That funny story is awesome! Ha ha ha! I'm 37, so I'll have to say, not cougar. Past that, the number is just a number. Have fun!

    Funny story...

My dad's second wife has lot of single friends in their 40's. Dad had overheard his second wife's son calling them a bunch of cougars. Thinking he had figured out what this meant from the conversation he had overheard, felt very confident of his understanding of the term.

So he started calling ALL of them cougars to their face. Oh so and so you are SUCH a cougar....

Look at you, you are COUGAR...and so on and so forth.

He gets on the phone with me, a little puzzled (as he often is when he falls into these situations) and says, half of my wifes friends aren't talking to me....they seem to get really upset when I call them Cougars.

Which is what your stepbrother called them! I don't understand!

Dad.... I said .....what is a cougar?

Well, it's a fierce smart successful business woman (because all of these ladies were definitely in that catagory).

(insert maniacal laughing from me here)

No no no...Dad...a cougar is a woman in her forties or older, who chases after younger men for a purely sexual relationship.

oh.....oh NO...no...now I have to apologize to ALL of them.

    Me: Go get'em Tiger.

    Dad: Wait...what's a tiger?

    LOL

oh the tiols and turmoils of dads.

    Lauren

So I guess when the woman is older and lands a young dude they're Cougars, but when they are young and latch onto an older man they're gold diggers right? And when an older guy hooks up with a younger woman (10-15 yrs) we are cradle robbers, perverts or child snatchers ? And if a man finds an older woman we're gigolos...so really, it depends on who the hunter is and who the prey is on the label they get.

If the man started first grade before the woman graduated, no cougar.

That's just a Puma. Gotta be over 40 to be a Cougar. Either way, as long as everyone is over 18, it's all good. To each his own (or her own...)

Personally, I think that a cougar (in this way of speaking) is a woman who consistently looks for much much younger men and why shouldn't a woman date anyone she wants within the limits of the law? My husband is 39 and I am 52. I only dated one other younger man and he was only 4 years younger and he lied about his age to me lol. But regardless, I am happy as heck for almost 18 years of marriage with my man:)

Depends on the maturity level of both people involved, especially the man.

I know several couples where the woman is at least 10 years older than the man....myself included....I am over 50 and he is in his 40's....most of the time I have more energy than he does....but I wouldn't call myself a cougar...lol....I look young for my age and he looks a bit older than his....... no one has given me a high 5 for dating a younger man since it seems to the outside world that we are about the same age....I think as long as you have enough things in common, it doesn't matter what the age difference is....

I've always thought of Cougars being women in their 40s and up. 31 isn't exactly old, you're barely out of your 20s yourself.

The formula is (apparently) Half your age + 7 years. So 32 would be 16+7= 23

Not a cougar. Can't argue with the formula.

My godmother consistently dated men that were barely legal. I know it sounds like a porn movie lol, but she would bring over her latest "man" every once in a while and most of the time they were 18-21. She must of been around my age then, 36. She's in her 60's now and her man must be in his late 40's or so...been together this whole time.
Different strokes for different folks. She's happy, so we're happy for her.

I always think of cougars as 50 somethings chasing 20 somethings for fun not relationships.

I was 30 when I got with my partner who was 22 at the time. Still together 5 years on.

Fair game. but in the end , ive met 31 year olds who are as mature as a 16 year old, and i work with them. I consider myself a few years ahead of my own, but if this 23 year old s is ripe, then no foul, enjoy btw.

No, that is not a cougar. If she was 40 with a 23 year old man I'd consider her a cougar.
