For all you 5'3" ladies out there... Ideal weight!?

I know everyone's body shape is different, but I'm really hoping if any of you can let me know what an ideal weight would be for someone who is 5'3"? I've always been overweight since the age of 9 so I have no idea what to really aim for. I started at 220 lbs and so far have lost over 50 lbs and am now at 166.7 lbs.
I'm not looking for a stick-thin figure, but a more so 'toned/lean' look and not have my lower stomach/stomach hang out over my pants. :ohwell:
Anyone who's sucessfully reached their goal or about there? What are yours numbers? I'd love and appreciate any feedback.
Happy losing!!
PS. I'd love new MFP friends!!!

The healthy weight is 114-134. I read it on a site..0

My doctor told me 120 would be ideal, but I've been told by numerous people that I look amazing right now at 130-135. However, I think I'd rather be 115.0
-
My ideal is usually around 110, but I am pretty small framed. Here is me at 130 ,
me at 120 ,
and me at 110
Everyone is different though. I'm working to get back down to 110- almost there! I do carry some muscle on me, but my doctor says I'm good as long as I'm under 130 and over 100. I do pageants to help pay for school... so 110 it is!1 -
I think most women at 5'3" look good between 110 and 130.0
-
Depends on your frame. My doctor told me between 147 and 107 depending on the frame. 147 is for a big frame 107 is the smallest with small frame. I am considered a small frame at 5'3 and I feel more like a medium frame, my goal is 115-120 which ever I like best. I'm 130 right now.

I'm the same height as you and one of my goals is to get to about 60kg (approx 132lbs) I would like to get down to pre baby size 55kg (121lbs), that would mean I have a whole wardrobe of clothes that I can wear again!
I think what ever size you get to that is in the healthy range and you feel comfortable with is the right size for you.
Good luck with the rest of your journey, you've done wonderful so far!0 -
Well I'm 5' 2.5 and I'm 157 now and my goal is 145lbs I consider myself a medium frame!0
-
I'm 5'2.5 (almost 5'3...lol) and my goal for now is 130...I may lower it to 120-ish after that, but I'm just planning on seeing where I feel the best.
Congrats on your weight loss....awesome job so far!0 -
As cliche as it sounds, I have a lot of muscle... The ideal weight my doc told me for 5"3 would be 130 but because of my muscle mass, at 170 he told me I was healthy and would never get to 130... He actually said I would look sickly... I think I looked pretty good at 170 and no one would have ever thought I was that weight but they also always asked if I lifted, and at the time in middle and high school, I didn't... I'm shooting for 160 though1

i'm 5'3"
I started at 195lbs, and I am currently at 157-158lbs.
Honestly, my body is pretty muscular... and I'm not looking to be very thin... my goal weight is 135lbs, but once I get down to 143ish I will reevaluate what I want. My measurements have already gone from 42-35-45 to 39-31.5-40... I'm pretty sure I would lose a lot of my bust if I lost a ton of weight. I already lost most of my derriere and am trying to make up for it in crunches
Of course, everyone has their preferences. I more or less tend to idolize bodies which are curvier or more muscular, so I would suggest again, something around 130-140 lbs (at the top portion of the healthy weight category of BMIs).1 -
Man! I wish I looked like you when I was 169! I'm just under 5'3" and my goal is between 115 and 120. A healthy weight range would be between 145 and 110, depending on your frame. Just remember, you're beautiful!! Good luck!0
-
mine would be 66-60kg. I have a large frame so that weight would be ideal for me.0
-
I'm large framed so I'm aiming for 132 lbs.0
-
The normal weight is 120-145. You are very curvy, you would look great at 130-140.0
-
I am 5'3" and am currently 192lbs. I am aiming for 140lbs. I am a stocky build and like the curves.1
-
I'm 5"2 currently 150 lbs I have a small frame but "pear shape" where most of my weight is in my butt and thighs, I think an Idea weight for me would be 120 I don't want to be super thin just toned and muscular. BTW you look great at your current weight!
Happy loosing!1 -
I think too many people are looking for that magical number on the scale. Its about what you feel like. What your comfortable with bone structure, LBM. Do what makes you happy.1
-
I'm an older version of most... :-)
I'm the approx the same height at 5'2", and have a small frame.
I am aiming for 121lb (55kg), and am currently at 133lb (60kg)
I started at 166lb (75kg)2 -
All of your replies are very informative and great!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! :flowerforyou:1 -
you look great!! im 5,3 my lowest has been 161.. and im about 168! I try not to focus on the numbers anymore even though its a good way to have a goal! I just want to be healthy and look good naked but ideally! i think 135-145 is good for my body shape!! I still want some curves.. just dont want to be stick thin!0

