that, and the though of something like that happening to one of my kids makes my physically sick to my stomach. That teacher should be charged with neglect and never step foot in a classroom again.

Our Elementary school has a bathroom in the K classrooms but not the 1st grade, but our nurse has a cloths closet for any and all accidents that a child can at least clean up and be comfortable until a parent can come and get them. How humiliating for that child. I can not even say what I would do to that teacher.....I am spoiled also, my children attend the best (as far as I am concerned) elementary school in our area. Great caring teachers in every grade!
Prayers for this little girl and her family to get through this horrible situation.

Ok seriously, the teacher should at least be put on admin. leave. I am a teacher in Missouri and our state test does not say you cannot go to the bathroom. There are rules you have to follow - the student has to raise their hand, ask to go, then close their book and put down their writing utensil, then the teacher has to find a hall monitor to escort the student to the restroom. I saw a lot of grammatical and spelling errors in the reporting though; are you sure this is a real website and real story? Just asking.

True story: this happened to me, i was being punished and told to stand in the corner, i was behind a Bulletin type board where you could see my legs but not upper body. So i had to "go" raised my hand, she told me to put my hand down, did it again, same thing. So i went. I finally was able to join the class, of course a smell was in the room, we had to do some seat work, then go up to the teacher so she could check it, and she looked and me and said, is that you? I said no, cause i was embarrassed. End of day my grandfather picks me up, and of course knows right away. No one told on the teacher or got upset, it's just what happened, now granted i am older and things are way different now.

I hope this story does hurt my rating, when i play "Rate the person above you game" :)

I can't believe i just told that story to a bunch of strangers. I can't believe i am going to hit POST... here I go...

This is really sad and everything but I would rather not have to look at the title every time I go to "Chit-chat, fun and games".

Ok I found the story again on a fox news site, so it is real. I still stick to my previous post about what should be done and what the rules are for our state standardized tests.

Oh that poor little girl. That breaks my heart, and if she was my daughter...just let me get my hands on that teacher. That's simply inhumane, and she should definitely be punished. Losing her job AND her chances of ever teaching again would be a mild punishment, in my opinion.

She must not have children of her own. If she did, she might be a little more sympathetic. Then again, if she does have children, I feel badly for them.

And not only that, a child who has diarrhea can't hold it anyway, and that's beyond a health hazard.
