If Everyday Were Like Today, You Would Weigh....

I think it probably depends on what deficit you're in and whether or not you actually weigh and track everything you eat. For months mine was 'wrong', because I was eating **** and not tracking closely enough, nor in a big deficit. Now I'm about -800 cals a day, and eat so extremely cleanly that it's impossible to NOT know what I'm eating.
At the rate I'm going it says I will weigh 134.5lb in 5 weeks. I lost almost 7lb (including water weight) last week, so I know that it's correct.0 -
It says if everyday were like today. Every day is NOT like today. OP, I looked at your diary and it is nowhere near the same every day. Why would you think this applies to you?0
-
I wish I could turn it off... It pisses me off. Lol0
-
I personally find it amusing .... doesn't bother me much but at times when I go way over reminds me that my 40 pounds that I've lost could very well come back0

I dont even bother clicking complete anymore. Its still saves my logs and I dont have to see that annoying msg anymore lol0

Always accurate within a pound for me.0

I think it's only accurate at high weights for people who have a lot to lose. There are some weeks I don't lose anything and then the next week a pound a day. But by the end of 5 weeks , I'm magically where it said I would be.0

I get a chuckle our of it... especially when it tells me I'm gonna lose 15 pounds in 5 weeks
as much as I'd love that I know my body and my near non existent metabolism and that aint gonna happen0 -
I've never been accused of being normal...just saying lol0

My first goal was almost 100% accurate.
Here is what I did, when I got that message I put the projected weight in my calendar 5 weeks away.
Every day I made a point of it saying that goal weight or lighter. If it was too high I did some cardio or whatever to burn the excess.
I literally just squeaked in by a 1/2 pound lighter than the goal.
I am finding it more difficult to do this time around.0 -
I ignore it.

By "If every day were like today" is based on the number of calories only. It doesn't look at the kinds of foods you ate. It is simple math as others have indicated.
Mine is always way off, but usually it indicates I will weigh more than I end up weighing when the fifth week actually rolls around.0 -
On May 17th I took note of what that little message said..."If everday were like today you will weigh 196.3 in 5 weeks"...five weeks would bring us to June 22nd...on Monday, which was only June 4th I weighed in at 195.9. So I have already reached the weight that it was predicted that I would weigh 2 1/2 weeks from now. :drinker:
How great it would be if it always worked like that! However, as we all know, there are these little things called plateaus...I have sometimes gone 3 weeks weighing exactly the same even though "everday was like today". :grumble:
So no, I don't really pay attention to that little message...it is just sometimes fun to keep track and see how right, or wrong, the prediction was. Anything that keeps me focused on my weight loss plan has to be good.
Cheers everyone...0 -

I read it just because. Everyday is never the same for me. So after reading it I just forget about it.

That thing doesn't make any sense. If every day were like today then I'd wake up every morning weighing exactly the same amount. I could even kidnap a groundhog and drive off a cliff with it and still wake up the next morning like none of it happened.0

I would say this. :-)

I was curious of this. So I actually marked a day in my calendar on June 18th (which was exactly 5 weeks ahead at the time) asking if I was that weight yet. My calories fluctuated from my goal from 50-150 over at times and when June 18th came around I had only missed that little goal by 1.5 pounds over the prediction. To me... I thought that was pretty darn close!0

Well in three years, you'd think MFP would have changed it to "if every week were like this week", which would probably offer a more accurate prediction.0
