I'd like to join too please!

    # Name - Christina
    # Start Weight - 158.6 (yes every decimal counts for me  )
    # Goal Weight - 149
    # Hobbies - don't really have any! want to start playing the guitar though
    # Interesting Fact About Yourself-I moved to London for 8 months in 2005 with no job, no living accommodations, no clue what I was doing...and I survived! Back in Canada now...

My motivation is that I'm going down South (hopefully Cuba?) for New Years and I want to be able to walk on the beach with confidence.

My plan so far is to eat as clean as possible while doing the 30 day shred dvd and jogging.

Hope it's not too late to join, I llike the goal of a slimmer, happier me come January 1. (I just joined the site yesterday)

    # Name - Karen
    # Start Weight - 313
    # Goal Weight - 150
    # Hobbies - my husband is my happiest hobby, I am a newlywed again (almost a year in October). I love to read, quilt, play music, sing, write, TV ... haven't grown out of All My Children. I love to swim, aqua jog and do water aerobics
    # Interesting Fact About Yourself - I was born at 11:11am. Am told that means something but don't know what. I survived being hit by an SUV as a pedestrian and have lived to tell the story. I met my husband on a cruise ... it was truly the Love Boat.

Other fact, writing my weight down for others to see was very hard to do, I haven't ever told my husband my weight (but he must have some idea, you can't hide 300 pounds).

I think I'm retaining water because I just started paying attention to my sodium and my sodium intake is higher than I'm supposed to have, even though I'm within all of my other limits. So I need to find a way to lower my sodium even though I don't cook (I suck at it!!). So this will be a challenge...

well done to everyone who has lost this week! :drinker:

celebrate by continuing doing the great things you have done this week and dont do what i do when i lose a pound or two, celebrate with food! i really have to stop doing that!

i need a little help with the motivating of this group, i have just started my first year in college after a long absence from studying and its taking up way more time than i thought, so i was wondering if someone wants to help me by logging into the group as much as they can, cheering everyone on, and looking up good motivational articles? any takers?

i lost 1 pound this week, really want to lose 2 next week, better get my *kitten* in gear!

Mushrooms, peppers and leeks in yellow bean sauce

    POINTS® value | 1
    Servings | 2
    Preparation Time | 15 min
    Cooking Time | 5 min
    Level of Difficulty | Moderate

Yellow bean sauce is made from soya beans. It comes in jars and is available from supermarkets and specialist ethnic shops. Use it like a relish to liven up a dish and add a Chinese flavour

    Ingredients
1 medium red, green or yellow pepper, de-seeded and sliced thinly
    1 leek, sliced thinly
    75 g mushrooms, sliced
    2 teaspoon sunflower oil
    1 teaspoon garlic, puree
    30g Sharwoods Yellow Bean Sauce
    1 pinch salt, (sea salt)
    Freshly ground black pepper

    Instructions
    1. Put the pepper slices, leek, mushrooms, oil and garlic purée into a food bag and shake well to mix.
    2. Heat a non-stick wok and then toss in the vegetable mix, stirring for about 3 minutes until wilted and softened.
    3. Add the yellow bean sauce and 3 tablespoons of water. Bring to the boil and then cook for another 2 minutes or so. Season and serve.

Cool! Now is certainly the time for 5K's. My roomie and I have 3 we're about to do...Sept. 20th, Oct. 3, and Oct. 17. I can already run the whole time but I suppose I should work on decreasing my time. I just run because I like to. I just wish they weren't $15 each! But there's something cool about getting a t-shirt.

Hhmmmm, can I RE-weigh in? This morning after I...well you know...was 131.6! I think I had some sodium and some other stuff in my system. I have no idea how I managed to lose after eating 6 ice cream bars last night (only 100 calories each, and it was my free day anyway! )

Firstly, congrats on the 1 lb! I can never manage to lose an entire pound in a week...:grumble:

Secondly, I wish I could commit to messaging on here all the time but I only sign in at work (lap top at home has been broken for months...saving my pennies so I can buy a new one)....so I am always going to be MIA on weekends. I will try to add some motivation in posts though......

Quote to keep in mind over the weekend:
Julius Erving: If you don't do what's best for your body, you're the one who comes up on the short end.

I wish i ran because i liked it. It is a struggle for me to run, i never enjoyed it even when i played sports in high school and college.

I joined a bowling league as a sub yesterday, so this should be interesting. Not a very active sport but getting oout of the house and off the couch at night will be good.

Looking into places cheap to join to play racquetball, any ideas on chains or other types of palces to look?

That also means that I am 1/4 of the way to my "bigger" goal! I find it hard to believe that I put this off for so long because it would be hard! So far it hasn't been "hard," different and eye opening, but not "hard"!

How was everyone's weekend? I had a really fun one on a social level..not so much on the exercise/dieting side.

Friday I did manage to eat well & do my 30 shred dvd...but then went out to a club and drank way toooooo much wine & vodka/7's

Saturday - I ate ok....went out to a restaurant and ordered salmon and veggies unlike my friend who ordered a side of ribs....
then went to a concert, followed by dancing...that is almost the same as cardio no?

    Sunday - rest...

    How about all of you?
