Here is the stats for this week, we are doing great! Congratulations tttthumper on having the greatest loss this week:drinker: :drinker: Everyone did great--I gained but I deserve it. I need to throw out the ice cream :grumble: it sure was yummy though. :noway:
So what is our challenge this week. I did a ton of arm work this morning and am sore to prove it. Should we continue pushups or do abs or any ideas??

Great job everyone!! I'm up for whatever challenge wise! I do love the pushups though! They make me feel so strong!! :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:0

Push-ups work for me...we could also add a few sit-ups as an added challenge. :flowerforyou:0
-
Alright, Sandy said it, and I was thinking about it.
If I get to have any say,I say let's continue the pushup challenge this week.
I will copy and edit my prev post about pushups if you like.
I'd like everyone to aim for 20 pushups per every other day.:drinker: :drinker:
How about 60 or 80 for the week.(3-4 times a week.)
I think there's no excuse. We can all do this, even at a different level.
If you can't do pushups on toes, then go to knees
If you can't do 20 on knees, then do them against an arm or back of a couch.
If you can't do them that way, then up against a wall.
Shutterbugs idea is good, if your chest/arms are sore from pushups, the next day do some ab crunches.0 -
Hey all. I have been running the open house we had here at wotk and I have not sat down since 8am (my feet and legs are killing me  ) I probably will not get a workout tonight because I am already so sore from running up and down the stairs going in and out of the building.
I will probably fall asleep as soon as I get home tonight
I am good with the push up challange and maybe alternate push ups one day abs the next0 -
Good job this week everyone.........minus myself :explode:
I like the pushup challenge. I say let's do it. And I want to thank all of you for your encouragement and your stories. Sometimes, I just want to give up.......sometimes I do. But this website really helps.0 -
Ok Ladies, I hope to add this as some motiviation for the pushup challenge. Before we get to the exercises here are some facts. Chest exercises women alone will not make your breasts bigger. Breasts are made up of fatty tissue and pectoral (chest) muscles are made of lean muscle. The breasts sit on top of these muscles. In fact if you are trying to lose weight they will most likely get smaller, however this should be in proportion to the rest of your body as you will get smaller everywhere, so nothing lost.
What these Chest Exercises - Women will do though is strengthen and build the chest muscles that sit underneath and support the bust, this will make your boobs seem firmer and give them a lift, giving the appearance of a bigger chest. Certainly more toned. So if you want a fitter, firmer, enhanced chest that defies gravity and looks natural get ready to do some challenging exercises

Hello All - great work this week! Keep it up!
The push up/sit-up challenge works for me. We can alternate days if sore.
tttthumper - thanks for the information about the female chestFirmer, lifted boobs sound great to me!!
Speaking of boobs .... I signed my self up for a poll dancing class at the gym! The gym trainers say its a good workout and they themselves were sore after a class. So this should be interesting. The class is tomorrow. Also signed up for an aerobics and cycling class this weekend - time to get sweatin'!!
Oh and thank you all for the support. About 3 weeks and 5 pounds for me! That's pretty darn good!!0 -
Mornin all
I am so sore after yesterdays open house, my legs and back are killing me. Did not sleep good last night so depending on how I feel when I get home will depend on if I get a workout in or not0 -
I love the push-up challenge. I think I will strive for at least 10 a day in any form.
I am feeling back on the bandwagon today. I started with a good breakfast today, something I have been sorely lacking the last few weeks. I plan on logging everything today too--the hard part at times.Have a great day. I am off to go exercise and then make a costume for my daughter (cinderella) interspersed with cleaning house. The day will be going rather fast I think.

Push up challenge!! I LOVE it!!
I'll work on my push ups later tonight - as I just got back from step & tone class & we already did lots of arm & back work. I was able to burn 370 calories but I'm going to get on the treadmill & bring my total up to 500 for the day!
I just have to have a loss this week! The weekend will be the true test! If I can just get through & behave myself, I know that I'll be okay!
Taradise, congrats on your loss & that class sounds like so much fun!! Enjoy! Who knows, it may inspire you to burn some calories w/ the hubby later!! :blushing: :blushing: :blushing: Bad Sandy!!!
Anyway, keep at it Pshook! One day, one workout, one meal at a time!! Keep your focus!! I know you did real well when you & your BF challenged each other! Any new challenge ideas for him & yourself??
Debnu, great job on the healthy breakfast. It realy does make a difference & I agree that it seems to set the pace for the day! Enjoy your busy day!
Smadag1, I hope that you're not too sore today & if you may find that if you can get a nice, gentle walk in it may actually help work out the tightness you may be feeling in your legs.
Peter, thanks for all the great info & for setting up a great challenge for the week!! Keep up the great work!
Oh well, gotta run - litterally!! The treadmill can't burn these calories for me!!
:flowerforyou: Sandy0 -
You're right, Sandy!! I did much better when I was challenging with my bf. I'm going to talk to him to see if we can figure out a new challenge. It's just difficult because he's worked out a lot longer than I have and doesn't really need to lose any weight.
Any ideas anyone?0 -

