Ok, easy, fast, my specialties. Cut up a fresh orange. Put the sections in a blender. Throw in a bunch of cleaned fresh parsley with the stems taken off. Add a tbs of coconut nectar. Add one ice cube or some crushed ice. Blend. Drink. Enjoy.

I like using only juice and frozen fruit. Sometimes I'll add protein powder, but I don't do yogurt, sorbet, frozen yogurt, etc. I've just started making a new one that's really good:

    1/2c coconut water
    1/2c orange juice
    1 banana
    frozen strawberries
    frozen pineapple
    frozen blueberries

    i always wing it.

    generally

    1 cup berries
    1/2-1 cup other fruit
    1/2 cup milk or juice
    sometimes OIKOS yogurt
    1 tbsp sugar/stevia to taste
1/2 scoop protein powder or to taste

*edit, i use frozen berries, instead of adding ice cubes. the milk/juice helps with the consistency.

throw in whatever you want, its your smoothie! i have seen good healthy cake batter smoothie recipes but i haven't tried them, so no word yet if its good or not.

An 8-9 inch banana only has 120 calories, which is less than a tablespoon of butter.

Tips: you will need some kind of liquid, always. Water is easy/cheap/calorie free. Most fruits go fairly well with each other, so try combinations of your favorites. Frozen fruit is a good option if you are not always home to eat fresh stuff before it spoils.

    Recipes:

1 cup milk of your choice (soy, almond, skim, whatever)
    1/3 cup blackberries
    1/3 cup blueberries
    1 kiwi

    1 cup milk of choice
    1/3 cup strawberries
    1/3 cup blueberries
    1 mango

    1 cup water
    1/2 cup greek yogurt
    1/2 cup peaches
    1/3 cup raspberries

I like this...but I would add protein to them...Like Crystal Farms liquid egg whites or Protein mix....... and/or cottage chese and/or greek yogurt...

Smoothie base, doesn't need anything added:
    1 cup each:
    liquid
    frozen fruit
    plain yogurt

Then add any or all of these if you want to get crazy
    1 scoop protein powder
1-2 T wheat germ / oat bran / psyllium husk / other hippie *kitten*
    handful of spinach
    1 t cinnamon
    banana
    1 T coconut oil
    canned pineapple
honey / maple syrup / stevia

I buy bananas, let them get squishy, then peel them, halve them, and freeze them so I can use them regularly, otherwise I'm sure I don't get enough potassium.

I put in 2 cups OJ, 1 cup frozen strawberries, 1/2-1 c frozen mixed berries, and a banana. Blend well and add a few ice cubes if needed for consistency before blending again. You can even add 1/2 c plain yogurt for a bit of protein & calcium. Mmmmmmm. (Oh, this makes about 3-4 cups, enough for at least 3 people, usually)

some sort of liquid, (water or milk is what I go with--but juice works too) 4-8oz
frozen berries or fruit 1-2 cups
    protein powder 1-2 scoops
    ice, yogurt or sherbert

    My favorite

1 scoop chocolate whey protein powder
    6oz water
1 cup Safeway/Dominick's unsweetened Dark Cherries
    (yogurt optional)

    Tastes like Cherries Garcia. MmmmMMM

When you buy your fresh fruit, if you don't use it all, freeze it in baggies and use the frozen fruit as your "ice".... and I love greek yogurt in mine :)
