agree that it's great post-workout...I used to drink it after long runs (8-10 miles) - it does a better job than gatorade as a recovery drink!
I would have it as an occasional treat other than that, though - like eating a half a candy bar (treat) with a glass of milk (healthy!)
It can be beneficial for endurance training -->http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=chocolate milk and exercise recovery

There are plenty of websites that applaud the benefits of chocolate milk as a recovery drink. Most say "it has double the carbohydrate and protein content, perfect for replenishing tired muscles. Its high water content replaces fluids lost as sweat, preventing dehydration. Plus it packs a nutritional bonus of calcium, and includes just a little sodium and sugar -- additives that help recovering athletes retain water and regain energy."

I love Carnation Breakfast Essentials - no sugar added chocolate milk powder. They make it in ready to drink cans and tubs of the powder, but I just buy the individual packets. One of those packets is 60 calories, 60mg sodium, 300mg potassium, 12g carbs, 4g fiber, 7g sugar, 5g protein, and 140% Vitamin C (plus about 25% of everything else). Add that to 1 cup (it still tastes good up to 16oz, though, and I usually do 1 1/2 cup) skim milk and you've got an "anytime" snack for 150 calories and a lot healthier than most chocolate milk.

There is probably something healthier out there, but that's what works for me (without tasting gross or not being chocolate-y enough).

Sometimes when Im at the drugstore, getting what ever we need, TP, coffee cream (for my bf), etc, I will start thinking. "Oh hey, lots of cheap pops/juices here, i should get one!" Then I think chocolate milk! Milks good for you right? Am I doing myself any favors, or just kidding myself?!
Chocolate milk is good I drink it everyday.....it has calcium and protien. Very good choice!
