When I stopped drinking it I had blinding headaches for two weeks straight and now just thinking about drinking it makes me feel ill. I know loads of people though who drink it by the bucket full and never seem to get affected by it. I'm definitely staying away from it from now on!

that was caffeine withdrawl. wasn't really the diet drink. would have happened if you were used to having a lot of coffee or tea, too.

I have done better with out...but if your drinking soda/coffee you need to up your water intake. If you do drink it, make sure you drink equal water. caffine dehydrates.

    myth busting time.

the effect is miniscule. the difference in water retention between caffeinated drinks and straight water sits at about 3 to 4 percent. and for those that are used to drinking caffeine, the effect is even less.

If the people on here who drink diet drinks-eat diet foods can't give up for the health of your bodies, ask yourself : do you enjoy being enslaved to these multi national billion dollar companies who thrive on people like you who defend a product that is overwhelmingly bad for human health? This is not meant to be an attack, so please don't take it that way, just a different respective. And please, for you're own bodies, read up on what aspartame, etc, really does to your body. Also it seems counter pproductive to be trying to get healthy on one hand by losing weight, yet poisoning your body to do it. It is bad bad stuff. Good luck getting off it. And remember, you only get one body, why risk it??

I personally LOVE being enslaved to multi-national companies. It's awesome.

Op I told you that the Diet Coke is evil brigade would come out. They repeat the same old lies but can never produce studies proving what they say.

Also people realize that water is a chemical right? Cause I drink that daily too.

I know its not ideal ... but whats the alternative ... eating constantly!!

Eighty-two coke zero saturated lbs lost.

    I'm still alive.
  • "Epidemiologists from the School of Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio reported data showing that diet soft drink consumption is associated with increased waist circumference in humans, and a second study that found aspartame raised fasting glucose (blood sugar) in diabetes-prone mice."

Absolutely! One of the first lessons in science is the correlation does not necessarily translate into causality. Take a look at the stats on LDL (bad) cholesterol and see what the correlation coefficient is. You'd never spend another $10 for a pill of Lipitor in your life unless you had suffered a heart attack. Beware junk science especially from scientists!

Very bad. It eats up your insides... Have you ever put a steak in a bowl of coke? That coke will tear it up. GROSS.

The acid in your stomach breaks down steak even faster!

I used to drink 12+ cans a day...once I stopped, I lost 10lbs. instantly. I have read that it makes you keep belly fat and that it makes you crave sugar. I went cold turkey and have felt so much better for quitting. I would stop now, if you can!! Good Luck!! ps. not wanting to broadcast my age, but I started with TAB...so I am hardcore!! hahaha!!

I drink diet coke, but only when I feel the need for the caffeine. I usually stick with water just because Diet contains Sodium and I'm trying to limit the Sodium (I've been crazy overboard with the Sodium train) but my mother has drank diet coke for almost her entire life, in mass amounts, and she's been able to lose 80 pounds with it still. That and I've never read about anything being bad about sooooo. Drink up. Cheers! :)

there are about 25 mg of sodium in soda. that's, what, 1 percent of your daily limit? I think you're good on the sodium front if you have a coke.

(that and sodium doesn't really matter for the vast majority of the population when it comes to either health or weight loss.)

Perhaps you should brush up on your research. Even the American Cancer Society has debunked this.

"Aside from the possible effects in people with phenylketonuria, there are no health problems that have been consistently linked to aspartame use." (http://www.cancer.org/Cancer/CancerCauses/OtherCarcinogens/AtHome/aspartame)
