the story was ok, but the she was a whiney little.... didnt like it well enough to read the two sequels. the writing itself was poor.

The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty is 10x worse than 50 Shades of Grey.

If by 10x worse, you mean 10x better, yes, I agree.

was trying to decide if they meant "worse" as in more explicit and less appropriate or actually worse... because while I've only read a tiny excerpt of 50 shades I hate that chick more than I hated Bella... and thats saying something! however Beauty is **fans self** excellent.

    And Joe Manganiello

And ^^^^that, right there^^^ is why I'm taking next Friday afternoon off and sneaking out to the movies.

50 shades was an overly romanticized, watered down BDSM tale. Nothing to lose sleep over, and fun to read on the beach.

ETA: The Claiming Beauty books were really good. And Sherise Sinclair is one of my faves as well.

My 68 year old aunt said she reads 50 Shades to her husband in bed. That alone is enough of a reason for me to NEVER read it. If you want well written smut, just read Delta of Venus by Anais Nin. It is actually literature.

My neighbor loaned it to me. I just started it last night. I read 84 pages in an hour. It appears to be a quick read, and I hear I'm CLOSE to the "good parts" ;) We shall see if it's worthy of the hype...

Several google searches kept turning up saying it was originally Twilight fan fiction and when she published it, she changed the names, etc. I thought, "well, that's interesting, if it made that kind of transition, and sells this well, it must be great."

So I downloaded the free sample from amazon via my kindle app on my iPad.

    It is horrible.

It reads like an middle schooler wrote it.. I didn't even get to the BDSM parts.. but shoot, if that's why you read it.. you can get that for free all over the internet, and you don't have to sift through a silly story line to get it. Generally, they'll be short and to the point, lol.

I also think it's weird that women are all reading it out in public and such... isn't porn something you do in the privacy of your home?

Loved the story line, but had to skim through some parts. Made me blush.:blushing:

50 Shades has NOTHING to do with Twilight!!!

From what I understand 50 Shades started out as Twilight fan fiction on the Twilight fan fiction site... and then the author got kicked off for it... and now we have the trilogy for $9.99 a book on amazon

I read the three of them in a salivating, ready for more NOW hurry.

I love all things non-vanilla. There is an amazing sex scene pretty much every other page. This is appropriate for someone who is very comfortable with sexuality and is willing to push the envelope. Like me. And maybe you!

***Off to download The Sleeping Beauty Series***

I thought this said "50 Shades of Gay". Now I'm seriously dissapointed.

In all seriousness, the reason it's like a "poorly written Twilight" is because it IS A POORLY WRITTEN TWILIGHT. It was written as an INTERNET FAN FICTION of Twilight. The names were changed to avoid copyright issues. *facepalm* So if you like melodramatic women with self esteem issues clincing to overbearing and controlling men with some porn/lol/ thrown in - this book is for you!

Okay, first of all the Sleeping Beauty series was written by Anne Rice under a different name. Much better writing, in terms of how those things go. I read about the first 100 pages of the first Fifty Shades book and hated it, had to put it down. The chick was this sniveling little whiny priss, and there was just too much gasping and "Oh my!"s for my taste. And to be honest, I never read the full Sleeping Beauty series either...I just skipped around and giggled over the naughty bits when I was younger.

That being said, I have to admit I loved the Twilight series. Really. Hated the movies. The movies make me want to puke. Kristin Stewart makes me want to puke. Wretched, all around. But the books, I really enjoyed. Also read Stephenie Meyer's _The Host_, which was AWESOME (after I finally broke through the first fifty pages, which I had to read about 12 times just to get into).

My take on the Fifty Shades books are: if I want some 'mommy porn' I'll just hop onto that crazy thing people call 'The Internet' and look at any weird old freaky sexy thing I can think of...for free. And without having to wade through Ana's obnoxious little internal dialogues. (Snoooooooze.)

There. My $0.02 on porn lit for the day.

50 Shades has NOTHING to do with Twilight!!!

It absolutely does. It was fanfiction. Orginally self-published. I have never read Twillight so I only know this based on interviews.

I also did the Kindle samples... not impressed at all with the writing, which is enough for me not to waste $27 on them. There are tons of FREE erotic fiction books for the Kindle.

I love the Beauty series. Then again, I love most of Anne Rice's books.

There are some pretty graphic sex scenes, and some talk about BDSM though not really much of that takes place. It's pretty poorly written, the writer's imagination seems to only extend as far as having a 26 year old billionaire sadist fall in love with a 21 year old virgin that looks like his deceased crack-wh0r3 mother. Other than that, she can't seem to use a thesaurus, as her dialogue is depressingly repetitive.

But it's great if you just want to read about explicit vanilla sex acts...
