Afternoon, Ladies!
I didn't like my weigh in this morning for my other thread so I 'm gonna weigh in tomorrow and hope for better results. Yesterday the scale said 176.6 today it said 179.6 and I know I didn't gain 3 lbs over night even though I went over my calories by almost 500. So hopefully I'll see better results tomorrow.0 -
Good afternoon!
Silver - You're right about not actually gaining that much overnight. A 3 lb weight gain overnight is probably just water weight. Drink lots of water today and I'm sure you'll see better results on the scale tomorrow. :flowerforyou:
Billie - I love the poem. Thank you! :flowerforyou: I understand not wanting to drink water while having a cold. I'm just getting over one. I still had my appetite, but all I wanted to drink was sodas. At least they were diet, so no cals. But they do have sodium. :grumble:
Nicole - We all feel cranky now and then. You're right about exercising helping! Also, venting here can help too. That's part of what we're here for. I hope you're feeling better! :flowerforyou:0 -
Than twine a chain of diamonds about my foolish head
idk, billie--diamonds around my head or neck vs kids....
nicolee, some days are like that--even in Australia--as we say around here. (our take on Judith Viorst's hilarious classic of Alexander and the Horrible, Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Day).
i can relate, tho. HUGS
in fact, i brought the 3 of them to dh's office/warehouse/workshop today so they could bang hammers on scrap wood and use the screwdrivers--and otherwise leave me alone for a bit while they played in the mess that is his workplace.
we are home now, i have eaten, the girls are playing school, the boy is napping, and i am here with all of you.
so life is good for now...:flowerforyou:0 -
Thanks for listening everyone! I am not seeing the scale go down and I can't join a gym at the present moment so i have just started doing things like dips and wall sits and pushups to hopefully help. I lookedat my profile and realized I took measurements on oct. f1st, so I figured, why not? Why not check it out? YEAH!!!! It may not seem like much because it is a small number, but....I lost 2 inches!!!! not everywhere but in my problem areas....hips, thighs and waist! Yay for me!  That almost makes up for not losing any weight! I hope you have a wonderful evening ladies!0
-
rock on nicolee!! that is such a big deal! :drinker:
as for not having access to a gym--go to self.com for lots of exer stuff that you can do at home. also, many people have talked about videos on youtube and sparkpeople. i haven't looked at those, but may be worth checking into. and dvd's from the library are a great way to try new things and not have to commit. that's how i got into leslie sansone walk at home. (and while walk at home sounds lame, it's actually become addicting for me--it's easy low impact moves that truly gets your heart rate up and changes your shape.
soooo congrats on what you have accomplished and hope these suggestions help you get to the next level! :flowerforyou:0 -
Hey everyone----sorry been MIA. Jackson is still very sick- coughing and a fever. It seems that some of the schools here are seeing an absentee rate as high as 23%, which is very, very high! We actually did an interview with the local DC news about Jackson being home sick....was kind of cool. The reporter found us via Twitter ( I had tweeted about having a sick kid at home) but I really wish he was better. It appears that he won't make it to school at all this week. So far, no one else in the house has shown any symptoms and I hope it stays that way.
Hubby has worked from home since Tuesday to help out some so I was able to get in a couple of 2 mile runs. Good thing, I needed the stress relief. At least the weather improved and has been beautiful in the 70's during the day. I like running and seeing all the pretty Fall leaves.
Hope everyone is doing well! Keep up the good work!0 -
Oh my lettuce I'm so sorry he's still sick. That sickness is going around I know alot of people that have been struck with it. I hope he gets better. I hate it when kids are sick. They are just so miserable and there's hardly anything you can do to fix it. Terrible feeling
Anywho I'm having one of those frumpy days where I just want to crawl back into bed and never get up. But I found a quote and thought ya'll might like it. Its really good on your not so pretty days
People often say that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder,' and I say that the most liberating thing about beauty is realizing that you are the beholder. This empowers us to find beauty in places where others have not dared to look, including inside ourselves.
- Salma Hayek
There now I feel like a million bucks. lol I love scriptures, quotes, and poems so whenever I come across one that gets me thinking a little deeper I will most definately share. Its good for the soul
Have a great day everyone. Remember drink up!!---sorry that was a pep talk for myself0 -
Bilimina, I do believe "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" I don't actually have a problem with how I look. But I do want to see less in the mirror when I look into it. I actually don't "feel" fat, I just thought it would be nice to lose some weight and get into a healthier lifestyle.0
-
Bilimina--Thanks for sharing. I like reading quotes and inspirational messages. Makes me feel better
At least my littlest guy (Caden) hasn't gotten sick (yet) am keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way.
Since I can't go to the gym today with Jackson still home, I am going to try and do some lifting here. I have lots of dumbells and a bench....just have to motivate myself:grumble:0 -
billie--i like that one. i also collect quotes. i have a big list and then keep adding more to my journal. so, thanks for sharing. :flowerforyou:0
-
:indifferent: i'm just TIRED. probably b/c i haven't done much but sit...my energy is just slumping. it's beautiful out, i can take the kids to the park and/or a pottery painting place....
my challenge for the day: drink water!!
--finish laundry and do something outdoors with kids is high on the list too!
lettuce--sorry jackson is still under the weather. ~~get well vibes~~
and silver--that's great that you like what you see--just wanna see less of it  that kind of attitude is very healthy--espec when trying to add new habits. thumbs up!0 -
this is my quote list--last updated in 2005... *long*

