Doesn't bother me. Sometimes you can't read everything, but you would like to later, so bump is the solution!

Surely there are bigger things to worry about. Just saying:flowerforyou:

    Hmph.

Back when I started messing around on the internet, oh about a million years ago (really only 13 yrs ago), BUMP was how we used to move a thread back to the top of the list of threads. Forums show the most recent activity at the top, so putting a BUMP on it will bring to 1st place. We had all sorts of cute and dumb and rude ways to "bump" up our desired thread.

We call bumping up a very old thread, a "necro bump".

Ban the users instead of make the software better.... hmm I like this! Totally going to try this at my job next week

    /software engineer
//dang users always causing me problems

Was thinking the same thing! I am a business analyst, wouldn't a developer love to see that requirement in my next BRD!

The people who actually respond and then type "bump" at the end of their reply make me laugh.

I'm banning you for trying to ban the bumpers. LOL

A subscribe function with options for notifications when new posts are made would get rid of bump posts. Till then, people, including me, will bump.

    Bump.

Can we ban people who are annoyed by silly things?

Hilarious ... honestly though, if I want to "bump" a thread back to the top I tend to write a new response post to do it, rather than typing "bump." It just seems more inventive to me. Even if it's just to say, "any others with responses to this out there?"

Until I came here, I thought bump was a way to raise your thread back to the top.

on other forums I frequent, people "subscribe" or "sub" to a thread instead of "bump" to find it.

Would a different word be better? Like if people started typing "subscribing" instead of bump? Or how about "bow chicka wow wow" each time they want to come back to a thread?

I only use it to bring topics to the top of the list. I didn't even realize until this post that it then would list in on your profile page! Lol

Can we ban people who post threads about banning a whole group of people?

    Seriously.. It's getting really old.

I like to use "bump" for recipes. Sometimes I dont have time to get a recipe down and I bump it for later when I can add it to my recipe counter.

Ban users because they are interested in a thread??

Ban users because they care enough to read threads??

    Ban users????

    REALLY????

    Found this in another thread:

    ... EVERYBODY?

Seriously, think about it. If there was no one on MFP, then no one would ever be offended by any content here ever again. Problem solved, amirite?

So I think that we should ban fat people, skinny people, and everyone in between, as well as people who "bump" and people who never post, people with no profile pictures and people with four hundred and thirty-seven photos on their account, people who eat too much and people who eat too little, people who lift weights and people who do cardio. Oh, and let's not forget to exclude people who pair stripes with plaid, people who don't like soft-boiled eggs, people who pronounce "caught" and "cot" the same way, and most importantly, people who don't perpetually agree with everything I have to say.

I say, let's ban ALL the members and make MFP a better place. Who's with me?
