Another way to get these predictions is with an Excel spreadsheet. You can autofill the first column with each day of the year. When you do a weigh-in (I do mine every Friday morning), you put that weight in the second column on the correct date. In Chart Wizard, it'll chart those points and then you can choose to have Excel draw a best-fit line for those points. As you add more points on the chart, it updates the best fit line. I like it a lot. Really boosts my confidence that I'll reach my goal. And if I plateau for a few weeks, it just pulls the line up a bit, instead of causing self-talk that I'm failing and will never reach my goal.0

What? If you're set to lose 1 pound per week then just count the weeks... why do you need a web site to calculate this for you?
It seems a little more complicated than that. It calculates the changing calorie needs and deficits as you lose weight. So if you weigh 250lb you need a certain deficit to lose 2lb, but if you weigh 125lb you would have different calculations. As you lose, your calculations change.
it's not, really, more complicated than that. Your goals and your calories burned change along the way and you adjust with them. Why do people think math is complicated? It's not. REALLY it's not.
Maybe some people have more interesting stuff to do than work it out, and like the fact that someone else has done it.
And maybe some people DO find maths complicated. We can't all be perfect.
Some people really do find maths complicated. It's called dyscalculia and it prevents you from being able to think about numbers the way an English speaker might have trouble conceiving of Mandarin characters. They just mean nothing to you, and all of the concentrating in the world won't help. My sister has it quite badly, and if she stares at her math book for long enough, the numbers start to meld together. Once I did a simple calculation in my head and she looked at me as if I'd just performed black magic.
And for you (Original Person) to lord it over others because you're better at math than they are is fairly offensive. You may as well ask a diabetic person why they think producing insulin is so complicated, or a blind person why they can't be bothered seeing. It's not a decision to just not bother understanding it. Some people are good at it. Some people are bad at it. Some people can't do it at all. And it's none of your god-damned business anyway.0 -

I dont think this worked so well for me either... I mean it sounds like a good idea, but I eat calories tailored to the weight I am now... those will decrease as my weight decreases because i wont need to eat 1740 cals everyday... so shouldn't one put in their maintenance cals versus what theyre actually eating right now?0

Goal weight in.. November. Okay that is'n't too tooooo long. Seems a long way away right now though. They should probably cut off at around 95-100 so people don't go nuts on this.0

It's really interesting to see what 200 calories a day difference looks like in the long term. 200 calories a day from now until the new year for me is a difference of 10 pounds! What a great thing to keep in mind as I reach for an extra snack I don't need.0

Wow, thank you so much. What a powerful motivator that really shows you the importance of those "oh it's only a little snack, it won't matter" moments. Also highlights to me theimpotatnce of being active. Best case scenario for me is at goal by 20/12. Worst case it would be by 21/3. Either way.....I will get there! Hmmmmm, now i'm thinking about my Xmas night out outfit at either of the weights for those dates.....15 pounds difference!0

This is awesome! And what a motivator! I've been worried about when I'll hit goal weight, and how hard it'll be and blah blah...
This shows me that I could hit my goal weight right around my birthday this year!! That's WAY sooner than I was hoping for - provided I make it happen.
And if I keep up with what I'm doing, I could hit my first mini-goal as soon as next week. Great motivation and kick in the pants!

Horribly depressing. I have three choices.
1. Not get to goal weight for well over another year and a half.
2. Cut my calories down to something really dangerous.
3. Workout strenuously 6-7 days a week and not eat any of my exercise calories back.
Hm. Which to pick? I'm thinking #3. Let's hope if I start working out at 4am it will be cool enough that I don't keel over dead.0 -

Combination of 2 and 3? Cut down your cals AND work out without eating them all back? Its annoying seeing how long it will take but if you need to cut down to something "dangerous" you're probably trying to lose too much too quickly?0 -