He doesn't need to lose weight, but does he want to gain muscle?
Strength challenge, any exercise you do with weights, he double your weight.
Any other exercises, see if he can double the amount of reps you do in same time?
What kind of exercises are you two doing, might make it easier to suggest something.0 -

Great suggestiions Peter!!
Also, I was thinking about your past challenge of him running. What about something like that?? The couch to 5 k ( C25K) training program might be fun for the both of you to do together...0 -
so my hubby and I were going to get up early and workout before he went to work and he backed out on me. I don't blame him he needs the sleep. So I'm going to start working out tomorrow. I really would love to have a treadmill. so i feel like im all alone again.0

Hello everyone. I hope your weekends are going well.
I just want to go on record as saying that a pole dancing class is no joke!! My entire upper body is extremely sore. I can barely unscrew a jar! I have a new found respect for those who can dance with a pole!! Although, I don't intend to change careers
Therefore, I am sucking at this weeks pushup/abs challenge but I'll try to end the week with a few. Sunday is a cycling class for me - give my upper body a break.
Keep on trucking beautiful blues!!0 -
Sorry I've been MIA again. Took a few steps back and did some reflecting and......I'm moving to TEXAS! Hahaha. I'm still jobless and the opportunity presented itself so I'm taking a risk and going for it! I'll be spending about a month selling all my stuff and preparing my car for the trip. Just packing as much as I can into it and heading out. I'm excited! I'll be moving in with my sister and her family until I get a job and a place of my own and she's going to be my P90x buddy. Can't wait!0

Sandy & Peter-- I appreciate your ideas, but this is the problem. He's been working out much longer than I have. He lifts weights regularly.....and he lifts quite a bit. For example, I can bench 105 lbs, but he can bench 245 lbs. So, he already more than doubles my weight in about everything we do. Bicep curls: me-20 lbs him-45 lbs. Dumbbell press: me-25 lbs him-85 lbs. I think you get the picture. I don't even wanna talk about legs
And the same goes for running. I run between 6 and 7.5 mph and he runs between 7 and 10 mph....and he can run longer than I can. I actually feel bad when he runs with me, because I know he has to be bored. When we did the challenge before, his challenge was to run 5 miles at the end of the month. He didn't even prepare really....he just did it when the time came. It wasn't easy....but he did it. He's just in much better shape than I am.
Also, I have a confession to make. I honestly think that I have a problem with food. It really just started recently. I was getting hooked on sodas again. I mean, to the point that I would drink them and hide the evidence. I would go to the gas station and get a 32 oz soda, a brownie and some cookies and down it all in an hour. I've been soda free since the beginning of October, but I still haven't gotten the eating back under control. I've never been like this before, and I don't know why I am all of the sudden. Sometimes, I feel like I could just eat all day......and I can't even seem to force myself to eat a salad these days. I'm really scared I'm going to get back to my old weight.....so, why can't I stop. Or I should say, why haven't i stopped.........because I know that I can.
Anyway, enough rambling. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Patricia-ask him if you can set the pace running...that's what my husband and I do - he runs with me once or twice a week....we ran 4 miles and walked one today! I love that time together. Try to avoid those places that offer those choices....I know it seems simple but if you bought your soda in a 2 liter and filled up your cup there, less chance of you refilling it, it's cheaper and you wouldn't be staring at all the "junk" that a convenience store offers. EDIT - just realized that ttthumper was talking about running with his friend and you were talking about challenges with your BF....ooops!
Rach-WOW...that's exciting. Stay focused on YOU too during your transition.
Taradise - that sounds FUN and wouldn't my hubby just love that - where did you take it?
jess-you are not alone - we're here for you. Pull out that 30 day shred and shred away!0 -
I'm going to start doing the 30 day shred tomorrow and then go from there. My husband worked out yesterday and he is really sore. I will start at level 1 and then work my way back up to level 3 which is where I was. i have lost 2lbs in a week but will weigh myself again on wed. to see what that says. im so excited to be on this journay again. :drinker:0
-
j_g4ever - glad to hear that you got your focus back! I always feel better when I know I have the control again.
pshook - some days will power is hard to come by. Maybe working in some low cal sweets or a diet soda a few times a week will help curve the craving. I don't drink soda, never have.... but I ALWAYS have something sweet. Usually a 100 cal pack of cookies or Skinny Cow ice cream. For some reason, I need to reward myself after a day/week of eating right... so I work some low cal stuff into the plan. Keep your head up!
chrissyh - I took the pole dancing class at my gym. They offered a special workshop for it - its not a regular class. However, I think there are regular classes somewhere because they handed out business cards after the class. My back and arms are still sore as heck!!
RachVR6 - enjoy the changes you are making in your life! I love to make exciting changes when I can... sometimes being risky is fun. Glad you'll have a workout buddy when you move - you are already thinking about how to continue your weight loss journey - great!!0 -
Did level 3 of the 30 day shred Saturday and my upper body is still sore, plus did a little yard work but had to stop when I picked up some mowed grass and got into an ant bed (little suckers tore my hands up:grumble: ) Will do the shred again tonight while the guys watch tv0
-
Strength day today - tuesday will be 2 mile run, Wed 5 miles, thur strength, Friday rest, Sat 5k, sunday - we'll see0
-
smadag1 - nice job with the 30 day shred workout!! I've never gone up to level 3 yet.
chrissyh - wow, you have everything all planned out. Good for you!! And a 5 mile run! High Five!! Good luck with the 5k on Saturday.
Ok so I'll plan out my workout too - help keep me accountable:
Monday: Spinning class
Tuesday: Boxing class
Wednesday: Step Aerobics
Thursday: Bowling night, no gym
Friday: Aerobics/Dance class
Saturday: Boxing or spinning class
Sunday: Strength day
Hopefully I'll get all these work outs in! My muscles are still recovering so I'll lay off the strength this week.0 -

