When you prepare a bowl of cereal do you.....

1) pour the cereal into the bowl and then pour the milk over it.

2) pour the milk in first and then pour in the cereal

Out of 5 people in my immediate office, 4 of us (and we're assuming everyone else) pours our cereal into the bowl and then we pour our milk over it. 1 of us pours the milk first and then the ceral and finds it hard to believe that she's out numbered with this method.

Help us settle the dispute.

Cereal in bowl, then milk on top. But if you're going back for seconds, odds are you have leftover milk... then it would be cereal on top.

Just curious, why would you pour the milk first?! That doesn't make sense to me.

From experience (when I have gone back for "seconds" of the cereal when there's still milk left) it doesn't soak up the milk properly - which I suppose is ok if you like it that way, it just seems odd, I've never heard of it done that way before.

Also, apart from people who weigh / measure food such as on here, how would you know how much milk to use? I would just always put the cereal I wanted in, and then pour the milk until it looked just right. I could imagine if it was the other way round, I'd put way too much milk in!

    what's the "dispute?"

the dispute I suppose would be that we're saying a very high % of people pour their cereal first and milk second and she thinks the opposite.

Was that not obvious or were you just looking to ask a silly question?

anyways, what is it dude? Cereal and then milk or milk and then cereal?

    cereal first.

this reminds me of the "wipe while sitting or standing" debate that goes on every once in awhile on reddit. Members of each side are astonished to learn of the other group.

  • In the past i have put my cereal first then my milk and my cereal becomes too soggy. I like cruchy cereal, so thats why i put my milk first. I measure both my cereal and my milk .

Cereal first! It's a lot easier to get milk on all the cereal that way.
  • cereal first - don't want it getting soggy before i can put all the stuff away and sit down to eat it.

What kind of deviant would pour the milk first?

Cereal first is normal. It's the right way. It's the only way.

Cereal, then almond milk, of course. I never would have guessed that there are people out there who do this backwards, but Murphy's Law says that if there is a wrong way to do something, somebody's gonna do it that way!

I used to do it milk first. Pouring the milk over makes cereal lose its crunch quicker. Now, since I have to weigh, it's easier to do it cereal first.

Haha, this made me spit out my water. .

    Now wait.
Srsly though...I'm way more concerned about the PB & J situation.

PB on each slice of bread and then jelly on top, PB on one slice of bread and jelly on the other, PB first, jelly second, jelly first, PB second?!?!

    I must know, people!

I blame the Canadians. They are putting these ideas into people's heads.
