    Another Lonely Day- Ben Harper

    This.

    And "Walk Away" by him.

The Ballad of Love and Hate (not really sad) - Avett Brothers ; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S08RS2xMhgU

This guy isn't famous (outside of my local music scene), but pretty much all his stuff is heart wrenchingly sad....

Alan Cormier - his one of his tunes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILryuh75m6A

He passed away a couple of years ago in a house fire....the band he was in is still performing and is getting ready to finish their next album (Folk Soul Revival). He is truly missed!

for me there are very few songs that make me want to actually cry:

Cats in the Cradle by Cat Stevens - reminds me of me and my fathers relationship

Sullivan by Caroline's Spine - personal reasons

Hurt - Johnny Cash's version - His wife show's up in the video, she came down the stair's by accident during the shoot and wasn't suppose to be in it.

Really? "So Much" is my favorite song from them.. Nice and sad. http://youtu.be/HRke0V8rQEg

But I've got some good ones..

One of my TOP favorites: I LOVE The Transister's "Flow" http://youtu.be/N4oqNNGn5sk
Perfect when played loudly on a lonely drive home at night..

The Early November's "Ever So Sweet" http://youtu.be/23mX891OvDA

The Dreaming's "Fly Away" -- Singer from Stabbing Westward. Love this. http://youtu.be/Sr8KHMPpbAo

There are many that I know but here are a few.

    Alice In Chains - Nutshell

    Faktion - Distance

    Cold - Wasted Years

    Cold - Bleed

And even though it is not designed to be a "sad song" it is beautiful beyond words > City And Colour - Day Old Hate

The first sad song that comes to my mind is an old song by Joan Osbourne, called Crazy Baby. I used to love that song and it could make me cry. I have not heard it in many years. Going to youtube it now though!

    "Black"--Pearl Jam

Never would've thought of that one but that is a good sad song.

    Last Kiss by Pearl Jam
The Lighthouse's Tale by Nickel Creek (gets me every time)
Practically anything by Radiohead puts me in a subdued/melancholy/down mood.. but its soo good

    "Memory" from the musical CATS
"In the Wee Small Hours Of The Morning" Frank Sinatra
"Let Me Fall" I believe this is by Josh Groban but I found it on a Cirque du Soleil soundtrack
"Thank God I'm Pretty" Emilie Autumn. Not really a sad song, more ironic, but the message of 'women are valued by their looks and often hurt because of it' is sad.
    "Asleep" The Smiths
"No One Knows Who I Am" Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical
"The End Of Heartache" Killswitch Engage
"Empty Chairs At Empty Tables" and "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Miserables
"I Didn't Know I'd Love You So Much" Repo! The Genetic Opera
"Who Will Love Me As I Am?" Side Show: The Musical
    "Show Me The Way" Styx

I Won't by Keri Noble, lyrics are too personal
    Lots of Eva Cassidy songs.
    Maybe by Kelly Clarkson
You Don't Know Me by lots of artists

Baby Mine from Dumbo makes my hubby cry buckets

Someone Like You by Adele makes both myself and hubby now laugh because I told him that song makes every one cry. We've been together since high school so we can't truly get it.

Yeah, i was just thinking about La Montagne's songs. Some of them are real heartbreakers. I have got to see the man in concert.
