well I'm pretty much the definition of hourglass, 37", 28", 38". Love my curves (or whatever you want to call them), just working on firming them all up!

Yeah, you're curvy. At 35-27-37 I am actually too straight up and down. I need a inch or two more in my chest and an inch less in my waist. But those are the proportions I'm stuck with.

ok this is just my opinion but it goes something a bit like this :

    FAT

    fat.jpg

    CURVY

    curvy.jpg

    STICK THIN

    stickthin.jpg

    Thin vs curvy vs fat

    thincurvyfat.jpg

    VERY VERY CURVY

and if you think THIN is sexier than VERT VERY CURVY then seek an eye doctor and professional help.

Okay, wait. Are you saying the chick on the right is FAT or Very, VERY curvy? She looks great! Very curvy... I think she looks lovely... and not fat. Fat is the first photo.

EDITED TO ADD: I'm not trying to be mean; my belly looks like photo #1's thighs :S

How about we stop comparing bodies and acting like one body type is better than another. All bodies are good bodies.

I despise the term Curvy. I can't help but see it as just another word for fat. :frown:

Woo - someone that thinks the same as me!! Although - I don't get how larger women can be classed as "curvy" and then you get women like Beyonce who are not at all big, and she's classed as "curvy" as well - I really don't get it!!

I'm fat, I know I am, so I don't need it sugar coating and being called "curvy"!!

    I'm curvy and I think I'm fat

I know curvy doesn't mean fat cause skinny girls can have curves as well.. it's genetics but I still feel fat because of my curves :(

I say im curvy cos i have a 10 inch difference between my waist and hips, curvy means you go in and out and that can be true of smaller girls and bigger girls, a lot of people say curvy when they mean overweight or say that slim girls cant be curvy though and it bugs me.

    I'm fat and proud. <3
And it's important to remember that there's no magical dividing line between "curvy" and "fat".

I'd rather look like a shapless 12 year old than be called "curvy." that's a slap in the face

and when they are fat they think they are curvy! lol not all girls of course :)

LOL was just bout to say that... "when their fat they think their curvy" ... great minds think alike,,, unfortunately I've always been hard on myself... ever since gaining weight after high school & during college I say Im FAT, I weigh 226 but Im one of those chicks that have a lot of muscle mass so even when I weighed 170 I was fit, people said I looked liked I lifted when I didnt and doctors said I was healthy...

I've been trimming down as I'm trying to get in shape for the military and people have said that just by toning up I am curvy... effing Liars LOL :P

I consider myself curvy, (I'm latin, what can I say), it's my body type and I just have to accept it.

Even though sometimes I feel fat, like today... I think my struggle with calorie counting and gym is to do not cross the line between curvy and fat.

Cosmo does a great job of teaching women that they need to buy stuff to make their bodies into something else. If they are "too" curvy, it's weight loss products, if they are "too" skinny, it's clothing and DVDs, and accessories. It's all about the notion of selling a "bad" body image in order to induce the "need" for increased consumerism. Yay capitalism. If you want to see why variation in body type is really what is the "most attractive" check out the immense variation in body types in top female porn actresses. There are curvy stars, skinny stars, etc. That's your best indication of what you should look like-- what you already look like.

    ^^ this!

Good for you! Fat and Proud! I like that! I'm fat and it's slowing me down, therefore, losing weight would help me get moving and keep up with lil'uns. That's when i'll be happy.

Plus having a variety of clothes in the style that i personally prefer to have would be amazing.

To me curvy is someone like Kim Kardashian or JLo. They aren't mad skinny but slim and have booty, boobs etc. Defo something to hold onto. Curvy is more the way you are built, rather than rolls of fat!

I love the term curvy. I am proud to have a curvy shape. So if anyone calls me curvy I take it as a compliment :)

Technically, you can be fat and curvy - or you can be hot and curvy - like JLo for instance

Or you can be fat and hot.

me and my hips are here to stay!! I was looking through photos of me on the beach when i was about 11 or 12 years old and i already had 'curves' (not fat curves mind you).

Im a Pear shape so i carry my weight on my lower half, hips, legs and the notorious bum region! My chest size is a 34B and my chest bones/collar bones just pop out.. i cant help that..

All the same.. Im a curvy girl..

Everyone has their own perception and is entitled to how they feel but I like the adjective "curvy". If a woman loves her body, it doesn't matter which adjectives she uses; just because you see someone a certain way, doesn't mean they view themselves in that same light.

    Good night-

i hate when people class 'curvy as fat' it totally isnt....im curvy but not fat...always have been wont ever change that cause i like it :-))
  • Curvy to me is when some is obviously fit but still has naturally thicker features, like a flat stomach nice sized boobs but wide hips or even a wide waist that is still flatten.. like Kim K, Scarlett Johansson (I love her) , America Ferrara, Beyonce.. and Mariah Carey is a definite many ppl consider her plus size which is crazy but she is very fit and very curvacious even after pushing out twins :-)

In regards to the top FAT pic I think she was brave wearing a bikini and though she is chunky she still has a good shape. Isn't she the wife of the actor that played James Bond - Brosnan or something?

Agreed! I think she looks fabulous in that bikini.
