Weird Combinations of Foods That Taste Delicious

edited December 2024 in Recipes
Last night I came home from work and proceeded to eat a nice crunchy carrot . . .with brown spicy mustard on it! Granted, I was pretty hungry and love the taste of mustard, but it tasted delicious!

Has anyone else discovered any weird combinations of foods that are unexpectedly delicious?

I used to eat powdered donuts and milk...together. Not together in a "I had a glass of glass of milk with my donuts today" kind of way, but as in a "I mashed up some powdered donuts in a mug and poured milk over them and ate it all with a spoon today" kind of way. I know, I know, it sounds gross, but I loved it. I accidentally discovered it after taking a pack of Mrs. Baird's powdered donuts out of the freezer after school (we bought Mrs. Baird's products in bulk from the outlet stores). I tried to eat them after heating them up in the microwave, but they were way too hot, so I poured a little milk over them, and voila! I had a new yet disgusting snack on my hands.

My dad loves some weirder ones (I am not game enough to try):
Vegemite, strawberry jam and cheese sandwich
    Vegemite, cheese and pickles sandwich

Not healthy exactly... but jam and cheese sandwiches would be one of my favourites.

    Chilli goes great with almonds.

I often eat peanut butter, cottage cheese and apple slices. Or apple slices, yoghurt and cottage cheese. To me, cottage cheese is more sweet than savoury but a friend of mine can't understand it, lol

I used to mix up peanut butter, honey, and butter and spread that on bread... It was oh so creamy and sweet! It's like the ultimate comfort food.

While I don't do that anymore, I do mix Greek yogurt with almond butter and honey. It makes a lovely sandwich too!

I'm not a "combination" person in that I really don't like to mix food much :D. BUT I did catch my son eating a peanut butter and salsa sandwich one day.
