Christmas is a great motivator for me. I would love to lose 40 pounds by then. I permanently cured myself of McDonalds when I heard about pink slime. I'm hoping to find out scandalous information about Taco Bell now. I would really love to hear how people are doing their nutrition and staying fairly un-hungry.

Jean - I am hoping to shed 40lbs before my sister-in-laws wedding in October.
So I suppose that fits in??

    ~As for todays temptation:
Today at work there was yet another 'cake buffet' for someones birthday.

    My solution?
Checked out my calories used and planned calorie count for the day on MFP.
Then checked out what was on offer.
Found some delicious brownie bites @ just 55 calories each.

Two bites and a nice hot cup of tea satisfied both temptation AND calorie count!
    Woohoo!

I'm working on the principle that no food is off limits
    - the only limits are on the quantities not the food itself!

I have 59 pounds to lose by 8th December- otherwise I need to find a new bridesmaids dress! Not feeling positive about it at all.
  • I started adding friends!--but it'll only let me do 5 requests every 10 minutes. lololol DARN

Same here! That's my mentality exactly :) If I want something, why not have a little bit of it? This way I'm never dieting, never missing out, just being smart about it! Hahaha McDonalds? I pick a small meal, have it with water and without the sauce, but I'm still getting what I want!

Hopefully this strategy will work and pay off by Christmas! Hahaa
  • I'm hoping to lose 60ish by then, so I'm in too! I've learned that I need to eat healthier foods, rather than try to fit it into my calorie count for the day. If I'm craving something sweet, then I try to grab some fresh fruit rather than cookies or something else. Whole foods keep you full longer than processed foods, and they are just better for you! Also, running burns so many calories. I have been working out every morning at 5 for 2 months, and I've just recently started running 3 days a week in the afternoon and I'm loving it. I'm back to losing weight again after a short "break" and I just love the peace and quiet that running brings to my day. Keep up the good work people, and I'm thinking that we should have a whole lot of "after pictures" the week between Christmas and New Years!

I totally want to be in your club!! Secret handshake and all!!!
I'm having some trouble out of the gate. It's consistency that is killing any momentum. I am good for a bit, but then fall off the wagon. Maybe having this tangible goal will help keep things in perspective. My actual desire would be to lose 50 by then, but I'd be ecstatic with 40.
We totally GOT this!!! <---- Eye of the Tiger!!!

hi all! I've been on MFP for a while now and seem to sabotage myself as soon as I make any progress. Maybe if I make some friends it will help keep me on track! Could I be part of your group? I need to lose 35 lbs to get to goal weight by Christmas. I have resigned myself to another summer squeezing my big butt into a bathing suit, but perhaps I could wear a sexy red dress for Christmas!! :) Wouldn't that by the best present we can give ourselves?

I'd love to lose another 40lbs by Christmas! I figure I've taken off a little over 20 in 3 months. If I stick to that progress, that means 40 is totally doable 6 months from now!

My plan to continue my weight loss:
--Reduce my soda intake even more than it currently is (hopefully down to only one can a week and eventually no cans a week)
--Incorporate more veggies into my daily meals instead of a few times a week
--Make my meals come from home prep instead of fast food and restaurants

--Keep up my 5K training schedule and run 4-5x a week
--Attend 3-5 Group X classes at the gym a week (currently doing 2-3 a week)
--Start measuring my body and taking progress pics.
    --Buy a HRM

When I find myself at a fast food place, I opt for the kid's meal and the minute maid light lemonade as the drink. Satisfies my cravings and the portions are much more reasonable

I'm IN! Any suggestions on posting frequency, etc?
  • Feel free to add me in. I want to drop 40lbs or more (probably not possible) by Dec 7 when me and my boyfriend and our now 11 week old daughter go to visit my family in New York for a late Thanksgiving/early Christmas.

I only eat whole foods, hardly anything processed. Nothing from a grocery store that has more then 5 ingredients in it. I don't eat white sugar or white flour. I use honey/maple syrup and I like it better. And white whole wheat flour, though I'm trying to use other types of flours when I can but they are majorly expensive and I'm still on disability from having my daughter (I'm still not healed from my emergency c-section.) But anyways anyone is welcome to add me..

And Yesterday's hardship was that I didn't get my walk in due to having to go unexpectedly to my primary doctors then my obgyn. And I get to go back to her today again. What a vicious cycle with all these doctors to find out why my c-section wont heal.

Add me to the list. :drinker:
  • Add me in! :drinker: 40lbs before Xmas would be a treat! :glasses:

I struggle most with portion size and the need to finish my plate (and so far smaller plates have not found the way into my house - have to change that!!) :embarassed:

I also want to start the C25K soonish, but have busy weekends planned until the end of July..