Thank you, Stacey. I'm not so worried about my weight, not really. I honestly don't care about that. When someone says something about weight I proudly throw out there that I"m well was 185. Now I'm about 177 and I still don't really care about the weight, as long as the inches show some progress. I'm 38 32.5 44. I"d like to get that too 36 28 36. And I'll be happy. But even if I get to 38 28 36 I'll be happy. That's 8 inches off my hips I'll be ecstatic.0

Just wanted to say I did my 30 day shred today and I can SOOO tell I need to get back into it. I've taken a break lately from it and was Seriously suprised today when I did level 3 and felt light headed and out of breath. thinking i'll start back at level 1 and cruise through it a bit faster but ease myself into it again
I can't believe I let myself slack this badly again, let me dust myself off and atleast admit that maybe i'm not as bored with it as I thought I was. I just need to push myself more.0 -
Shera- we all need a change of pace from the regular routine every once in a while. I think it's cool that you are getting back into it! Could you tell me more about the 30 day shred? Does it have strength training in it?0
-
I recently bought Jillian Micheals "no more trouble zones" and I can't do it. I don't have the stamnia. I made it through the warm up and barely started the first work out before I had to stop.0

I like your attitude toward the weight and the scale!!!!  I am trying to turn my focus on the inches too, since I am not losing weight.0 -

It does have strength in it. There are 3 levels so when you feel up to it you move up, I did each level almost 2 weeks to give my body time to adjust and it got easier.
She does 2 minutes of cardio, 2 minutes of strength, 1 minute abs.. then repeats. Each time you repeat it will be different exercises. The video says a 20 minute workout and it averages about 25 minutes w/ warm up and cool down.
Hope that helps. I found my video on amazon for $10. Not a bad deal and it really gets to burning some calories. I know everyone is different because of weight and what not I usually burn about 250 calories when i'm done.0 -
silver, that's how i am with the p90x stuff. i could hardly do any of it. but i just did what i could and each time i was able to do a little more. the ab ripper, for ex, kicked my butt to the moon and back. i could hardly do any of each of the 11 diff moves. but after 3 wks of doing it 2x/wk, i could do almost all the reps. amazing how much our bodies can accomplish! and i could see some definition.
so, with your focus on inches--keep doing the cardio--what you can, when you can. and when you're ready, throw in a few basic strength moves to tone what's underneath.
in the time you've been posting up here, i can hear a big change in your "voice." how are you doing?? is group helping?
just want you to know we care. :flowerforyou:0 -

good for you for pushing play and just doing it! (sorry you felt light headed tho). did you drink extra water or have some juice to "recalibrate" yourself?
i'm going to try cardiox and abripperx this am. just need to digest bf a little longer. hope you all have a great day!!0 -
Hey Ladies! Good job everyone on all the working out! I am always so impressed with the motivation and support here.
Jackson seems to be on the mend now, just lots of coughing but no fever. Found out that there were 23 2nd graders out of school yesterday! There are 5 classes or roughly 20/class. That is a lot of sick kids.
I have been pretty good with my food this week and the scale said I was down another lb. I need to update my ticker At least I haven't stress eaten this week and I will take all the little accomplishments I can.
It is supposed to rain here most of the weekend again but still hoping to get out for a run this evening or tomorrow.0 -
lettuce, glad jackson is improved.
and congrats on the pound!! AND not stress eating. that is huge!
i did my cardiox just now. abripperx later...NO EXCUSES
must shower and off to gymboree. whoopee.0 -
Lettuce, glad Jackson is doing better.
I'm doing pretty good, myself. I'm on some new meds, I think they are helping. And that is good.0 -
I hope everyone had a great day today! Thanks Shera for the info about 30 day shred. I am definitely going to look into it!
As for me....I went over my calories today!!!!! big-time for me ! 400 cals.. I think it was the 2 beers and the extra helping of chicken.....ugh:grumble: :grumble: :grumble: Oh well....tomorrow is a new day right? Have a wonderful evening.:drinker:0 -
Nicolee, I hear ya! I went drinking last night. I had no intention of it when I went over to my neighbors but they kind of pushed me into. I got so drunk! I only gained 2 lbs over night...probably water retention...0

oh yeah, definately sounds like water retention. I had margaritas a few months back and the next morning I had gained 5lbs! I felt like a failure but I didn't know at the time it was just water and in a few days it disapeared and then some. Just drink extra water today and you should be good to go :flowerforyou:0 -
Thanks silver and Shera! I hope your saturday is going great.0
-
i have so not done myself proud. :frown: eating tons of cookies (homemade) and just too much food altogether. i've said this all before....
this am is my new start. i wrote out yesterday my exercise plan for the next 13 weeks. it uses p90x and my leslie sansone walk dvd's.
and it's back to logging my water and food.
i still want to reach my goal wt by dec 31. so enuf goofin off and justifying my bad moves.
thanks for being there over and over for me to post the same ol' garbage to. and thanks for being there for me to have accountability and motivation. you girls are GREAT!0 -
I'm doing pretty good, myself. I'm on some new meds, I think they are helping. And that is good.
good to hear--give yourself time....0
