Woman charged after allegedly leaving child in vehicle while shopping.
It happened over the weekend, my town is VERY small, so everyone already had heard about it before it got out to the news. People these days, it's ridiculous, leaving your 2 year old child in the car with the windows up while you shop for 20 minutes, and it was when it was actually sunny and warm up here! :explode:0 -
Sexy Bridget driving force in Halifax bridge safety adsDrivers using the harbour bridges in Halifax have a new sassy, sultry critic named Bridget.
With only two spans connecting Halifax to Dartmouth, the Nova Scotia capital can’t afford to have fender benders slowing traffic to a snail’s pace. That’s where the imaginary guardian of the bridges comes in.
“I like a driver who takes it slow,” says the innuendo-filled message from one of two billboards showing Bridget in her best avatar pose.0 -

Rains pound River Forest subdivision
Residents of River Forest subdivision, located south of Texas FM 359 and a mile east of the Foster High School complex, were keeping a wary eye Monday on continuing deterioration from erosion of a huge Fort Bend County drainage ditch after the dam at the end which controlled water flow into the Brazos River imploded during the weekend thunderstorms.
The erosion threatens a 135-foot steel and concrete bridge that crosses the ditch on Forest View Drive in River Forest. The ditch is part of drainage program that picks up water at Riverside Ranch subdivision on Texas FM 723, which runs north out of Rosenberg and intersects Texas FM 1093 (Westheimer).

SW Ohio roadways may be blocked by oversized trailer loads weighing as much as elephant herd
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — Officials in southwest Ohio are warning drivers that crews hauling several unusually oversized loads will slow traffic to a crawl on some roadways this week.
Four massive metal boxes used to produce industrial gases are being transported from the Ohio River near Cincinnati to a supplier in Middletown, about 30 miles away.
The so-called "cold boxes" measure up to 175 feet long and 19.5 feet high. The smallest weighs 119 tons, roughly the same as a dozen Asian elephants.
The trailer will travel no more than 5 mph and take a roundabout route to avoid highway overpasses and other potential obstacles. It will be accompanied by state troopers and by power company trucks that can raise utility lines to clear the way as needed.
The first two-day shipment starts Wednesday.0 -

Chinese airline to cut services to Manila
State media say a major Chinese airline will suspend some flights to the Philippines to reflect a drop in tourists traveling there amid a standoff between Beijing and Manila over territory in the South China Sea.
The official Xinhua News Agency says China Southern Airlines will cut its normal schedule of two flights daily between Guangzhou city and Manila down to a single flight on certain days, from May 26 to June 30. The report did not give further details.
The two countries have been in a standoff at Scarborough Shoal since April 10 when Philippine authorities accused Chinese boats of illegal fishing. The two countries are among six claimants of the shoal area.
China's National Tourism Administration last week issued a travel safety alert for the Philippines.0 -