It seems like it has been a very long weekend. My daughter decided to pull out the stops and cried about going to school, how she hates it all day Saturday and Sunday. :grumble: I am about to go from feeling bad to just irritated. She claims she won't stop crying until I say that she can stay home. We'll see what happens. She has always been a little drama queen to some extent--so I hope that she is just milking it for all she can. I have to step back and wonder what the payoff is though... haven't figured it out yet.
I have done quite well with pushups. My rest day is Sunday so I did 20 on Saturday and then the shred level 1 which had at least 20 also. It had been so long since I have completed that video that my legs and arms were shaking ...I also used 5 lb weights though.
You guys are all so awesome and motivating. :drinker: Keep up the great work!:drinker:
pshook--I have a hard time with food too. I have found that if I allow myself one treat everyday I do better. A dark chocolate square seems to do the trick. As long as I am eating my fruits and vegies too. I once heard that when your body is craving sugar it is actually craving fruit, so if you eat fruit every 4 hours your sugar cravings disappear. I actually ate a bowl of peaches the other day that tasted like heaven.
Rach--good luck with the move. Take care of yourself and keep in touch!!
Have a great monday!!:flowerforyou:0 -
My son has H1N1.....I sure hope I am not next! :noway: :grumble: Poor little (well not so little) guy - he's running 102.6 fever - he's 13 - he's miserable!0

:flowerforyou:
Chrissy I was thinking about you Saturday while I was doing the shred. I wanted to stop but I kept picturing you on my couch telling me not to give up on myself0 -

Glad I could "Be there" for you! I am proud of you for doing it and you should be proud of you! I always think thru something.....like on a day where I am lacking motivation (yes I have them too) - I go whip out my size 22s and put them up to me and it's a holy crap moment of NEVER EVER EVER again - and it's easy to go on that run or lift weights! I have cleaned out my closet to only clothes that fit except the jeans.....my closet is pretty bare!0 -

I am so sorry. Remember to wash your hands!!I wish your son a speedy recovery. This flu is no fun!

I didn't do the 30day shred however my husband and I did this geocaching so I got about a mile walk in if not more. I was walking back to my car and my legs went. Its like the signal between my brain and my legs just weren't working really weird but for my seizures it wasn't.0