I am 5'2" and am happiest around 115-120. My current goal is 120, but i am small framed, pear shaped and tend to be skinny fat regardless of how much weight training i do!
There are ways to test your frame size. Apparently the easiest way is to put your fingers round your opposite wrist over the bones. If your thumb and middle finger overlap you are small framed, if they just touch you are medium framed and if they don't touch you are large framed. This is a good indicator as to where to aim within your healthy range. Obviously the smaller framed you are the lower you aim on the scale.
I found this a good method to find a goal to aim for. BUT.... you need to do what feels right for you. Every body has its on "set" point or happy point and you should aim for that. When you are happy and have a healthy body and can maintain easily then that's the weight for you
Good luck. Feel free to add me as a friend also. Caz x2 -
I'm a small or medium frame. Either way my ideal weight would be between 115 and 120, but i feel like at 144 I still have a lot of fat on me which means I would probably need to get to a lower weight around 115. I don't look heavy with clothes on, but I without I still have plenty of fat to lose. It all depends on the person. My roommate in college was 5'5 and 150 and she looked like super fit and was a size 4.. so it all depends on a person's body shape and how they carry their weight... i unfortunately don't carry it well.0

I'm 5'2 (on a good day) and back in my pre-pregnancy days, I needed to stay around 130 to look healthy. At my smallest, I was 112, and even though I didn't see it then, when I look at pictures from that time I realize how sickly I looked.0
-
Hmm... It can really vary can't it? I'm looking to get down to 75kg, see what I look like and go from there, cause I have NEVER as an adult been a healthy weight. My doctor said the theory is 55-65kg (double it to work in lb) but as I say, I'm just going for 75kg and then re-assess the situation, since that's quite enough of a challenge for me as it is!
Keep going girl, you look gorgeous!0 -
150-154lbs was about perfect for me (that height), lower made me get lots of gaunt comments.0
-
Well, I started with an initial goal last year of lbs but when I reached it I wasn't entirely satisfied. I guess it will vary from person to person according to body type, frame, age etc (I'm only 17), but I felt best at about 110-112lbs. I've now regained a lot of it and so 115lbs is my first goal and if I feel I can do better, I set more goals by 2lb intervals until it suits me. Whilst it is very important to keep a FEASIBLE initial goal in line, it needn't be set in stone. I could tell 5lbs from my goal of 115lbs that it wouldn't be ideal for me, so it demoralised me a bit. That all said, now I'm older and more mature, I will settle for 115-117
Sorry for the ramble!1 -
I'm around 5'4" (probably closer to 5'3.5" honestly) and I'm in the 145-150lb range. I would consider myself large framed. I know it seems like the high end for the height, but I am happy and content here. It is easy for me to maintain (which is important) and I can buy a pair of size 10 pants off the rack at any store, in any brand and they fit.1
-
I'm 5'3" with a small frame, currently 115 (see profile pic for how I look at this weight) looking to stay in the 110-115 range and just focus on having a healthier mindset toward food and being fit0
-
at 130 I was happy and felt great. at 110, I look sick in pictures and my arms looked way too boney. I am aiming for 130 but set myself a mini goal of 150...I am currently 185 and I started out at 195...good luck on your journey!0
-
at 5ft 2.5 inches I'm aiming for 125-130.
I would say im average frame i suppose.
I'm currently 169.8 (at last weigh in ) and some think i should just maintain that.0
