Going to Vegas

The major hotels will often give free admission for women to their in-house nightclubs. Just look out for the men and women in suits holding wristbands. I know the last time I went on a girl's night the MGM was offering free drinks until a certain time along with free admission at both clubs with those wristbands - if you are early enough you can drink for free for quite a few hours!
I personally like the cover band at Harrah's Carnival Court though the DJ is hit or miss. Plus the bartenders do free shots every so often (gotta tip though) and they will pour the alcohol straight into your mouth. It's fun and an excellent place for people watching.
If you're going for shows or food, hit up the 1/2 Price Ticket booths as early as you can for your pick. There are quite a few restaurants giving 1/2 off a main entree though there is usually a special menu for the deal.
The best (and most expensive) drink I've had in Vegas was at Treasure Island. There is a bar there that does these amazing HUGE drinks that have like 8 shots in them plus mixers and dry ice so they smoke. SO cool and delicious - totally worth the $40 each price tag. Most of the drink bars that have the slushy things in the walls will let you taste them sans alcohol to tell if you like them.
If you're going to be gambling get a rewards card for whereever you are. We usually stay at Harrah's so we have the card there and we put all our gambling on it plus certain restaurants - this gets you comps once you rack up enough points. If you won't be returning to Vegas for at least a year don't worry about it though.
Paris' buffet is my favorite place for breakfast.
Fremont Street is... an experience. It is quieter than the strip but there are much more interesting people there. Oh, and that is where the Heart Attack Grill and a cool looking drag bar are. Maybe next time we have a girl's night we'll go hang with them.0 -
Great post! Will be going back in September. Went last year for the first time for a weekend and had a good time. We saw Zumanity and it was really neat. Hoping to go for a little longer this year. My hubby gets to go every year with his job, so I plan to fly out after all his meetings are done, so we can have a little vacation together.0

This post just gets me more excited for my trip to Vegas in August!! We try to make it there every year or so - 4 glorious days with my hubby away from our kids! We always stay down on Fremont Street as it's more our style - you get more for your money. Plus, our favorite casino, Mermaids, is downtown. We are staying at the Golden Nugget and I'm looking forward to renting a cabana and sitting by the pool. Sunning, drinking, gambling - yay! Now I just need to make my weight loss goal so I can feel amazing in a bikini!0

Funny, being in Vegas is what kickstarted my weight loss, and using MFP. I went for my 40th birthday in February, and wanted to go the Zip Line on Fremont St. at night. I arrived to find out they have a scale and a max weight of 250 lbs. I was over the weight limit, and wasn't able to do it. I am looking forward to going back and trying it on my 41st birthday. You can always try it and let me know how fun it is, lol.
I am going back to Vegas in August to get married and this is on my list of things to do (terrified, but looks like so much fun!)0 -
