I don't do it, but I don't care what others do. Minding my own business is kind of a hobby of mine.

I want to look good scantily clad or naked...but not here. That will be in private. When I reach my goal and post my pictures, they'll be clothed in an entire wardrobe that I designed and created myself, while I was working on getting small enough to wear them! LOL I am much more interested in how I and everyone else looks in clothes.

But, I totally understand wanting to show off a success. I might have a swimsuit in my pictures. But it will be a tasteful photo.

Edit to add: I do not mind looking at everyone else in less clothing. I am a little shy. I'll also admit that I wasn't nearly as shy before I gained the weight. So, I don't know exactly how I'll feel when it comes off. I may get a bit braver! lol

... With all this being said, I don't see why people are so afraid of our anatomy. Nudity has been looked at as "degrading" and "undignified", but we were all born naked, so why feel ashamed about it?

Some really good points were made on this post, and I'm glad no one took this to the extreme. I do understand where you are coming from. I have seen some women on here whose main picture is a close up of their cleavage. It's kind of annoying, but I don't think I would ever really say anything about it. Some women are insecure, but common, we're on a site for people trying to lose weight. I would say at one point or another all of us have had insecurities about ourselves. So for the arugment that someone mentioned about people needing the attention, yeah. It probably is nice for someone to comment on how you look (and be positive about it). I have posted pictures in my bikini and pictures in a tank and underwear, however the underwear cover everything and are probably less revealing than the bikini. I'm not ashamed, and I'm not even ashamed of my fat pics! For me, I like posting my progress because sometimes I don't notice things. For instance, when I first posted bikini pictures someone mentioned that the back of my legs looked much smoother. I hadn't realized until someone said something. It's reassurance, not approval. Many people said, don't click on it. With that being said, a lot of people post on the forum, but if you're that afraid of seeing something, then don't go on the forum, or do it in the privacy of your own home. Some people take it too far, and I do agree with you on that. But maybe in the future (or maybe there already is) MFP will let you block certain people so when you are looking through the forums, their posts don't show up. Just because you and others don't feel comfortable showing off in a bikini, does not mean it's wrong for others to. Just as someone mentioned that they didn't like seeing all the tattoos, then don't look. Having tattoos, and a lot of them, when people tell me they don't like one, I say "Good thing it's not on your body then huh?".
Exactly what I was going to say, except you said it so much better.

Check out my progress in this pic. I think it shows my progress without being too revealing.

F*** me, that is FUNNY!!!!! I am of the opinion that if you want to show it, show it. Be proud. It's just a body. If you clicked on it and then don't want to see it, click your back arrow and move on.

It takes a lot of courage to expose yourself even a little bit. I saw a lot of skin the the picture you talked about but it was just someone very proud of what they have accomplished. If i ever get to my goal weight and body with a Man V... ill be half naked on here too :)

People are proud of their accomplishments. If they have that much confidence, KUDOS to them...show it off!

There is a fine line between showing off success and Porn.

I think this site is about motivation and not judgement. I appreciate the people who have the confidence to show their progress, it's inspiring, good for them!

I'm all about success stories and sharing progress pictures....but dang! Some of you post some realllyy revealing pictures! I almost feel embarrassed to look at them!

For example, I just clicked on one...guy was completely naked and had cut the picture off right before...well...you know what. And I mean RIGHT BEFORE....all I'm asking for is just a little more clothing!

I agree completely. Bikinis or swim trunks are one thing, but people never know when to stop & cover it up. Thank God I'm not dating anymore. lol

I have never seen any pictures on here that offended me or grossed me out. No matter how much flesh is on show all I see are fellow human beings sharing their success stories, being proud of how far they have come and are brave enough to show others what they have achieved and it is because of these pictures I am still here and still working to reach my goal.

I would like to thank all the posters who have been brave enough to post before and after pics and risk being reported, or called gross. You are my inspiration and I salute all of you. :drinker:

The lesson here -- have confidence in yourself, and a healthy self-image... just keep it to yourself because we should be ashamed of the human body. :noway:

And for the do-do that make the remark about "porn". Get over yourself. Nothing is posted here that wouldn't be seen at a beach, public pool, or in a Sears catalog. I've certainly never seen any pics that could be construed as porn... and trust me, I'm always looking for them.

If looking at the human body in underwear or a bikini makes you nervous... that problem rest with YOU, and not anyone else; welcome to the internet.

And if you are afraid of what someone in the cubicle next to you may see... then get your *kitten* back work. You can log calories without cruising through the forums.

    Geesh!

Virtuosity is a thing of the past just like black and white TV and record albums. With technology being what it is, it just fosters more narcissism. People who are insecure when they don't feel good about their bodies will find ways to cover up but when they shed the weight they sometimes do a complete turnabout in their behavior. It's a form of pathos, really. I'm all for having a healthy self-esteem but a lot of the posts you speak of are from people who are searching for compliments. It's very sad and superficial. If they had true self-esteem then how they felt about their bodies wouldn't matter whether they were overweight or not. The photograph is merely a way of proving they are part of the "cool kids" clique.

    Yep... you are right.

Having struggled with self esteem issues since I was twelve, I totally agree with you. For someone who has picked at flaws in herself for so long, there's nothing that feels better than having someone say "wow you look fantastic"... It is much better than being called fat, ugly, stupid, and my personal fav "sasquatch".

As for the cool kids clique... I'll never be a "cool kid" and am not trying to be... that's not why I put up my bikini pic. I do it because I worked hard, and am proud and want it to be noticed.

and... if I am honest... I'd love for one of those kids who called me fat and ugly to eat their words. :)

Thank you (sincerely) though for the sobering words... sometimes I need those too. :drinker:

I liked your comment and think a lot of folks feel this way. BTW, you look great.
