Protein shakes for breakfast?

I've thinking about getting some protein powder and using that for my breakfast to make sure I get enough protein in the AM.
If you use protein powder in the morning, how do you use it? Do you make it a shake, and if so, is that the only thing you eat, and is it enough to keep you satisfied til a morning snack?
Or, how else do you use it, and is it satisfying?
Any help or info is greatly appreciated. I've really only used protein for after working out, mixed with water.

i either have a shake made with water or almond milk or sometimes I add a scoop of dairy flavour to my milk and pour over cereal0

I either have it with just water or mixed with spinach in a blender.
It fills me more than any breakfast and i'm not hungry at all until lunch0 -
I drink a protein shake for breakfast with water or almond milk. I use either GNC Lean or Beverly International UMP chocolate.0

I eat a protein shake really early in the am (around 6 or 7 after my am workout) so I usually eat 2 ounces of almonds around 10 to tide me over until lunch.0
-
i have it after my workout in the morning at around 8am...keeps me full for like 2 hours tops0

do any of you add it to smoothies and eat that for breakfast?0

I make a smoothie every morning for breakfast that is vanilla protein powder, yogurt, an orange energy crystal light on-the-go packet, some ice and a splash of almond milk. All told, it's about 210 calories and it's all I eat for breakfast. It definitely keeps me satisfied until lunch much more than cereal did.0

I've tried oh so many times to just use a protein smoothie for breakfast, but i'm always hungry later. I've done all sorts of fruits and veggie combos, chia seeds, flax meal, dry oatmeal (STOMACHACHE CITY!) but unless a smoothie keeps you pretty full, I don't think the added protein does muchh good.0

i start my morning with a tbsp of bulk barn 100% whey isolate in my coffee (grind it in with the sugar before pouring the coffee) then i do my workout (the coffee combo helps with the am stiffness from sleeping funny) and finish with a body fortress shake and 2% milk the combo gives enough cals for my breakfast (switched to this from slim fast!) and protein to help after the workout.0

I add protein powder to skimmed mlk and fresh fruit like strawberries.
I combine protein powder to greek yougart and then add to oatmeal.
I add protein powde to low fat chocolate milk with a banana and peanut butter.
I add protein powder to no fat cottage cheese and add fruit.
There are various ways to enjoy it.
I have any of the above after my AM workout (around 8am) and I am full then till lunchtime.0 -
I make a smoothie in the morning for breakfast after my workout...1 scoop of protein, 1 cup of almond milk, half a banana and 1 tsp of peanut butter with ice...yummy!0

Yes, i do drink a protein shake for b'fast...
I have been making me a smoothie by adding ice to the shake & blending it to make it thicker. I also eat something very light, like a caramel flavor rice cake or cereal bar to get me thru the morning.
in my shake i use water or a combo of water & almond milk w/ ice...it's yummy
oh & i use body fortress chocolate whey protein powder.0 -
that does sound yummy! I might just try that!0

I use a cup of milk, water, sometimes oats, flaxseed, and protein powder. Mix it up in a shaker. I use this for the morning but I also eat something as well. I'm sure some peanut butter and banana in there would fill you up0

yep i usually do almond milk + whey protein + frozen berries. blend in blender til smooth. i prefer frozen fruit so it's nice and cold0

I make my shakes with almond milk and ice in the blender. They come out like milkshakes! I drink them anytime, including breakfast sometimes0

I use EAS shakes. Low carb high protein. Saves time not making it myself. Only about $1 each.0

Abs Diet has some great smoothie recipes with protein powder. It's usually a little yogurt, some skim milk, fruit, protein powder, and often flaxseed. I have found that it usually fills me up until 11 - so if my lunch is later than that I need some almonds or a cheese stick as an a.m. snack.0

I've had shakes for breakfast the past 3 mornings. I eat at 7, and it keeps me until 11:30. I think yogurt really helps it, and berries are good for you. Check out my diary to see how I have been making it. 1/2 a cup each of skim milk, yogurt, berries. 3 ice cubes, a scoop of chocolate protein powder. 260 calories. I think it's awesome.0

I use Syntrax Nectar - Crystal Sky and Nectar are my favorite 1 scoop 90 cal, 0 carb, 23 g prot. I blend it with 1/2 c straw, 1/2 small banana and ice. Yummy - most mornings it keeps me full until break time. I also do a protein muffin with it that is 45 cal.0

For me, as a rule- I do not like to drink my calories....I have lost 11 lbs, in 7 weeks staying on a 1200 calorie a day diet and get on my eliptical for 20 minutes 3 times a week, and it is working great for me!! I am 56 and just felt is was time to get back in shape!!0

I mix 1 scoop of chocolate powder, 1 cup of skim milk, 1 tsp. of instant coffee, and a couple of ice cubes. It's pretty filling, but if you're still hungry you could also have some fruit or some almonds along side it.0

I either just have it as a shake or I make protein pancakes. Protein pancakes are a nice, filling way to start the day off with a good amount of protein and healthy carbs.0

I use Jillian Michaels Whey Protein (the vanilla cream shake is my favorite, triple chocolate is ok). I've drank it as a meal before, most recently breakfast. I liked it a lot. It really does keep me full until lunch. I did one scoop (as recommended) and 8 oz. 1% milk and had a banana on the side. I think it's alright to do that once in a while but I wouldn't make that an every day thing (having a protein shake).0 -
I have a protein shake in the morning with 8oz skim milk,1 tbsp peanut butter and 1 tbsp sugar free chocolate syrup. Sometimes I add a banana. It is really good! I have that at 7:30am and I am not hungry until lunchtime. I have been using the Visalus mix but that got expensive so i switched to Body Fortress Whey Protein. I have been using 1/2 scoop of the BF mix due to calories. The Visalus mix is really good! There is a app for iphones with Visalus recipes that can be used with any protein mix. The app itself does not work great however once you download, immediately tap recipes and it will come up. If you don't have an iphone just do a google search for Visalus shake recipes. Hope this helps! :-)0

I often have 1 1/2 scoops of protein powder mixed with 1 cup of almond milk and a little water for breakfast. I just shake it up in a bottle. It is fairly filling and i usually have a piece of fruit in the morning at some point for a snack. I also have 1 scoop mixed with water after my workouts.0
