Here's another tip you might not have heard about before. If you can get Gold Rush apples at a farm stand or something, try those. They can be hard to find (you won't see them in stores), but they blow all other apples out of the water. I get them from a nearby orchard, and they'll keep all winter long in a plastic bag in the garage. Super crisp, juicy, sweet, and really intense flavor. I love the other varieties people have named too, but Gold Rush is tough to beat.0

I was a Granny Smith or Golden Delicious fan, but I recently discovered Opal apples. Wow are they good. They're this odd yellow color, and they're a mix of the Topaz and Golden Delicious. Similar to Golden Delicious in terms of crispy, but much more flavor.0

Honeycrisp. End of story!0

GALA...only them! We've tried other apples, some are too tart and some are just mushy! I like a crisp apple that's juicy! So the Gala apple wins in my opinion0

I thought no one would mention them! I can only find them in the fall because they rot quickly. I'm low carb but I ALWAYS make room for Machintoshes when they are in season. I love, love, LOVE them!0 -
