  • I would actually have gone, having had someone ask me or notice I wasn't going, being thin and fabulous and, while I'm daydreaming, completely different looking with a nicer character ;)
(I'm in the UK so I'm talking about my leavers ball but same diff. I also didn't go to muck up day/any parties.)

I would change my date. He was a POS who slapped me across the face for no reason. Great times, great times.

I hope you kicked him in the naughty place!!!

No, I didn't I was in total shock. Went to the wash room to check it out and I had a perfect hand print on my face. Let me just say, this was a 6'2" man hand so it covered practically the whole side of my face. My guy friends were pissed when I finally told them a few days later at our prom cottage.

I would actually go. The 'rents wouldn't let me go to junior prom which was the awesomest prom ever so out of protest I skipped the senior prom. Looking back though, I wish I had gone.

I didn't go, so maybe if I did it different I would still not go but do something different than I did that night.

My dress and my hair were both gianormous. Maybe the dress could have been smaller, because it took me and two friends helping me to go pee. I'd probably spring for the limo, too. It was hard to get that dress in an 87 Ford Escort.

I would go this time :) I was a bit of a geek and stayed home... a lot has changed.

This. Plus I think I was working my first job that day and didn't want to ruin anything. ;P

My Senior prom was in a funeral home because a tornado damaged the places surrounding the ballroom we had booked and they decided it wouldn't be safe and there was no time to find another place. LOL Wouldn't mind a redo on that one.

I'd be way skinnier (I was 5lbs smaller than my heaviest at my prom) and I would go alone rather than with a date, my *kitten* of an ex is in half the pictures so I never use them :( Oh and I'd probably drink beforehand hahaha.

What a giant monkey asshat!! Did that actually happen at prom? That just makes me want to find him and punch him in his giblets!!

I would've been nicer to the guy I went with Junior year, instead of being hung up on some other guy. And Senior year, I for sure would've gone with someone different. Going with "just a friend" doesn't entitle you to getting a blow job behind the cabin at the after party. Slimeball. Ugh, and he was short. Actually... EFF all of that... I wouldn't go back to HS days for anything less than a quarter of a billion dollars.

    prom was awesome.

i actually threw a "prom" party for my friends a few years back. I rented out city hall, got a liquor license, dj, photographer, everything. i think i spent aounr $2k to throw a party, but holy crap, it was a good party.

and what did i do differently than what i did from my first prom? i wore panties this time.

Wow! You are like a super awesome friend!!

I didn't go because I broke up with my boyfriend and my best guy friend would not take me because he didn't want to go. I refused to go without a date. I very much regret this as I did get asked by one kid, but he never talked to anyone and was extremely awkward. I should have given him a chance.

I would go and this time... even though I had no idea way back then that he was cheating on me.... I would have kissed him and ultimately changed his mind. I'd be married to him today if I had been more confident and not let him walk all over me and see me as a weak lady.

You know, prom really sucked, but even so - it created memories that we still look back on and laugh about today! I went with my best male friend, and we're still in touch. When I met his wife-to-be, that was one of the first stories we had to tell her about - prom night! When they got married, there were young kids at our table who were fascinated by the fact that we'd been friends for 30 years at that time, and as kids do, they wanted to hear stories about what we were like as kids - so the first story to tell them? Prom night!

Long story short (oh, who am I kidding?), spring of 1981, my best friend Bobby asked me to go to the prom. He was head over heels in love with a girl named Dawn who he just didn't have the nerve to ask. I was head over heels in love with a guy named Fred who didn't even know I existed. One week before prom, he says, "Okay, this is ridiculous - I'm too scared to ask Dawn, and Fred isn't going to ask you, so let's just go together!" Okay - plan settled.

My sister got married the year before, so I still had my maid of honor gown, with dyed to match shoes, in the closet - perfect, instant prom outfit! Bobby's dad happened to own his own tux, and they were the same size, so that took care of that.

Since we got our tickets with one week left to spare, we couldn't pick what table we were at - this will be very important later!

So as bad luck would have it, the night before prom, we had to have our beloved cat Hobo put to sleep. I was sobbing, totally beside myself. So the next night at the prom, I was so depressed over Hobo, I didn't even want to dance! We danced to ONE song (still remember it too - "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" by Michael Jackson). Bobby still laughs about it to this day when we get to that part of the story - "The cat HAD to die the night before prom! He couldn't have held out another couple of days, nooo!"

So our table - since we had no choice of where to sit, we were placed at a table with two seats left, FILLED with popular kids who couldn't stand us! Bobby and I? Drama club geeks!

Now all you ladies know how it's a huge no-no to show up in the same dress as another girl? Yup! My leftover MOH gown from the year before was the EXACT same gown as one of the popular girls AT OUR TABLE!!! Truly, it was one of the moments of the night where I did laugh - she wanted to murder me!

Plus, we nearly got into BIG trouble coming in - one of the chaperones was this teacher we couldn't stand, who we had a very mean imitation of. Bobby did the imitation under his breath just as we entered prom, and she overheard us!!! :noway: Luckily, she let it slide.

So all things considered - no, it was far from a perfect night, but the fact that we still get mileage out of this story 32 years later is great!

If he treated you that badly, why would you want to be married to him today? Honestly, it wouldn't have mattered what you did, he would have still treated you like crap anyway. Not because of you but because he was dumba$$ jerk!

I have no desire to return to that stage of my life. If I HAD to, I'd go to prom with my boyfriend instead of my ex-boyfriend!
  • Junior year -- would have argued with my date less & enjoyed it more, but over all wouldn't change anything.
Seniro year -- different dress. Mine was awful! And, of course, would have been skinnier.

I would have gone with the guy who is now in med school, not the one who is a failed musician.

If I was going to change anything about that night it would be that we didnt have to take a coach bus. The kids that gradded the year before us got caught drinking with a limo driver on the way to prom so we had to go coach. Maybe i'd have my ex bf be less like a lost puppy who followed me everywhere. But at least he was a great dancer. Other than that it was a great time.

I'm telling you. If that had happened to me, it would have been the prom to remember! I definitely would have hit him back or told my friends or broke some stuff. But I'm just reactionary and impulsive like that. Not that you did anything wrong at all. But... ooh wee, if it had been me, it would have been ON!!

I wouldn't change anything to the three I went too. They were all fun for me and my date(s).
