I'm at the point where I fully believe she just has multi-personalities, because the Inner Goddess is just too much. It's beyond conflicting emotions.

So, so poorly written. I wouldn't even finish if I could just watch porn at work without risking my job - my bosses are guys and have no idea what it is.
Oh yeah, especially when her 'subconscious" starts fighting the inner goddess (or hiding behind a couch or something....?)...ugh!

I just had a hard time focusing on the story instead of being annoyed about the bad writing....

Yup. It's making me think that no matter how much I want to know the end of the story(ies) I may not buy the second two and just switch to one of the suggested authors instead. Hit up the library at best.

I read spoliers in the other two book reviews on Amazon, so I basically know how the next two go without having to suffer through the gasps, murmurs and eyes widening over and over...LOL.

I also plan to check out the suggested authors, so thanks to those who made the recommendations!

There is no way anyone can deny it, it is poorly written. There
are multiple mistakes and repetitions. I don't know why they weren't fixed.
However, I still liked it. It was an underdog, and Americans love the underdog.
I feel that this is the ultimate feminist book. To be a submissive,
the individual has to see themselves as equals in ability to give permission
to be dominated. If the individual is not capable of giving permission, the relationship is no
longer dominant/submissive and becomes simple abuse. To give
am example, the most patriotic act of freedom is to join
the military where you voluntarily give up your freedom and
    possibly your life.

i read it when it was free. the writing is horrible and i just couldn't get passed it.

i must admit that it bothers me that it is getting so much publicity, even a movie deal, when really GOOD erotica authors have been around for ages. good writing, good sex scenes, good characters, did i mention good writing? cheyenne mccray, kate douglas, sylvia day, paige tyler, maya banks, etc.

for those that like it, please buy some books by the above authors to compare!

Ooh Thanks!! Did you read the Beauty Series by Anne Rice, still my favorite by far!

I read some of it online, but it isn't in bookstores or libraries here yet and I can't find a place to download it for free... Anyone happen to know of a free download place? I'd normally buy it with my mom's credit card, but I kind of don't want to admit to her that I'm reading that, haha.

I finished it on Sunday (the first book). I almost went through and just struck out every part that took away from the story before I lent it to a friend. Why so much murmuring?! Can't they speak clearly. I get it when you're in a sweet quiet intimate moment, but just when talking to your parents or something.

So much fisting of the hair. We get it.. pretty hair. Enough. By the end I felt relieved, like *I* had just got out of a bad relationship.

I understand some of your frustration - the whole way his pants hang off his hips - why repeat is 300 times? We got it after the first 2 or 3. But I still like the book - Im addicted!

i have gotten more action out of my fiance since shes been reading these books than i have in the entire 7 years weve been together!

at the time they were printed, there was nothing else similar - that alone makes them a must read. i loved them, but not enough to keep them or reread them.

some other 'more mature' authors i've enjoyed are jaid black, beth kery, bronwyn green, nathalie gray, shayla black, sasha white, lauren dane, joey hill. if i think of any others, i will post them as well.

No, I would be a rubbish sub ^^ but the books are good, in a fanc fiction kinda way, still can;t believe they developed out of Twillight fanfiction though.
I've read all three books during the last week... made quite a good read and I enjoyed it :)
I'd love a Mr Grey in my life, but heck boy, I'd teach you one or two tricks lol - anyway, after book two, one gets a audi for not signing a contract... I am so in it :P
