as a kid, teen, whatever, I'm sure 95 percent of us did not want to be what we are now.

What did you want to be? (beyond ballerinas and firefighters)

I always wanted to be a dentist. Then it turned into being a forensic dentist... I have a weird obsession with teeth.

I wanted to be a vet... then one day I realized that it was a WHOLE lot more than cuddling cute little puppies and kittens.

A broadway star. Not kidding, that was basically my life goal until I was about 19 and realized cute girls that can sing and dance are a dime a dozen. Kinda glad I changed my major at this point, most of my friends (I do actually have a couple friends who are working actors) are still bartenders and waitresses going on auditions.

When I was a kid I wanted to work with dolphins. When I was a teenager I wanted to work in theatre.

Trained and did the whole working in theatre thing until I was 25 (stage manager). Enjoyed it less and less as every year went by, mostly because of the awful job security, bad pay and lousy hours. Ended up retraining as a political agent which isn't a job I think anyone grows up aspiring to, but means I'm on first name terms with a lot of the leading decision makers in the UK and allows me to make my job sound much more impressive at dinner parties :-p

I wanted to be Rockette- until I figured out that you have to be thin and be able to kick really high. Neither are my strong attributes. So now I am a lawyer.

I always wanted to be a lawyer or a journalist but then I rebelled at 16 and messed up my education and life took over. Maybe one day I'll do something about it :frown:

When I was 5, I loved the idea of being an astronaut, but I wanted to be a mission specialist. I wanted to be a guy that was in charge of doing something very specific and technical, pushing all kinds of buttons and everything.

Now, I'm a systems engineer for a government contractor, which is so much closer than I was when I graduated college. Who knows? Maybe if I can get healthy and get in the right doors, I may still get that childhood fantasy. ^_^

I wanted to be an actress or a singer. I loved both. I was good at both (in my head at least). I mean, even now, if I could be an actress, I would be. Being able to step on stage, assume a new identity and get to live in that one for a little while was such a wonderful feeling. To be able to escape MY reality for a few hours was great. I still love the smell of the theater and the feel of the crappy costume material. The tension in the groups within the group. The ones that always wanted to be more and the ones that always wanted to fade into the background. ..... I could have done it too....... I know I could have.

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a biochemist. Not just any biochemist but more like the movie Medicine Man. I cant think of anything cooler than living in the rainforest and finding medicines. I even went to college for it. But reality sets in quick at that age. lol

I always wanted to be a vet until I went with my mom to take our dog and cried because they gave him a shot. Too emotional for that line of work. Now I'm an accountant.
